- In this video, we take a '65 Princeton and restore it to original spec. This Princeton was modded in the 90s and the client wanted it brought back to stock. During the repair, I had to run home and do a little family stuff, and then took a trip to my favorite bakery for refueling.
That was a 'sacrilege' what was done to a '65 original Princeton by a prior owner . . . y'all did a great job on the Princeton . . . just watched your vid with Ms Faxio 👍 😎 . . .
Very nice repair Pat and the amp sounds amazing ,I really enjoy watching old amp restorations and learning alot because I have a few old amps that need some love but I think I will leave to more qualified people for these amps ,cleaning pots and such yes but thats as far asI want to go even with some electronic and theory training ,yes im a retired Electrician
Great job. I have the same exact amp bought in 1984 when I was 14 yrs old. Always had crackling noise issues and shelved it until 3 yrs ago when I decided to resurrect it. Issue was the paper circuit board was warped (probably from moisture from the previous owner) and a bunch of solder was dumped on various joints causing large solder blobs underneath to short against the chassis. I replaced the board with a hard turret style, replaced bypass caps and now it rings like a bell. Thought I’d share. Cheers!
Great work, I agree with keeping amps stock like cars in case the owner wants to sell.👍👌🎸
Cool ! Thanks !!!!! Happy New Year !!!!!!
Another great video!
Speaker looks interesting, do you know what it might be? JBL?
When you say "they are biased too hot", do you mean above the 70% or above stock? Thanks in advance 👍
Nice work. Just out of curiosity, what speaker did that old gal have in her?
It had a CTS in it. Not a speaker that would of been in it originally.
Do you test new caps with an LCR meter? Curious what the quality on those Hayseed caps measures, I’ve had bad luck with CE Manufacturing. Thanks for the tip on those!
The Hayseed caps have been excellent for me. I only tested them when I first started using them about two years ago.
Got a Princeton mod (but different than this one, boogie-ish) that might need some un-modding too
i have a mystery tweed fender bassman that i cant date,, it looks like a 50's model, its got the era correct badge, but the base plate with all the controlls is roached out annd i cant make out what was once printed on it, eeveything looks right but im thinking its an old counterfeit. i wish i could send it to you to check it out but that would be expensiive
Be careful with hayseed, they are shady. Blueglow Electronics has a great video as to why..
Anyone told you you look like T.J. Miller
