Biggest crime was changing the original red war void walker lore entry. It’s basically another guardian watching Ikora going absolutely berserk, launching the most insane Nova bombs at the attackers, there’s a line something like “I thought I was a warlock… Until I beheld Ikora Rey”
The streets were chaos. We fell under Cabal bullets and blades; red was the color of the day. Everywhere, red. Darkness found me three times that day and each time Ghost woke me, I woke to ever more red. I looked to the sky, but even there I saw nothing but the red reflection of a civilization burning to ash. Hope faded with the last of my Light; this was where I would meet my final death.
A flash of violet pulled my eyes from down sight. A Cabal ship careened out of the smoke, burning black-indigo. And I saw her, riding the wing, but she was gone in a blink as the ship smashed into the earth. She reappeared in the middle of a legion, and in a second half-heartbeat, rose into the air and dropped an explosion of void the likes of which I'd never seen.
I had believed I was a Voidwalker… until I beheld Ikora Rey.
It’s important to remember that when Calus had his Psions imagine possible futures, one that he had in mind was having the Guardian (Us, the player) as his Shadow, where we got into a battle with Ikora that forever damaged Mars itself from the fighting between the two of us.
Even in the fake future that Calus imagined his scribes knew Ikora was the real deal.
That lore page had one of the hardest lines I've ever read "Their battle turned the sands of Mars to glass, and then shattered them"
Wait, so the meme about how The Guardian raided spoils from Calus' flagship while Calus wrote fanfiction about The Guardian is 100% spot on for what went down following the death of Ghaul?
@@thedannydeathstroke absolutely. You can even check the Fanfiction in-game. It's the lore book called "Chronicon".
Remember, during the Red War when she was lightless on IO, Ikora took on an entire battalion of cabal with only her shotgun then proceded to beat them with said shotgun after she ran out of ammo.
For the record: fifth sigma means five standard deviations above the average, because sigma is the symbol for standard deviation.
Which is insane as 3 is already 99.87% of all guardians. In essence, Ikora is so rare that she is a statistical unlikely. If we were to use a One Sample T-Test and use the value of Ikoras power, she would actively prove the Null true.
In other words. She is such an outlier that she should not be able to exist.
The funny thing is, despite how statistically unlikely it was to have ikora in the first place, we had three separate guardians of relatively equal power existing at the same time. Ikora being 1, Osiris was the other, as proven by Twighlight Gap. Lastly though, is our very own Guardian. But our Guardian could be considered even more unlikely and rare, as despite being on par with Ikora, we are only a decade old, and she is centuries upon centuries. We are an even more unlikely happening because of this.

Probability favors IKO-006's existence but also her rarity: she is neither an average Guardian nor evidence for some special intervention by the Traveler. Complaints that her talents are overblown or inflated in order to reinforce her authority, or that she benefits from the special favor of a higher power, are sorely mistaken and ignorant of basic statistics. I think saying Ikora “learned and earned” her power is also key to understanding why the Guardian seems to be on her level as one of the strongest Guardians in history - both of them canonically beat Shaxx in separate 1 v 1 duels.
The Guardian is very young compared to Ikora, but they basically gained centuries of experience in a short time. Waking up in Old Russia led to facing the Fallen, which caused them to encounter the Hive, disrupt rituals on the moon, led to the Exo Stranger and being strong enough to end a Gate Lord. And of course Mars and the Black Garden. The Guardian got stronger and stronger essentially in a trial by fire few other Guardians have faced, to the point that the Traveler chose them to receive visions leading to the reclamation of the City in the Red War. They were only the “chosen one” because they were really the only one for the job.

In many ways this makes me frustrated that we promote guys like Ikora, Cayde, Shax and others past the point where their skills can be put to the most use. Sure Ikora is no stranger to field work but I can think of a handful of instances in which she could be out fighting instead of doing administrative stuff in the tower.
Her administrative work involves managing the Hidden. Shaxx is responsible for making Guardians stronger through the crucible.
You need intel to know where to point your big guns at. You need to have better Guardians because you can't place the main character everywhere at once.
Considering how many of the Last City's successes in the past few years involved people and groups working with Ikora (such as everything involving Eris) it is clear having her in a leadership position was vital to the City surviving as long as it has.
@kurtisl051 Thank you! Ikora is a perfect example of someone who truly grew and matured into a leader. All of her lore from her early years paint her as a wild hothead, someone who ran purely off of emotion and raw power.
Yet we see her as a voice of reason, a leader who controls a vast intelligence network, and one of the best planners and strategists in the City.
Ikora fought through her character arc, learned her lessons, and matured into an amazing leader. Even Osiris admits that Ikora is a better leader than he was. Without her and Zavala leading the Vanguard, the City would have already fallen.
They don’t need Ikora in the field. They have the Guardian for that. Ikora and the Hidden find the targets and fire the bullet named the Guardian at it. Ikora is more useful putting her big brain to work leading the warlocks.
It only makes sense to have the strongest in charge, that way they can pass their knowledge down
Ikora may be strong, but she'd gladly lose her rank as 5th sigma guardian if it meant making the guardians in general as strong as she is
A single player narrative game of just Ikora learning and Earning her place as the Warlock Vanguard would be awesome.
I think someone did some research to find out what level her intellect would have to be at in order for her to change supers as quickly as she did in the Season of the Splicer cutscene, between her throwing Nova Bomb and then going into Nova Warp shortly afterward.
But honestly, I’m pretty sure she’s changed supers much more quickly than that, such as in the WQ campaign, where she Nova Bombs an ogre, then just a few seconds later, creates a THREE-PRONGED CHAOS REACH that even WE can’t do.
in the lore we can actually do that, in the lore the guardian is actually much more powerful then the game play. in the lore guardians can use all the powers of the light regardless of class(a warlock can use a titan's ability or the best example is the hunters learning how to blink from warlocks)
@@h13n12nah-ah, using light abilities regardless of class can only a few guardians. Some can learn 1 or 2 abilities from another class but Most of them tied to their class. Even Drifter says that it stupid to have a class system in the first place, when you can learn anything.

