i want to try clear something up, yes, i feel bad for uenoyama for getting involved with this but i can definitely say that mafuyu does love uenoyama. you honestly can't expect mafuyu to immediately be okay after what happened just because he's fallen for someone else. he saw the love of his life (at that time) dead. it's a sight he can't wipe away from his memory. no one wants to see the person they love like that. he must've been incredibly scarred and probably will be for the rest of his life. yuki was both mafuyu's childhood friend and boyfriend. yuki went through everything with mafuyu, he helped and supported him so much through all the problems mafuyu went through, without complaint or leaving him. mafuyu wants to move on but it's his lingering feeling of loss. he's still mourning yuki's death.

Yes, Mafuyu loves Uenoyama but it's also clear that he's still not over Yuki. Rushing into a new relationship when you're not over your ex yet makes for an extremely unhealthy relationship. It's not Mafuyu's fault that he can't get over Yuki but by getting into this new relationship, he will just keep hurting Uenoyama. I read the manga until the latest chapter and I can honestly say that at this point, I want Ue and Mafu to break up for Uenoyama's sake. Ue is literally BEST BOY, god his heart is HUGE, in the latest chapter he's working on something that's extremely painful for him as Mafuyu's current lover, that's why he should never be made to feel like he's SECOND BEST. Uenoyama deserves the WORLD but what he's getting right now isn't even close to that. NOT EVEN CLOSE.

as we think mafuyu with like to clear it up but he don't have the strength to say it, and for yuki it not about him being his ex... he shared with him everything. if it Ue who was his first boyfriend, do you really think that he was going to love yuki as he loved Ue.

It honestly break my heart very time i think about yuki and his relationship with Mafuyu. But what hurts me more is the fact that no matter how much Ue tries to help Mafuyu’s and no matter how much he loves him, Ue will never be Mafuyu’s all those first. He’ll never be able to Mafuyu’s first ever, even though Mafuyu is Ue’s first love. And in the manga we see Ue starting to realise and accept that but man it hurts... it hurts so bad. Ue is such a precious sweetheart and knowing the fact that Ue will always love Mafuyu wayy more than Mafuyu loving Ue is just so painful ahhhhh im crying

I think that’s the next arc, really assessing whether Mafuyuu loves Ue or he’s just convenient, and Ue is a lot like Yuki in some areas, but he’s not him and it’s pretty clear in the recent chapters that if Mafuyuu doesn’t get over this projecting of Yuki onto Ue, it’s done for. I’m hoping they have an actually conversation about it because it’s crucial for the storyline to develop in a healthy way

I can see that Mafuyu really loves Ue but after that perfomance (their live concert on the anime), it's the first time where he *really* mourned Yuki because he can't bring himself to express all the sadness and longing, especially guilt before. So I can understand why most of his songs are about Yuki.
In his own ways, Mafuyu is also trying his best to express his love to his new love, Ue. I think it started going downhill when he hesitated about debuting because he never thought about the future at all. He is taking his time in trying to figure things out but time doesn't wait to anyone.
I guess that is what Shizu is trying to say, *if you're not sure or if you're still hesitating, stop* because there are two people in a relationship and in their band, they need to see everything in the same views and that means, they also need Mafuyu's decision.

I think your comment are right cuz you know Mafuyu's friend actually meant to say like whether you will go this path with him or leave him behind. He can understand Mafuyu I think and he said this for his behalf. I think Ue is suffering cuz he feels like he can't make his pain away and it irritates him and for that reason i think he decided to finish Yuki's demo. He wants to understand Yuki and wants to heal his boyfriend :')

I agree with both of you guys, I feel bad for Ue. The fact that he has to finish Yuki’s demo is a bit too much. He has to understand Yuki better than anyone else to finish the demo like how Yuki would’ve. Plus Mafuyu is still hesitant about many things. I think it would be best for them to take a break to see what they really want because it’s gonna hurt both of them, especially Ue. That’s my opinion to be honest.

