@OceanBlue irish are spread all over the world. We invented the submarine many alcohols and much more. Never associate us with the uk. We worked for centuries to be free from them. Unfortunately we couldn't free the whole country and Northern Ireland is still part of the uk. Clearly u are American so let me give u one example of why we don't like the uk, more specifically England. In the 1840s we had a patatoes famine. Patatoes were the main food in the Irish diet, almost all other food we were forced to export. Because of this we had nothing else to eat when the spuds went bad. England controlled our government and they should have brought in relief food to keep their citizens alive, but they didn't. Long story short, the Irish population was halved due to this, they either died or were forced to emigrate to America ( which is why there are so many Americans of Irish decent) Some consider this to be genocide ( the deliberate killing of a certain group or race) on England hand because they saw what was going on and it was their job to help but they didn't. To this day we still haven't recovered population wise but are nearly there. This is just one of many reason we don't associate with Britain or the uk.

You'd think considering the USA also fought for independence from Britain you'd understand this or at least have heard about it. The Irish War of Independence? No?
"You guys got to get it together over there“ 😂 Thats a brilliant idea.
I wonder why no one has ever thought of it before.
Never speak about a topic you know nothing about. The yank was embarrassing he needs to be educated. ...over .....lol.
They had Cillian Murphy and Tom Hardy together and an idiot reporter thought Cillian was British and when he corrected her and said he was Irish, idiot reporter replied “oh same thing.” Tom Hardy had the biggest grin
It’s mad 😂 they don’t realise that we went to WAR over this
Farrrrrrrk even as an impartial Australian that was like watching fingernails scrape down a chalkboard
They're going on about a weaker euro probably not knowing the euro is still stronger than the dollar 😂
Why would Ireland tie itself to market of 68 million when Europe has market of 750 million.
America is in decline.
Now listen again and imagine that he's in a rowdy bar in Dublin trying to pay with English pounds and making this speech. "Really? I was just in Scotland and they took pounds. You guys need to get it together." I'd give anything to see the expressions on everyone's faces while he ranted on.
I won't be surprised if he receives a blow or two from a drunk paddy lol
We'd take the sterling but we'd ride him on the exchange rate 😁
😂 It’s not a bad question actually because the UK is located between the Irish Republic and mainland Europe and yet, the Irish use the Euro which is controlled by the Germans!… In other words, the UK is closer to mainland Europe than the Irish Republic!… Logically, with the proximity, the English language, long historical, business & family ties and both even drive on the wrong side of the road, it makes much more sense for the Republic of Ireland to use the Pound Sterling.
@@aheat3036 - I'm Scottish and live in Edinburgh, Scotland and my family have routes in Ireland. Your comment is the sort of stupid shit Americans say, coupled with unearned arrogant confidence in their opinions, that makes everyone mock American tourists and their complete lack of knowledge about the world. Please keep it up though, it is endlessly amusing to us and the rest of the world.
This a hint to where you are going wrong, what you describe as the "long historical, business & family ties" between Ireland and Great Britain is exactly why they don't use the pound sterling.
You'd think considering the USA also fought for independence from Britain you'd understand this or at least have heard about it. The Irish War of Independence? No? Well, it happened and Ireland then got their own currency for 75 years prior to adopting the Euro. They didn't choose between the British pound and the Euro.
It's true they also drive on "the wrong side of the road". You should travel a little and you'll see people in other countries speak "wrong", dance "wrong", wear the "wrong" clothes and even eat food "wrong".
Why is everyone else getting it wrong and only Americans are getting it right? This is something American tourists love to speculate about while visiting other countries. Because different is "wrong", right?
Maybe you are not American? Did you give this interview? th-cam.com/video/n1ig4mzu93Q/w-d-xo.html
@@aheat3036thats such an ignorant uninformed comment no offense.
I would LOVE if he would interview Roy Keane
Omg!...I was shaking!..I would have punched him!...I'm a Welshman...still the education of this guy!.... I'm speechless!
Pure respect for this man, he said “the north of Ireland” and not “northern Ireland” he isn’t treating the both as separate countries 🇮🇪✊🏻
Only out of ignorance though, don't think he knows what he's saying
@@finlomacdonald7739 not really, Northern Ireland is easier to say than the north of Ireland, it wasn’t out of ignorance
........ But they are seperate countries.
@@gerardcollins80 maybe different governments but still the same country nonetheless
@@ErinGoBragh07 Nope. The cultures of North and South have diverged greatly in the last 60/70 years for obvious reasons.
I wouldn't have been able to continue the interview without giving them all a history lesson 🤣🤣🤣
The number of likes says it all.
He certainly had great patience to put up with such ignorance, arrogance and annoyance.
Who did that American interviewer think he was telling that Irish man what Ireland has and has not and how they should run things. What does he know, not very much obviously 🙄🤦
As an Irish person, this hurt to watch
It should hurt even more if you were American...but I'm sure it would have gone right over 95% of Americans heads.
In the words of Paul McCartney “give Ireland back to the Irish don’t make them have to take it away” TAL 🇮🇪💚☘️
Americans and geography..... Sigh
Americans and geography, history, sociology etc.
@@FFM0594 ........Football?
Sounds like he thinks northern Ireland is the independent one
yep, i didnt knew either until i googled, heck i thought northern ireland was scotland, because is the one that is north from england, i dont get it why irish ppl are so upset, is like they think uk geopolitics are teached in the whole world, while in reality we just see those both islands as england,,, and uk is the same as england
@@zoiuduu we dont think these things are taught around the world we just expect that when someone with no understanding of the subject talks about it they shouldn't act like an authority on it, every country has politics that they are very sensitive about not just ireland

