This is awesome. Back in the 1960’s when I was little, my dad was a Rockhound and as kids, my sister and I would go with him sometimes. He found so many neat rocks and gems here in Maine & New Hampshire. He had a tumbler and would polish them up to make jewelry. Thank you for taking us along!
Very cool im from long Island but lived upstate and loved the geology especially all the fossils in the rock upstate. In Kingston there's old rail tracks that the rock that was used to fill the track would have crystals and fossils in it . I would spend hours just looking for cool rocks with my dog very interesting stuff and very interesting video thank you
The old Wallkill Valley Railroad through Kingston and west has incredible rock cuts for finding those. I haven't been back there in a while. Thank you for watching!
@@Outdooracademe yes walked that trail very cool also Catskill Mountain Railroad trail is beautiful the cuts show so much I wish I new more about it . Do you have any idear what people are digging for on the sides of the Route 209 always see people digging in the side cuts of the mountain/cliff.
That was very cool thank you. I imagine the guys who made the cut were impressed with the formation. Being the disagreeable type, with the intention of only getting to the truth of course I disagree with the timeline in the millions of years that were calculated...but who knows. I appreciate the effort you put in to share your wanderings, knowledge and observations.
I will BE Very Funny I had to say this did you find any volcanos I found 3 and I am 80 the secret is I am not a geologist but I had 1 year of forestry in wanakena ny in or around 1960 they told the class all red pine and schotch pine are not a native tree to the U.S. and I found out you can keep all gold and silver on state land N.Y. law PBL 82 { century new technologies company INC ]It WILL be more interested if you work back words from next to the last video till you find out what mother nature volcano did to plum brook I put my last video in for this year after the first video you watch know why.

I agree, but it's fun to consider.
Cool!
Thank you!
I've been on 23A many times and never knew that was there.
Me neither until I read Robert Beard's book.

That's interesting and I'm not surprised it's no longer common knowledge. Thanks for watching and commenting!