Here’s my opinion. Everyone is saying like poor Ue. And honestly me too, poor Ue but you can’t even say that. Yes it’s sad Ue won’t be to Mafuyu what Yuki was to him but that’s the whole point. That’s the plot of the movie and the anime portrays it well too. Mafuyu and Yuki had what the other was lacking, they were the perfect couple. Compare that to Ue and Mafuyu, and it can’t even compare but the other aspect is Ue helped Mafuyu grow so much. Because they’re not perfect, they both (mostly Mafuyu tho) grew in some dramatic way. Mafuyu is able to speak for himself and these emotions, he’s able to convey. Mafuyu wasn’t able to do that before because Yuki was a representation of his emotions. He was his other half so it was perfect, Yuki’s presence filled the gap of the silence he had to deal with since childhood. Also Yuki‘s been dead since first episode and that’s just mean if Ue takes these concerns of Yuki taking Mafuyu away from him. But what Mafuyu is doing throughout this whole thing though is remembering and honoring Yuki’s memory and the emotions Yuki brought forth from him. Ue helped him do that through song, so Yuki rather than an opponent or someone who’s taking Mafuyu’s loving emotions, Yuki is the ground work for Ue and Mafuyu’s relationship. Dedicating this song to Yuki is like lifting a burden from his heart. Carrying around that guitar felt like it was the only thing he had left of Yuki minus seeing Yuki in everyone and in Ue. Mafuyu is saying that his existence and singing what he feels is proof of Yuki making a big impact in his life. Unlike Fuyunohanashi, Mafuyu directly reaches out to Yuki because Fuyunohanashi was raw feelings but this is what he feels about Yuki after Ue impacted his life. Ue brought these lyrics, this song, this opportunity to Mafuyu to help them grow. Mafuyu isn’t sad to talk about Yuki, to be conflicted between the two because Ue is someone he learns love with all over again. They’re communicating and bonding and honoring Yuki’s memory together which is why I think this song is so beautiful. So no, not “poor Ue” I’m glad Ue is able to bring these emotions out of Mafuyu who’s singing wholeheartedly about his feelings for Yuki and letting that live on because Yuki couldn’t.

Even if this is a late comment can I just say I feel like people are treating mafuyus pain so lightly?Like as someone who lost 2 people from suicide it still haunts me this day.LIke the realization that they’re never going to be there in the future and the fact that everyone seems to move on.Of course it’s hard.The constant feeling like you should have been there,the what if’s...when I lost my ex from suicide I remember I didn’t cry it was so hard to process.Waking up in the middle of the night cause you dream of them,crying after or closing your eyes only to see them,it’s trauma you can’t expect them to fully leave someone who was so dear to them that easily .And the fact that Mafuyu never had someone to lean on those moments ,it’s not just another love story that failed it’s something you live for the rest of your life.And the hiiragai issue they didn’t force ue to do it and they never brought mafuyu that time it was his choose cause he wanted to know more about yuki not yuki as mafuyus first love.He wanted to complete the song because he resonates with how yuki felt about mafuyu and it’s also weird that people thinks that mafuyu jump to the relationship without his 100%.I think he thought it through you think a person who just lost someone would want to go through the pain again?Mafuyu has always felt to much it’s just like ugetsu’s it’s just that ugetsu find his way through it mafuyu gets confuse about it so he feels scared.Anyway I agree with you.peace

No, the manga is still ongoing and if the 2nd season happen it's more about the other 2 of mafuyu childhood friends and about the song that Yuki write for mafuyu. Well up until now there's no story about Ugetsu, I guess this movie will be the last for him

The things is Mafuyu NEVER treats Rtisuka as a Yuki-replacement. He misses Yuki, but he loves Ritsuka. Yeah, Yuki got some of Mafuyu’s first, but Ritsuka is getting his LASTS. Mafuyu genuinely loves Ritsuka and, at least to me, they have a bright future. Yuki died, and that hurts, but Mafuyu is getting on with his life and that future is Ritsuka. That is really clear in Stagekira Kiminisasagu and Hetakuso

I really, really am frustrated that Ue is somehow treated as Yuki's replacement. I know that Mafuyu is still moving on and all, but it really frustrates me to death that Ue... Ugh, I can't even form words... Ue loves Mafuyu so, so much. So, so much. I am really, really hoping that Ue and Mafuyu will share that same love one day. I do hope that someday, Mafuyu can fully heal from Yuki, and be willing to give Ue all of his love. They both deserve it. They both need to be happy. My heart is rooting for Ue and Mafuyu and I hope they will succeed.

Something I can’t understand is why ppl think mafuyu has to stop loving yuki in order to be with uenoyama. they want mafuyu to completely take him out of his life and forget him, just to give ue attention which is so selfish. I can’t understand that. Mafuyu very much loves uenoyama. of course mafuyu will always miss yuki but he has no choice but to move on. He will always love yuki, doesn’t matter what way. Yuki was his best friend, family, and boyfriend. But reminder this song is referenced to "Strawberry swing" (i reccomend reading it) which is about how Yuki will always be apart of him,listening to all the songs he songs. but i think Mafuyu has found his summer that'll cherish him (Ue) and he knows that. This song is also representing Ugestsu's feelings(along with yorugaakeru) and aki's and his relationship. The song that made Aki realize things.

