Alright, this has been a controversial topic and I’m glad to see engagement and the thoughts of many experienced players. The point of the video is this: no matter what minimal investment, time to clear, etc that individuals are able to achieve it takes at least a couple months to turn a profit on a boss mule. If you have a long term mindset and plan on playing consistently for several months. Boss mules are the most effective way to play the game. But, that does not mean it is the best way to play the game for you. Many people do not play the game that long, do not make it past lomien, never experience the game past 250. Making boss mules will make experiencing that part of the game take longer. If you fall into the early/mid game group I encourage you to consider how you play the game and make an informed decision to determine if you enjoy mules or want to get into mid game bossing.
This whole vid is straight up missinfo, I think you should be ashamed to have it up targeted at new players, presented as fact, using entirely wrong numbers that get you to a way different conclusion than what reality represents. I watched this video as a new player, and now coming back after a year+ Ive gotta say, this video is filled with more inaccuracies than i can count. Over the course of this year Ive made 12 boss mules a 275 character and a 285 character, so I think my opinion is pretty credibly as someone who has gone through the process of funding and creating these characters on the recent patches. Your cost calculation is so ridiculously off, I dont even know where to start. Even replying to your addendum, it does not take a couple of months to turn a profit. Before I get into the numbers, a TLDR: CRA mule makes 540m per week accounting for opportunity cost, and pays itself off in less than 6 weeks. After 6 weeks you make ~9b a week with 16 CRA mules, capping boss crystals. Eventually, during star force events, you can upgrade 12 of those mules to lomien using the profits from the mules, and make ~13b a week (accounting for opportunity cost). Lomien mules made on SSF event take ~5 weeks to pay back. If you ignore the opportunity cost it is even more profit (770m week per CRA, 1bil akechi/cpap, and 1.4b lomien) and honestly ignoring the opportunity cost is legitimate because bossing for 2-3 hours a week is a lot more fun than grinding for most people, and you probably are not trading bossing time for grinding time 1 to 1. Now lets get into the math: 1. A player starting on boss mules should never just rawdog 10 lomien mules. Any guide will tell you this, so Im not sure why you are using an example for literally the most kitted out lomien mule. You start with CRA mule, and then make them stronger as you get extra resources. CRA and Cpap akechi mules function with 12* gear which is ~0.3b, but lets say 0.5b to make math easy. Legendary WSE from epic is 0.7b per piece, so 2.1b total. I dont know why you said 4 pieces of gear legendary, you dont need gloves with crit rate for even a lomien mule, let alone one of these mules. Once legendary, rolling 2 useful lines on all 3 pieces is ~0.4b total. epic>legendary and 2line costs a total of 2.5b. Adding that to the starforce, 3b total for a CRA mule. Transitioning the mule to CPap/akechi is free, you just put more nodes into the mules as you go and work on flames on pots from the free boss drops. CRA mules make 770m a week, and usually take more like 20 minutes to run than 30. Cpap/akechi makes 950m in 30 mins. Meso per hour is also higher than in your calculations, lets use 700m/hr even though in the carcion with max buffs you can get up to ~780m/hr. thats ~230m per 20 minutes, so each CRA mule makes a profit of 540m per week which means 6 weeks to pay off the character. With 17 mules (enough to cap crystals alongside your main), this will make you 9.1b a week of pure profit. You can also get less good potentials if you have more nodes invested, which makes this even cheaper. You can also reinvest this profit into the mules to slowly make the runs faster and eventually become strong enough for lomien. 2. Time/gear: Now I know some stuff has changed since this video. Its become free to hit level 220 and above from events, and pno prequest is only required once per account. The only real time cost associated with making a mule currently is abso weeklies, which leads into the gear point. Abso is not required for any mule including lomien, but especially not CRA or CPap mules. Abso is a waste of time unless you want to do it, setting up a CRA mule doesnt take more than an hour. Abso will pretty much never save you enough time on your runs to be worth doing the weeklies, just use pensilear and boss set unless you want to make the character stronger because its fun. 3. Starforce. This is so wrong in several ways. First off, the price is wrong. Most of the gear is level 140-150, with infinite dupes making safeguarding unnecessary. These cost 800b off event, with the couple absos being at 1.1bil. For simplicity Ill use 150 gear as an average, which is overpriced but does give us the 1b per piece. Second: Starforce events are far too common to ever justify pushing starforce off event on a mule, so we will use at least 30% off event, but honestly you should only push mules on SSF because theyre progression is so insignificant overall. 