This guy is literally what I think of when I hear ‘American’.
At least the lady tried to ask intelligent questions. That guy on the other hand was completely brain dead.
“You guys have to get it together” Jesus if they knew the history
That woman was embarrassed...
Wait until he finds out that Wales uses sterling
I’m English and this pissed me off...
“Wow, you guys oughta get it together over there”.......... ammm, I guess it didn't occur to the American guy as the interview progressed that maybe he need's to get his knowledge of Ireland together.... as an Irish person I'd be insulted by this but you come to expect this level of ignorance from a certain amount of American's.... not all obviously, but enough....
You must be a culchie
I fecking hate when people say "eye are land" and not Ireland
As an Irishman, this is the most annoying thing ever. Americans thinking Ireland is part of the UK.
That my folks is how insufferable the education is here in the states. I don't claim them
As an Irish man I am Truely and utterly offended
Can't believe he works as financial presenter for CNBC

This man confusing two separate countries: Scotland and Ireland 🙃😂
I can almost understand their ignorance of currency and geography, but to be so rude about other countries: "Get it together over there" is inexcusable.
Feeling embarrassed for Americans who ……got their jobs by merit.
If Martin had stood up, lifted his chair above his head and used it to batter the guy senseless
Surely everyone else present would have burst into spontaneous applause
I feel insulted and hurt thanks America thanks 😡
America can't comprehend that there are other countries in the world and that they use different currency. Sounds about right.
As an Irishman I was utterly bemused when I couldn’t use my Mexican Pesos in Manhattan.
I would have asked why American uses dollars rather then pounds, then explained that Ireland is not apart of UK. It is its own thing.
Perfect. Both countries broke free from British rule. That's what it is.
I'm embarrassed for his whole family.
Scotland has 3 banks issuing notes at the time of the report: Bank of Scotland, Clydesdale & Royal Bank of Scotland.
Irish pound -> now Euro, it never was British pound, it never will be.
Jesus, this is a business show.
No
I am British and I alreadys wondered, if britian is part of the EU why don't we have the euro.
Because England wanted to keep the pound.
I’m not surprised an American said that, he comes from the same country as Donald trump, 6ix9ine and candace owens
Why doesn't America use Peso's? Afterall they're right next to Mexico
people who don't know about geography and history will never understand why anyone does anything
I don’t think they teach about the rest of the world in American schools. I’ve met and known educated Americans. It’s the same here in Britain. Plenty of people seem to have not learnt much at school. The Irish guy was being very patient.
Maybe we use euros because we're in europe
He thinks that Europe is" the country of Europe" and why would you use their currency...DO NOT Watch the TV station for investment insight or any advice.
@Nathan Mcilveen actually we did. It's not that hard to figure out. I remember using the pound before converting to the euro in 2002 so why call us idiots? You have a superiority complex or something

OceanBlue Native Americans are thinking the same about you!
The American thought he knew better and actually knew nothing about geography or history.I found his ignorance insulting because he kept pushing his idea as if we were wrong.
The American asks him a question and doesn’t let him speak cause he can’t shut up, it’s such an American thing to do
The ignorance of some Americans.
"I'm not sure I follow your logic." You aren't the only one, Martin. I watched with my jaw dropped.
"You guys got to get together".
We've being trying to for 800 fucking years
Well one side's been trying to.
The other side's been trying not to.
The unmitigated ignorance of the so called financial experts is astonishing
