Running a crazy computer virus (Sulfoxide.exe) & attempting to repair it!

- FLASHING LIGHTS WARNING before watching this video (I do give warnings during the video). If you are affected by those, do NOT watch the virus executed chapter (You can listen to it if you want). I do give future warnings after that if there are any flashing lights, which those lights only last like a few seconds.
I take a look at an interesting\crazy computer virus called Sulfoxide.exe. It's a virus made by wipet, and is not to be used maliciously. We are not responsible for any damages made from running this malware. DO NOT run this on a main system, use a spare PC with nothing important on it or a VM if you are going to test it! I only ran this on one of my many machines with a different HDD in it.
I recently saw videos on this virus and got interested in it, and decided to try it out on actual hardware and attempt to repair the damages caused by it. I have yet to see any videos of people repairing it, and wanted to attempt it for a video. I also gave a live reaction of running the malware.

Good you captured it in a more original environment and managed to get it to work without crashing!
This is a really fascinating trojan, the sound you hear is actually the interrupts over the audio chip and when you hear it almost sweeping sirens, that's actually it wiping your HDD. Super cool!
Actually no, the sound is just generated using bytebeat which create sounds from the constantly increasing variable 't'

It's just so fascinating how someone can create something so destructive.
What really got me was the point where you actually were able to restore your Win7 Installation because I thought it destroyed the partition for good.

For the audio recording you could have hooked up a aux cable to the headphone jack on the pc and hooked the other end to your main computers line in port and recorded it like that
Regularly saving a system backup on an external drive to use in an emergency has saved me days of work to get my laptop working normally again many times. Before I knew about that I would reformat and have to start all over again from factory state...
Yeah, system images can be nice. I used to use them but stopped. I don't reinstall my system as often anymore.

wipet tried to repair that virus on XP but it does not work
IMO the only thing that can save that computer is Linux or reinstall of Windows but you might have tried that already

@@torchedegg it’s usually malware like I love you and Melisa or the majority of viruses designed to be malicious and pushed to you via fake downloaders or other sketchy stuff on the internet

just requires vcredist_x86 2017 (not 2015-2019. yeah.) for Windows XP and any redist on architecture x86 on later versions
Sulfoxide doesn't spread through WiFi, so you would be fine

Fore future, make sure you connect it via Ethernet during setup so windows doesn’t have any saved Wi-Fi keys when running malware. Otherwise malware may connect to the Wi-Fi itself and spread.

That command only exist on Windows 10 but sulfoxide can't run on Windows 10
@@wheatley998 someone did get it to run on windows 10 but i think it was with a newer version of the virus
1. SFC /scannow exists on Windows 7 too
2. It would depend on whether SxS is corrupted and how much

I think you can try running sfc scan that can fix corruption I can fix almost kind of any corruption you just go to command prompt and type sfc /scannow
That's not how it works. It actually wiped the hard-drive, so no more windows and command prompt. And to fix the MBR, you will need to use an installation disk or reinstall windows completely

If your computer is powerful enough, you can use software like VirtualBox so that you have a Virtual Machine you can do such things on.