30% off brings the price to 700m per piece, SSF brings it to ~475m per. optimal scenario we have already bumped down your price by half. Third: 17* is extremely inefficient and unnecessary for lomien mules. 16* star gives nearly the same gains, and on 30% only costs ~380m per piece (325m per piece on SSF). Most players making cheap and efficient starter mules like CRA mules only go up to 12*, which costs 30m. Then, on 5/10/15, you upgrade those mules to 16 with the money you have farmed bossing on them. then, on SSF, you make 17* stars and it ends up costing you ~3b. This takes the total cost to ~5.5bil when combined with the 2.5b that you already spent on the legendary WSE potential. missing out on the 350m you would get by grinding, this comes out to 1.05bil per week profit. This pays itself off in 5 weeks, obviously. with 12 of these characters, thats 12.6b per week. Meso is very important to progression, and the only way to obtain the amount of meso you need to push your gear in the late game is via boss mules or grinding literally 12+ hours a day every day. Sure you lose some frags and nodestones, but the insane rate of income that boss mules provide are to good to skip. You have a point that early players should not be bothering with mules, but using straight up incorrect numbers to represent that opinion to players that dont know any better is an awful thing to do. Personally I used these numbers to hold off on making mules and once i started making them, I instantly realized you were wrong.
Farming on your main not only makes 400mil+/hr (which already provides more than enough mesos for your main+), but also once 6th job comes out, will get you the new 6th job power thingy from farming in sac maps. Also sacred force symbols will be able to drop soon. So soon, spending hours every week tediously doing boss mules for mesos you dont even need will result in gains lost on your main in sacred force and 6th job power. I'd rather farm on my main, make more than enough mesos (400+ mil/hr), and get fams or sacred force(soon)/sixth job power(later).
I started plating maple in January this year. I recently made my first boss mule from hyperburning in savior, and I'm trying to make a couple more, but they are so expensive. The only reason I started making boss mules is because my main on reboot is lvl 267, sitting on 21/22 star items for the most part including arcanes, and I'm in pitch boss jail. I solo up to hlomien and h lucid. You absolutely do not need boss mules to fund your main, especially early on.
As someone 10 lonmien mule, 2slime mule(1 in transistion to Hlotus mule) and 2 hlotus black heart farmer mule Imho I think they were effective and efficient pre boss change and if you were at least mid late game Right now with hlmoien hellux train gone due to boss carry change Lomien boss mules are much harder to make and is not as efficient and I think akkechi mules are the golden started for new players 220 lonmien mules pre boss changes were effective esp if you're mid to late game player that can trade hlmoien I could realistically print out a sub 25min clear lomien mule pre 7-8b with almost no time farming by using exp events Which made it less then a month or two to get investment back But for a new player starting now Yeah I would not recommend lmoien mules but akkechi mules You can get away with just pure all 12 star, not even abso, 9 boss set, lv 210, Just need unqie/legendary WSE with 2 useful line with 300 nodes That can be made within 3-4b and print a 1b~ per week under 30 min Which makes it slightly over 1 month to bossing to see investment That's my 2 cent on this as someone who loves boss mules and capped crystal every week for almost a year +
This makes sense, but the question posed is mainly for people thinking about making their first mule and explaining the trade off. My experience has been people do it way to early which distracts from progression that could get them further into the game. This is before players really know if they are going to play for long enough for it to be worth it. That’s the gist of what I mean. If players are confident they will play for several months boss mules are the most effective way to earn mesos!
