It's funny that you show your saté ayam with lonton rice as I just learned how to cook that. In fact it's made of broken rice: you cook it for 30-60 minutes (in my case the rice was in a bag), leave it to cool down for a few hours and then you cut it into pieces. So tasty with peanut sauce and a great way to use second grade /broken rice.

If you are still in Ambon, don't forget to go to Hila, there is an Amsterdam fort, there is an old church that is a historical relic of the colonial period. Next time maybe you may can Ceram Island (Pulau Seram). That is the big island above Ambon island. You can go to Sawai. There's a lot of beautiful beach in there. You can scuba dive too. If you want to scuba dive in Ambon, you can go tu Pulau Tiga (Three Island) near Ambon 👍🏼

rujak had a different peanut sauce, which include crushed peanut, huge amount of brown sugar and chilies. rujak are served with a unripe fruits. this to make the crunchy bites and avoid mushy texture.