Yes and no. The development of classes and subclasses was what gave the Iron Lords the edge over the Warlords because it gave the Iron Lords a way to focus their light abilities.
The three pronged chaos reach was void and in curse of osiris. The ogre into a chaos reach was arc and a single beam.
Definition of hardwork pays off
What's even more crazy, is that she met with an Ahamkara and wished it to change her. I assume from the way it's told, it changed her whole freakin brain chemistry to be less emotional and more calculating like a straight badass.
Makes me proud to be a warlock main. However many hundred(s) of years she's been around she didn't squander her time.
Ikora earned my respect when she used arc and void supers back to back in witch queen. That was some witchcraft.
i've heard the only other person to do back-to-back supers in the lore was Osiris when he genocided the remainder of Crotas lineage, but it also lost him Sagira so...
Man, she did more for the City than zavala in the witch queen, she learned how to use the darkness to get the answers she need so we can defeat savathun in her campaign.
Honestly it would make sense if Ikora was revealed to have prismatic before we got into the traveler. The amount of times she's pulled out two different supers at once is not less than one and it's been separate elemental supers before.
Edit: Good points being made the prismatic is the mixing of light and dark. I will add though that Ikora and any guardian who can do this in lore is complete BULLSHIT. I wanna have those powers :(
Prismatic is specifically the ability to use dark and light at the same time, which apparently no one’s done yet (canonically). It is perfectly lore accurate for guardians that have mastered the different light elements to swap between them on the fly/at the same time

Things like that are always great because of how it retroactively boosts our player character, We, the Guardian, are the most powerful guardian overall, the witness even recognises our power during the final shape and confirms as much that we are far above our peers and it makes sense, we've killed gods, melted armies and frequently go through the strongest opponents just because we want more loot and goodies, look at gambit for one, we frequently just go and murder the deadliest level of taken for sport.
We master Void, Arc, Solar, Stasis and Strand, and then smooshed them all together for prismatic...
There is a reason why we always end up being sent to deal with any problems...
doesn't change the fact that every time I talk to her she somehow ends up with all my glimmer.
The lore of this game is astounding
If her past life Ikora used to be an operator in the tactical squad of team rainbow, her main weapon was a shield modified with tazer that can shoot at enemy operators.
Crazy how she just chills in the tower all the time, a ghostless guardian helps more than her 💀
Also in a lore entry in elsies timeline she fought an evil version of our character and the fight splits mars in half
Her beating Shaxx in single combat is impressive enough.
Now I understand why Ghost wonders if Ikora gives hugs to ghosts
"She learned it, and earned it" and honestly does fuck all with it.
Makes sense why she can cast multiple super back to back. Nova to chaos reach in WQ campaign, nova bomb to nova warp during the end of season 14 for example.
She is also literally undefeated in the crucible. She has never lost.
IkoraBae 💜 I can't believe she also does Strand now too 😭😭😭
Learned it and earned it
That right there is why so many players think Ikora is a badass. She is an appropriate mix of "show and tell" in storytelling via interactions, cinematics, and lore.
Other entertainment groups (and media) would do well to study what was done with Ikora.
I wish we saw more of her doing things in-game
And yet I’m the only guardian than can slay gods and the witness. She only can speak dialog. Don’t even think she was doing anything in the final fight except dialog of a cutscene
So basically Vegeta, no plot armor power ups, just straight work. Got it.
I just wish she would get a truly badass scene where we get to see the depths of her power. Saint, Osiris, and Cayde-6 got to look like absolute badasses.
Plus the fact that she can shoot a shotgun with one hand is pretty badass as well
I seen her use 3 supers under a minute while permanently warlock floating and I knew she was off the chain
“She learned it, and earned it.”
Fantastically fitting line for a fantastic character.
She’s the goat at being the most boring character. Don’t care how “strong” they make her still boring af.
@@simplyfitness892 you’re, of course, free to feel that way. Sorry ya don’t enjoy her character as much as I or others do.
Everyone I know hates her.
@@simplyfitness892I like how you saying this is considered "bad," but it's legitimately fine.
@@simplyfitness892her being bland when it comes to her emotions and kinda being blah is probably because of a wish she made during the Great Hunt to not let her emotions get in the way of her duties