@@JamoosinYT yeah I'd agree on that I think boss mule are thing you make when you've made all the easy gains on main and are waiting on spare and event Since you will be just saving money for months on end, might as well use it on mules and start getting "interest" from the money that would be just rotting in storage
But if a player want to make a boss mule earlier then usual I think making few akkechi boss mules won't be bad I really do think printing akkechi mules are the new meta and using 17 stat scrolls and event to push them into lomien territories in long term
Honestly i never did the calcs or anything and nowdays i have at least 3 mules at 220, which can do up to cpap and i'm never touching them simply, cuz i don't want to, but i would never say i spent this much on those. It felt really natural and smooth and i feel like they self-funded themselves in about 5 weeks.
TL;DR - Play at your own pace, find what's fun for you whether that be making boss mules or reaching end game. Some thoughts: legion/links is a pretty big incentive as well if you are thinking about a boss mules; my legion is 6k because I have 2 chars 250, my current main, and a bossing hero that can cra...(I actually don't really like legion) I think I would make one more bossing mule to be as fun and efficient for me. I don't really worry crazy about the cost cause at the end of the day, I see it boss mules as a source of revenue if I need it. It's shining sf the day I'm posting this, so I'm gonna make my 4-5ish bil from bossing and see what I make from farming on my current main. This is why maplestory rn is enjoyable for me. I used to slave away at the meta, but now I just do things when I want to, and I like the nature of bossing with my party, since we're party progressing.
For reg server 10000%. You're not doing it for the crystal but you're doing it for the drops that you can sell svc for such as cubes. Very rewarding and very profitable. The mesos you gain from the crystals is just a nice addition.
@@ryanhoang1123 Tradable drop gear and cubing event rings for drop is my go to method for mules. Most events I'm able to get 2-3 event drop rings setup
Only selling point in boss mules is that instead of making 400m in grinding I make 1b in 30 mins and never have to log onto maple ever again till rest of the week then cube/sf on my main
I think mid-game is the best time to make boss mules personally and is probably the most important thing to start doing ASAP. I'm at the point on my main where going from 17* full abso/cra/sup to either 22* abso/cra/sup or starting my arcane is going to cost way way more and be way more RNG than I've spent on the 6 boss mules I made in the past month or so (5 weeks no arcane rn too :c) I'm also pulling in nearly 6x as much meso as I would be if I had stuck to just one character. So I think this is really poor advice, especially for new players, because with the events we have now you can and should passively level boss mules (I've got a 215,220,220,227,232 with hardly any grinding and then my 250 hyperburn) and I spend maybe 2 hours a day total on dailies if that for AF quests on everyone. Which yes is a lot of time now, but the plan is to get the first 3 symbols to LV.10+ then switch to only doing weeklies on them. In another month or so I'll be able to spend one day a week playing a lot and raking in 8b+ and then the other days are completely free for focusing on my main. (Or taking a break from playing so much / playing other games) The 5 month number is insane, I've barely been playing reboot half that long and I have two chars that can solo Lomien rn. (One was from hyper burning but still) By the time I get to the 5 month mark I'll have all the mules I need forever and will have probably made ~120b just off bossing / dailies as opposed to the maybe 30b AT MOST if I just stuck to bossing / dailies on my one main. This is just quick napkin math but that would mean to make up for the other 90b I'd have to farm 225hrs with 400m/hr rates (which would also require making drop and meso gear & using WAP and keeping those stocked) or 2.25 hours a day+dailies to reach that amount. I'd have to play 3 hours+ each day in perpetuity to keep making 40b/month as opposed to the 2 hours/day right now for another month or two and then having it drop off to maybe a day of bossing each week and quick dailies on my main for the other days. Bossing is also just way more chill imo than spending that long grinding. Using WAPs you're locked into 2 hours of grinding without being able to stop where as bosses can be split up whenever, you can take breaks in between, you can do them different days if you want too. Technically yes, you can make a similar amount just farming on one character but it's such a painful way to do it when you could be shortening the time you have to spend playing long term. The boss mule route also sets you up for being able to jump everyone up to slime fairly easily at that point, then lucid/will, and exponentially will keep scaling in a way that you couldn't keep up with on one character.