Would’ve never guessed Mafuyu’s seiyuu is in his early 30s. I love how he portrayed Mafuyu’s singing in the beginning episodes like how he’s supposed to be this amateur singer and purposely did not “sing very well in technical terms” but had that RAW talent in moving people’s hearts. And how as time goes in the manga Mafuyu improved so fast and pretty much got better in singing and playing guitar in such a short period of time. Shougo Yano did a really good job for his role in portraying his progress.

so after reading the manga and listening to this song it makes me so freaking sad. We learn to understand that Although Mafuyu is now with Ue he still has this "hole in his heart" and in the manga It's almost like Yuki is telling mafuyu that he will always be with him inside of the hole In his heart and will continue to watch over him and listen to him sing,so he tells him to continue on singing. the song is obviously for yuki, AGAIN. I just can't imagine how Uenoyama feels while hearing his own boyfriend--which is Mafuyu, singing the songs that he wrote for his dead ex boyfriend. I don't know why almost everyone is talking about how sad it is for Mafuyu and Yuki because Yuki died, and not thinking how obviously Uenoyama just became a rebound despite loving Mafuyu truly. 😢
Yeah but it's hard for Mafuyu. Think about that Yuki was his best friend, lover and savior. And he didn't had the change to say goodbye. Its okay that Mafuyu can't forget it.
But it doesn't mean he don't love Uenoyama. He really love him, he just need to express his emotion in music to finally move on.
And yes, you could ask "why did he running into a relationship if he isn't move on?" Because he can't get over it in an other way. This relationship with Ue help him a lot. Ue's feeling aren't hurt (much) because he accept the fact that Mafuyu need to grief. But you can't compare the two guys and their relationship with Mafuyu. Because both is different. Yuki is his past, Ue is the present. They loved Mafuyu in a different way, they showed it different. Mafuyu feel it different, he aren't compare the two, please you don't do it too.
I think Mafuyu loves Ue, and he will never get over Yuki, because you just can't forget it. But you can keep live, and Mafuyu tries. And Ue support him, and Mafuyu live for him.
If it hurt Ue, well, they can finally talk about it, because Mafuyu now can more talk about his feeling. I just love Mafuyama, needed to talk about it 😅
Ue is not a rebound, Mafuyu loves Ue so much, so much. As someone mentioned in the comments, I too think Ue helped Mafuyu express the emotions he couldn't when Yuki was there. Yuki was his other half, a person who showed Mafuyu's emotions rather than himself.
Ue wanted and helped Mafuyu to remove that burden in his heart and yes, it's hard for Ue.
Yuki is actually the reason they're together. And when they're together, they're helping each other grow
And as Mafuyu grows, he moves on and finally let's go of the pain. Without eachother, they wouldn't have become the person they are now. Just a bit more communication :')

She killed herself because she was impregnated by her step father who forced himself upon her. Her mother abandoned her too. I didn't know anything. I couldn't help her. And now it's too late. I have another lover now but I can never love him like I loved her. Guilt, pain, the feeling of emptiness its horrible. I don't think I can move on, never that easily... It's actually possible to love 2 people at the same time but rushing into a new relationship when you're not over your ex yet is extremely unhealthy. I know Mafuyu lost his ride or die but it's also unfair to his new lover. Mafuyu isn't the only one hurting, Uenoyama is getting hurt in the process too but he just keeps his pain to himself. And yes, best boy Uenoyama definitely deserves MORE LOVE.

I think Mafuyu loves Ue, but grief is more often than not, not a linear process. Grief does not shrink, you grow and keep learning to live and cope with it. It's a long process and can take years to fully contain. I don't think one's inability to contain their grief (yet) means they are incapable of love. Sometimes the process comes hand-in-hand. Also, Mafuyu most definitely have a delayed grief response (which happens. I didn't start crying about my mom's death until 1.5 years after.) which makes things a bit more complicated. But him not being able to finish grieving doesn't mean he doesn't love Ue or using him as Yuki's replacement. Yuki makes Mafuyu who he is now, and the Mafuyu who Uenoyama love is shaped partly by Yuki. That is a fact that Uenoyama have to understand and accept. Yes, it's hard to love someone who is grieving, but it seems to me that Mafuyu is working to sort his grief anyway.
The most important thing was Yuki and Mafuyu didn't break up. They never stopped loving each other. They didn't go through the process of clashing and breaking up like other couples so it's especially hard for Mafuyu to move on

I've been repeating the manga and the anime series and crying everytime i watched it😭😭😭
I kind of really feel bad for ue becuase uenoyama isn't really uenoyama for mafuyu, to him he's more like a replacement for yuki. He can't get over yuki and it's like uenoyama is his escape from it. It kind of sucks for uenoyama becuase while mafuyu will be uenoyama first love and only love, the same does not go for mafuyu.
It also feels like mafuyu will never get over yuki. The reality is, that if he were to see yuki again, he'd probably leave uenoyama and forget about him. I kind of don't like mafuyu character becuase of this. He shouldn't have been with uenoyama if all he was ever gonna talk about was yuki. He's not over him, he's forcing himself to get over yuki.
