Don't have dancing like this anymore. In fact, hasn't happened in years. Such talent back then with no special effects, no loss of chemistry between performers. Old dude here and maybe a bit lost in today's world but, still, nothing like this in today's entertainment.

Just think, those people, with all that talented expertise are gone forever! What a loss to all of us.

Not disparaging this video. They're just using old clips. I have no problem with that. But, as to your comment, more easy for whom?! Did you not notice the blackface clips?!

    • @gma6296

@@davidrosoff3228 sorry I don't notice the color of a person. We are all one race human. Yes this was before Margaret Sager started plan parenthood created to end the black race. Praise GOD she hasn't achieved her goal! Also before a man running for president would say if you don't vote for me your not black. Yes there was a ugly part to those days yet there was a time when love for GOD family & country prevailed. Have a great day.🇺🇸

Amazing. I became Shirley every Saturday morning after my hair was curled up with painful rollers with pins that removed a layer of my skin. Oh to think back with a bloody big grin on my face 🤗. Saturday afternoons watching all those classic films. Priceless 💖💖

Answer to your question if musicals will return to movies? No they don’t make money. Back then was the earlier movie days and movies revolved around singing and dance numbers. Today’s movies will not do that. Go to a theater musical to see that.

Keep in mind you viewing a short few moments of a movie. It’s entertaining to view these short collections of dancing to modern music. Movie industry wouldn’t make a dime on these type of dancing and singing movies. A few exceptions but that is rare

Firstly these actors were highly trained professionals however, most ordinary people could also dance. It was regular part of life and taught in schools. Also people back in the 30's, 40's and 50's were much more physically fit, thinner and nimble and could pull off dancing somewhat like this. It was shameful and embarrassing to be fat and not be able to at least dance a little. Also personal style was much more stressed and important. People mostly wore athletic attire, like sweats, shorts, etc while playing an actual sport and seldom if ever wore stuff like that in public. Men wore proper shirts and slacks and women wore dresses, slacks, etc and both would wear jeans as well but they didn't look like slobs. More ordinary people also played sports than do in modern times. My parents grew up in the 50's and talked about this a lot and about how most people knew how to dance and participate at sports. They walked much more as well. Those times were definitely classier.

    LYRICS
Oh don't you dare look back
Just keep your eyes on me.
    I said you're holding back,
She said shut up and dance with me!
    This woman is my destiny
    She said oh oh oh
Shut up and dance with me
We were victims of the night,
    The chemical, physical, kryptonite
Helpless to the bass and faded light
Oh we were born to get together,
    Born to get together.
    She took my arm,
I don't know how it happened.
We took the floor and she said
Oh don't you dare look back
Just keep your eyes on me.
    I said you're holding back,
She said shut up and dance with me!
    This woman is my destiny
    She said oh oh oh
Shut up and dance with me
A backless dress and some beat up sneaks,
    My discothèque, Juliet teenage dream.
I felt it in my chest as she looked at me.
I knew we were born to be together,
    Born to be together
    She took my arm,
I don't know how it happened.
We took the floor and she said
Oh don't you dare look back
Just keep your eyes on me.
    I said you're holding back,
She said shut up and dance with me!
    This woman is my destiny
    She said oh oh oh
Shut up and dance with me
    Deep in her eyes,
I think i see the future.
I realize this is my last chance.
    She took my arm,
I don't know how it happened.
We took the floor and she said
Oh don't you dare look back
Just keep your eyes on me.
    I said you're holding back,
She said shut up and dance with me!
    This woman is my destiny
    She said oh oh oh
    Shut up and dance!
Oh don't you dare look back
Just keep your eyes on me.
    I said you're holding back,
She said shut up and dance with me!
    This woman is my destiny

Shut up and dance with me
Oh oh oh shut up dance with me

I love old movies, and I'd be willing to bet I've seen more than most people in l of my generation.
I was happy to see you included dancing from variety of groups, including the criminally underrated Hellzapoppin and other Black dancers.
Why, then, destroy all of that by featuring multiple clips of people dancing in Black-face? It's unacceptable. Blackface is about as racist as it gets. I know there are a variety of opinions on some of the Shirley Temple numbers, but I'd have let that slide. I counted 2 clips in Black-face, and there could have been more, I turned it off at that point.
Why include them? There are a lot of dance clips you could use, it's not like you had to scrape the bottom of the barrel. How about the iconic, gravity defying dancing of the Nicholas brothers? The Nicholas Brothers were at least as talented as any act ony that period, if not moreso.
Unfortunately, prejudice limited their venues and opportunities that allowed them to perform, as long as they used a specific entrance, found a bathroom designated for "colored" people, not to mention towns that would lynch any non-White person caught in their town after sundown.
I'm surprised not to see any other comments on this.