I agree you should start boss mules in the mid game. I disagree with new players making boss mules. Over 90% of people who pick up the game never beat Lomien. Over 93% never beat lucid. How can someone say it’s good advice to new players to make boss mules who never make it this far? It’s not, it will keep them gated into earlier content for longer. I don’t think it’s bad for longer term players. Everyone seems to brush over the fact that I identify a break even point. Of course it’s beneficial after that point. The only people that seem to have a problem with this video are long term players that don’t relate to the trade offs I showcased or are held up on the number I came up with which is I plan on making a video that addresses this further. Appreciate your inputs :)
Do not make boss mules, make more mains. You will enjoy playing mains every week and constantly progressing over time with the benefit of making more weekly mesos with more bosses to kill. If it is a mule and not a main, you won't enjoy the character and burn yourself out. Plus you get to the point on a character where you make so little gains that it basically feels like no gains and to get that sense of progression again you make more mains and enjoy new journeys.

This, every hyper burning I have a new submain, last event was paladin and now it's marksman, all are fully equipped, including superior gollux set and fairy heart 😂
I agree with you. Most of the characters that classified as boss mules, I don't enjoy playing. I don't even boss for the purpose of mesos; only play for fun
@@eMDiKhamPha People like burst classes, but sustain damage classes are way better to boss with for a multitude of reasons. Ark, Nightlord, Nightwalker, Demon Slayer, etc. are all burst classes and not great at bossing because of their mechanics.
I told myself 6 lomien boss mules then its back to the grind on my main. Currently im a 253 DW at 37k stat which is a decent parking spot. I turned an geared up my old arkanna farmer i to a bosser, ignition hyper burned an adele and this update i hyper burned a hero and now doing the tera burned khali event on her. I set a base line goal for my characters for max trinodes, full abso full cra and full reinforced gollux but my problem atm is nodes and gollux. Slowly but surely these characters will get done and these events lately have been so nice on nodes and symbols. If they could make clover piggies come back id be over the moon cuz as controversial as that was that sped up progress so god damn fast. 😅
@@dominicnguyen4551 so right around the 250 mark exactly, since all my gear was 17* 2 line i decided to get into hard parties and get 17* arcanes, after my arcanes thats when I started working on boss mules and such only ever hoping on my main for dailies and daily bosses/weekly bosses. I took long breaks from maple too and went hard for the ignition event, took advantage of the clover pigs and nodes and it helped fund my main and boss mules at the time.
More meso to get more stats for characters to get to 250 faster so you can have a better legion score to get more stats for characters to get to 250 faster.
In addition you're gaining legion levels and raid power for legion coins. I have 12 250 mules that all do nslime and below in less then 20 mins with no gskills, pulling in 22b+ a week. Yeah it will take a sizable investment of time and meso to make the engine, but maple is a long term game if you have any asperations of end game content.
Appreciate your input, and you are 100% right. You are in the .1% of the player base. The point of the video is to showcase that boss mules only work with a long term mindset. The vast majority of players never make it past lomien or to 250, but they’ve been told to make boss mules. This video will help newer players identify if it actually makes sense for them
How would this change if you still had no meso/drop gear on your main and took advantage of hyperburning to get those mule some early gear and nodes, making it kinda self funded? Anyway, the last part of the video is the key in the end, do what you like, not what is efficient. If you prefer bossing to grinding, or even just playing different classes from time to time, mules are great.
I think if you lack meso and drop gear you are likely at a point where you would be better off investing in your main than other characters. However, definitely take advantage of events, they are by far the most effective way to create new characters. It’s not a bad thing to create boss mules, but there is a tangible trade off that I wanted to explore a bit in the video. This trade off is more relevant for newer players who should consider how they enjoy the game and how long they will realistically be playing for
You don't NEED 17 stars to clear Lomien though. 16 is plenty and is significantly cheaper/easier to reach. I spent maybe 2-3bil on my Thunder Breaker to turn him into a Lomien mule, and all of that mesos was mesos earned by his own daily/weekly boss clears.
