- Full follow up review of my SBD Powerlifting 7mm knee sleeves after 6 months of use. These have been my favorite sleeves for heavy squat day since June when they were released, but I also try to share my use cases for a less aggressive sleeve style as well.
As a disclaimer, I am sponsored by SBD so of course I come with my biases, but I am excited to give this line a try.

Is there any difference between the momentum and the regular powerlifting sleeves, apart from the color?
Thanks for the video! Currently deciding between the OG one and the powerlifting.. planing to do aroun4-8 heavy reps .. I really don’t know what to take , saw other people saying the og ones are more stiffer
How do you think these compare to say Inzer or pioneer?
Good for all your leg days but inzer are better for PR or heavy days
@@edgardosantillan9759 thank you 🙏🏽 I ended up getting A7s. I got two pairs of inzers too but, neither one fit 😴 trying to see if they’ll swap me sizes lol.
@@isaiahstarks23what size did you get on the inzer
So if I want them for only squatting which is better to buy classic or powerlifting?
Do you think there is a direct increase in your squat? I know you said you thought you got stronger anyway after adding them but if you hadn't gained any actual strength do you think they'd have made a difference still? Thanks
Great question, so feel like any direct carryover is probably negligible (especially because I don't wear my sleeves crazy tight) So the thumbnail was meant to be a little sarcastic, but I do feel like they provide a more secure feeling to squat with which may have a mental confidence that does lead to some indirect carryover. I know that was wordy, but hopefully makes sense, tldr is that I like them and definitely feel a difference in support from them but it's tough to quantify👍
@@RodsStrengthTraining got you, that's super helpful. Thanks! Really enjoyed all your videos on the new sbd stuff they seem a lot more genuine than some of the ones just regurgitating marketing
I'm glad to hear that! I definitely do my best just to share my honest experiences as best as I can, so I'm glad that it comes off that way too. Thanks for the support💪
Got the inzer knee sleeves but not the biggest fan. I wanted to get the SBD Powerlifting knee sleeves for my squats and then the regular knee sleeves for all my accessories. You recommend getting both or just sticking to one?
If you are competing every year, hen powerlifters even do that they have 2 pairs of the powerlifting SBD sleeves or A7 rigor mortis knee sleeves that are either both exactly the same size or one is 1 size smaller for competitions. If you are not competing, it doesn't really matter. If you have 2 pair, they wear out slower
Have you found a slight difference between the momentum powerlifting sleeves and the original powerlifting sleeves? Wondering if I’m the only one
Hmm so personally I have been liking to use my momentum pair as well, but sometimes I'm not sure if it's just a placebo effect because they are newer and have been worn less haha
@@RodsStrengthTraining have you noticed the momentum are a tad softer by chance?
I want to buy knee sleeve which is best og or powerlifting knee sleeve or momentum knee sleeve in sbd???
If you lift heavy often, I would go with the Powerlifting knee sleeve personally, I still use and really like my OG style too as they are more comfortable, but for the most bang for your buck I'd go with the new style💪
@@RodsStrengthTraining, the problem with the OG ones is that when they get soaked from sweat, they don't help to bounce from the bottom at all, but the new ones still do
hi, love the review.
i want to buy the new sleeve but confused with the sizing. on the sbd size chart my size is M. my knee 35.5 cm and calve 39 cm. should 1 go with m or s?
My knee is 40 cm and calf is 43 cm and I find that L is too big, M feels good and tight, you probably need an S
I feel like power lifting model are the same as the new 7mm model. I can’t feel the difference
Thank you for the simple review of the two. I found it funny how hard it is to find videos that tell directly what is what.👍
Thanks for watching and I'm glad to hear it was helpful! 💪
Thanks for the review. I tend to do more volume work on squats, in the 5-12 rep range. Do you think the originals would be better suited for that?
Thanks for watching! But yes, if it were me, I would probably go with the OG 7mm sleeves in that case. They just tend to be a good bit more comfortable especially for those high rep sets, whereas the new design shines more in that heavy 1-5 rep range
That’s great, thanks for the reply, really appreciate the insight
Happy to help, best of luck in training💪
Hi, I want to buy the powerlifting knee sleeves, do you think incan size down by two sizes ? I'm a standard fit of 2XL
Yes, I think you should be able to! I personally measure in the 2XL range too and wear Larges. Hopefully that helps and thanks for asking💪
@RodsStrengthTraining thank you so much ! Beautiful video btw !
Thank you! I appreciate the support🔥🔥
