My church spent a year with DC Talk when they made their very first CD. They recorded with a studio connected to our church and DC Talk lived with our Youth Leader and his wife. My son was in the youth group and got to sing background LaLa’s in a couple of their songs. They were so young, not much older than my son. They were at Liberty U where my son attended later. My son is 51 now, so they are at least 53,54 now. It was such a gift to know them for a whole year!
Now THIS is how ex-band members should act toward one another!! Certainly their love for Christ is apparent in how they treat each other. So fantastic to witness -- THANK YOU!! Great interview. Just saw the Newsboys earlier this month -- Michael Tait, besides being gorgeous, is an incredible performer and speaker. Thanks again for a little piece of sunshine in this dark world.
Was on the DC Talk reunion cruise and they were like brothers goofing off on stage. I was in the first group to go in and Kevin knocked over all his papers on stage and was like "O'well" and kept going lol. They sang each others lines by accident and started laughing, it was all real. I loved it!

One thing I have learned for sure meeting all those people is that (fanatics aside) the thing that most EVERY ONE can agree on is what matters most is just being good to other people. Other people are going to believe differently no matter what you do or where you go and it's not my place, their place, or yours to mock them for it. You don't have the answers and can't prove you're right, neither can I, neither can anyone else. What you CAN do and an adult is learn to accept people having other views than yourself and doing something positive with your existence than trying to harass anyone else about their life. I do use my brain, brah. I use my heart and my life too. I use them all to try making the world better.
Me and my wife were on the cruise!!! It was awesome, plus my wife got to sing with Kevin on stage and we also got to dance with Toby on stage too!!!!! well worth the trip God Bless!!
I'll never cease to be amazed at how real these men of God are. I used to go to their concerts back in the beginning. They didn't hide the truth then, and they never stopped. They continue to express both God's Truth, and truth in their personal lives. I'm pleased to see what I see, and l Shout it from the mountain tops, "I'm a Jesus Freak!" They gave me the courage to stand up for God then, and now!!! God bless you in His plans for you Toby, Michael and Kevin!!!! Love you my brothers in Christ ❤️

I never got the chance to meet Kevin but I’ve met Toby and Michael a number of times and man do I miss them. Such uplifting and kind men! As a kid I listened all the time and as an adult I’m happy to say nothing had changed. Hope Kevin finds his way back. But for now so long my friend!

I love all the jazz, blues, grunge, rap, FUNK influences! Thank you guys for not being afraid to fuse genre's and giving this 80s/90s kid a reason to love and explore all types of music 😍 Also c'mon - Luv is a verb intro STILL RULES IN 2021!!! 🤘DC Talk and Jars of Clay just had incredible lyrics, unforgettable melodies and equally gorgeous and crunchy basslines/guitar riffs/chord progressions. If you're learning an instrument- listen to them!

Dc talk gave me hope and strength to get through high school as an abstinate Christian. You guys help people so much, you don't even know. I know it was God speaking through them and that's how you know someone has the spirit.

It kind of rubbed me the wrong way that people could only see them on a cruise. A lot of us couldn't afford it. That's why concerts across the country would've been so much better!

My kids listen to the older music with me and we love the music that y’all make now. Thank you for making the music ♥️
Until you take off the hat. Then a hairline from half the head back changes things. But yeah, his facial tone and all that is great for sure. Feel bad for Kevin though. He's soo heavy, especially compared to when he was younger. But there is definitely a love between these guys that feels so nice. A blessing to see.

In 1999, New York State, Kingdom Bound Festival, DC Talk performed in front of 15,000 country Christians. I'm a New Yorker from NYC, out of everyone Kevin Max pulled me on stage & we both performed to "Colored People" when we the song came to the verse "Colored People", I wiped my face, wiping my brown skin, a second after me, Kevin saw what I was doing & imitated me. Good night back then.
The DC Talk boat left along ago. While I had hope still even in 2009. I walked away from anything new happening. And with Kevin falling away, I’m fine with the boat not coming back.
I remember in the early 90's showing these guys how to snowboard at WinterPlace WV while at CCYC. Didn't know who they were all day. lol. Cussing and talking about lord knows, then while eating they got mobbed....then they told us. LOL weird day.
I was so ready to see them reunite and then they announce that the reunion is a cruise. I was like um, I have money for the tickets to the concert not the cruise. They reunite for the first time in so long and it's a cruise. Not many were able to experience this. :(

While I wish DC Talk were more prolific in musical output, every album starting with "Free at Last" and every album afterward is a masterpiece. DC Talk is, hands down, the best Christian group. I'd love to see them tour again.
Another thing that made me happy was when the video for "Heavenbound" hit, there was just pure love between different races and it was a positive atmosphere of good music and happy people; just hanging out and dancing.
While Don’t Tell ‘Em contains a melody from Rhythm is a Dancer, the first thing I thought of was That Kinda Girl. My favorite version of The Hardway is the Freak Show version. I feel it sounded darker than the original, and gave me chills.