I am a player who plays this game from time to time due to certain factors. I like the progression but at lvl 230 i just seem to get halted damage whise/bossing. So i stop. Now when i get halted i make another character and work towards that point again. Effectively creating bossmules that can kill up to cpap. Legion seems to be the biggest hurdle and time sink there is. As you need 6k legion for that EID which is a must for bossing effectively. So i make it fun for myself by creating new chars and see what they are about. This event makes it really easy to level up quite fast and getting those symbols/nodes up. I do have full drop/meso gear on my original main but the only issue is that grinding was the thing that burned me out. Just doing simple bossing is where its at for me. So with bossing it just way more chill you can take breaks. Spread it over a week time. Sure i try to do my dailies but it feels not wasted to skip 1 daily from time to time where if i did not grind, you had almost no income and progression what so ever. So i'm not creating boss mules i'm creating different mains.
by taking advantage of hyperburns, the cost of a lomien mule can be very very greatly reduced.....which is why my lomien mules are hyper burns. They have legendary WSE, and everything else except event rings are max 6%. i also only give them nodes that are untradable from the hyperburn event, so they dont take away anything from my main. my DW takes ~25 min for nslime and below , my BM takes ~23 for nlomien and below. +5min each with the recent unlocking of pno. still, bossing mule is only for people that enjoy bossing and/or want to progress account but dislikes repetitive grinding
200-250 I wouldnt worry about it to much, worry about leveling and bossing on your main even in parties for gear 250-275 Use events to make boss mules such as the 250 burning or khali event take advantage off free rewards like nodes and arcane symbols 275+ 100 percent yes, realisticly you want 12 characfers to boss on weekly for the 20b income as you push 275-285 because you will.need to start 22 starring all your gear
That makes sense to me, but rather than levels I would base it on progress in terms of boss tiers. I would start after breaking into lucid and will clears on your main. At this point you have invested a lot of time into the game and are probably committed to longer term play as well. The progress here starts to stagnate a lot more and requires heavier investment
Males CRA mules is the way to go, some mules are way to cracked and easily make 750m (half of a lomien bossmule) and take way less than half the effort, probably, 1/4th the effort. The thing is, your account gets stronger and stronger everyday, legion, links, etc. Today you can solo CRA at level 200 with just your skill nodes if your class is cracked and you have 9 boss set effect and leg secondary and Emblem
Work through the analysis and it ends up being similar just on a smaller scale. Doesn’t really change much. I already assume you are doing legion/link. Think about: How long does it take to clear with so little? This influences your profit: income - opportunity cost How much does useful legendary lines cost on 2 items? At least a bil, but probably more unless you are lucky. What other items are you investing in? Starforce, CRA gear, the boss set Did you spend on VJ symbol or run any dailies? What other time are you putting in outside of the legion/link leveling on the character? There is at least some.
i lke the video and the compersion you have made, although bossing on mule is very time consuming 1 hour might be correct for a new boss mule, with time you can get better at the mule mechanics and clear up to lomien in less then 20 min the mules are going to become stronger and stronger just with boss flames and boss cubes, you can start with a cra boss mule (prob 2b-5b investment) and progress with it up to lomien and even elucid/nslime somtimes u can go struggle with them harder bosses and get better gear drops a(and more meso), bossing is somthing u dont have to use coupons to do, unlike farming - it means i can take a break after each boss (every 2-3 min) 50% additional exp coupons also drops from bosses, with 10 boss mules i get around 20 of them ever week starforcing a mule guild with sf events, and cubing with boss drops cubes (hard / solid) make the gear alot cheapr which drops the total sum from 15b~ to 7.5b~ 220 might be idle level for lomien +20 fd%, but that level is still in the "easy levels" range, boss mule is not 220 forever, getting to 235 is completly doable and will grant your mule more node slots not to mention how hyper burns can get to 250 with out a sweat ( and l the free level up potion and exp events) i did not crunch numbers but my estimation is it takes around 10 weeks to see a return from bossing mules Although i think ypur analysis is just scratching the first phase of a boss mule, i have enjoyed the analysis and the thought process keep the great work
I agree with all your points. They are well said and accurate. As you said this only scratches the surface. The analysis was meant to be simple and easy to understand, but not perfect by any means. I think there is a disconnect from the people that play maplestory religiously and what the majority of the player is, which are much more casual. If your time is limited and maplestory is not a game you will be playing consistently long term it’s important to know that boss mules take a long term mindset to be worth investing in. This is the point I wanted to hammer home. Even including the opportunity cost and spending as little as a couple bil, it would still takes months to see a return. Not many people play games that consistently, and if you are just starting out, it will certainly slow down your progress in experiencing later parts of the game in the short term.
