I don’t understand the issue with trim. I’ve painted only one legionary squad so maybe I don’t have proper experience but it wasn’t hard or anything to paint the gold trim I used.
@@b1on1k638 Because it's not hard. Or tedious. You just paint it with a metallic, wash it and optionally highlight, like any bit of metal. It's like saying painting boltguns silver is hard. Trim is just a dumb meme that people repeat like parrots. The actual hard part is making the armor plates inside the trim look nice, especially on Black Legion where highlighting flat, black plates is a tricky proposition.
I just started world eaters with the angron Christmas box and a combat patrol. After 30 berserkers, I hate trim with a passion. I wash every berserker/8 bound and terminators with earth shade to help cover the oops parts of trim
Just putting this out there, you can equip up to two plasma pistols in a five man Berserker squad, and up to three in a 10 man squad. The rule say that the champion can be equipped with one in addition to the one you can equipped per 5 in the squad. Other than that, good stuff!
An IRL World Eater player I know mentioned that to me as well! Ultimately he and I both agreed it didn't matter too much because +1 plasma pistol ultimately results in something close to 1 failed save on a Marine Equivalent body across 3 berzerker units running it.
Glad it's able to help you out! World Eaters are definitely up there in terms of affordability. If you CAN find a good deal on the christmas box from last year then buying that + 1 combat patrol gets you very close to 2000 points. As long as you can get some combination of Rhinos, Eightbound, and Berzerkers you're on your way!
This is a really cool video thank you for making it I am constantly keeping an eye on Warhammer for a good time to hop in! It's cool to see beginner startup lists I am personally interested in ultramarine only because I am very new and I think they are cool and vanilla is my favorite flavor of ice cream. Regardless of what guy do you make extra life will keep an eye on it and there is no pressure for anything
The best time to hop in (in my opinion) is honestly whenever! It's hard to say there is a "best time" because the hobby involves so much other stuff than just playing the game. If you wanted to start a new army (and knew you liked the game), or got lucky and have a battleforce box for your army come out during the holidays those are amazing purchase. Typically they are around $360-$400 of models in a box for $200-$230. But that can be a lot of money if you don't know how much you like the hobby. My best recommendation is spending $20 to buy Tabletop Simulator and then look around TH-cam for guides on how to set up Warhammer 40k inside of it. Then find yourself the Warhammer Tabletop Simulator discord and get some learning games in! I know plenty of people who collect and don't play, so if you just like painting then you can skip that step entirely! As far as starting with space marines, its never a bad choice. They are "vanilla", but there are so many flavors of that vanilla that you really do get a lot of choices and you get absolutely spoiled with options every single year as Space Marines almost always get 2-4 Christmas boxes, launch edition boxes, new models multiple times a year. If you have a friend who is interested in Tyranids, consider picking up the Leviathan box! It has two ~500 point armies in it, one being space marines and the other being tyranids, along with rules for playing the game.
Great video, please provide more such of these video talking about world eater. I would like to see your battle report and teaching us how to play world eater. Thank you.😊
Not a World Eater player myself, just put in the research for them! But if you're interested in seeing more I have a Sister's video that should be out soon.
Just saw and shared this to my friend, he is a big fan of the HH & 40K lore, and is a little mixed on getting into the hobby. This might put him a little more at ease.
Try showing him Tabletop Simulator. For $20 and a free mod download you can play all the 40k you want with him and let him try out lots of different stuff.
I found this and I am building a world eater army and has given me ideas. I will say if you can find the world eater Christmas box (the exalted red angel) they did. Which contained Angron, 6 eightbound and 10 berserkers. I know over in the UK it cost about £140 (not sure what that is in dollars). But if you cam find one it will save you quite a bit of money. Maybe Ebay would be the place to find one but it would help reduce the cost more.
The cost for the X-mas box is about $230 USD. When I did some looking around for it on sites like Ebay I saw it priced at ~$300 because its such a high demand box. It's an amazing pick up if you can manage to snag one for its original sale price.
Honestly I’d rather have the 10 jakhals for 500 points and give the jugolord the berzerker glaive. It’s not as powerful as on the MoE but it does trigger on both his melee weapons making him a charging machine.
It is messed up that a “cheaper” army will run you $600+, but if you get discounts at flgs and buy second hand, I’ve gotten to 2000 points for less than $250
MSRP it certainly is. The hobby has had a huge mark up in cost in the last few years. Early testing for my custodes video I got a 2,000 pt army for $380 MSRP off of Gamesworkshops price. If you buy from Amazon or a local store you can usually save 10-20% which certainly adds up a ton!
While the hobby of printing isn't for everyone. It should be considered for those who are willing. I have found a lot of creators for world eaters, and a few of them make better looking models than GW. They have more khorne iconography, and it's in better detail. Some come with bases included which are covered in skulls. Love it. To each their own though, happy wargaming.
I have polls for new factions after every video. Custodes are in my list, but sisters won the poll for next faction. Stick sound and you'll see custodes for sure!
You should always exercise patience with anything that comes to spending money. That is why I have these broken up into multiple tiers so people can grow little by little, but also recommend Tabletop Simulator to people who want to play as its substantially more affordable.
I got the world eaters Christmas box set and combat patrol and I'm loving the red but the gold trim I can't I can't find a way to paint true metallics that I truly like to paint and like how it looks
From what I have been told, go for an airbrush or metalic primer. From there use a contrast paint over the top. It'll bring out some of the metal from underneath the contrast paint and bring out the shine from the metal.
Another way to do metal is to start with a black base coat and brush metallic paint over it (GW do some fairly decent metallic paints). For World Eaters I started with Runelord Brass, washed it with thinned black paint, and then put Skullcrusher Brass or Brass Scorpion over it with a dry brush. You can highlight with gold as a finishing touch. Make sure you mix the paints well as metallics are often prone to separation in the pot. Oh yeah and remember to breathe as doing this trim really is a fiddly job.
Not sure which one you're talking about, but depending on points it's either the glaive enhancement OR the jackals. Objective holders don't matter as much in 1000 pt games as its usually just a 2 turn game at that point value
The real cost to collecting a Chaos army is painting the trim
The real cost is the sanity we lost along the way.
I don’t understand the issue with trim. I’ve painted only one legionary squad so maybe I don’t have proper experience but it wasn’t hard or anything to paint the gold trim I used.

the bit in the intro where you say "if I don't mention a model in my list" amused me this time, what with the amount of different models in the army.