I think your analysis is probably reasonable for newer players, but way overestimate the cost for even mid-game players 1. Tiering to unique is almost free (if you have enough patience) because you can just use cubes that drop from bosses. These cubes are probably completely useless on your main anyways. Also SF cost is not as bad as you described as long as you do it on event. So meso expense might be more like 10B if you have enough patience 2. It's just not efficient to spend 1hr on your bossing mule per week. If you can't efficiently reach
These are good points, but don’t change that it still takes a long time. It’s important to say weeks/months, because you don’t get a tangible benefit from your mule for actual months because you can’t due to 1 clear a week. This means you need to be an active player for months. There is a strong dedicated player base that does this. But, most people don’t and never make it far enough for the mules to make a difference. It is undeniable that in the long term mules are the optimal approach. Many people will get more out of the game by just progressing their main earlier with their mesos than waiting. Everyone says to wait. Wait for events, hold out on boss mules because they will turn a profit, etc. Many people would get to see more of the game by not doing this.
forgot the fact that not everyoen wants to train in a map for dozens of hours a week so yes bossing mule is the correct choice and your 15bil estimate is massively over inflated you dont need all 17 stars. you can inject 2-3bil and have a CRA bossing mule that earns almost 1bil a week and continue to do that for mutliple characters
Please watch the full video and the illustrated video to understand what I’m talking about. Nothing changes with a CRA mule. Change the numbers and do your own analysis. Make the decision that makes sense for you, sound like you play quite a lot. Boss mules are probably the best route for you.
Nice vid as always bro. You think you can make a video on the efficiency of upgrading your Arcane Symbols in comparison to other methods of increasing damage? I feel like the 100 stat gained from Symbols is as lot but since they keep getting more expensive I'm wondering if there's a point when the stat increase isn't worth the mesos to upgrade it in comparison to other things like pot and starforce. I'm also thinking of getting some of my boss mules to 225 instead of 220 for the Arcana symbol but I dunno
It’s an interesting topic. Because of the way damage is calculated it’s very difficult to do 1:1 comparisons of different sources of damage, but looking at it in a vacuum with a character could be interesting. Appreciate the thoughts!
Love this idea especially for someone who play in burning world like me with minimal meso income (from ursus and daily bosses), decide to level up an arcane symbol really make me stress no cap!

Just play the way you want, no one is forcing you to stay level 220. Just 225? I even leveling them to 235 for all 6 symbols, and more node slot > more skill, much better 😂
Tbh i dont agree, i enjoy bossing regularly on multiple characters i enjoy playing, i say do it if you like doing it, if you dont just farm, both are viable options, or do both, you dont have to follow meta people, play how you want to play
When to do boss mules?in my opinion: 6k legion + main can party do first 4 hard bosses(lucid,will,lomium)/solo it in normal + drop & miso gear.😂 in other words, main start to grow in a very slow slow stage No legion no link skill no drop gear for nodes, what is the purpose of doing boss mules.😅 After solid foundation was builded, then only talks about boss mule.lastly if decided to do a boss mule, only do it during hyper burn event.
ngl seems to me kinda weird that you assume a lomien boss mule needs full 17* gear, while taking it 1 hour to do its weeklies, tho i am not playing reboot, i assumed it takes even less funding to perform besides that, you say that mules set back your main's proggression, but a lot of times you are better off waiting for a big event anyway, in the meantime you can have already made a profit on a mule ; also with all these hyperburns you basically get a free boss mule every 6 months
No you don’t at all, but for a casual player to comfortably clear… yes. An hour is just an easy number that I think leaves plenty of time for people working through all their weeklies. Can it be done much faster? Yes. I even laid out a list of caveats that this will vary on a billion different variables yet people still get fixated on small things not the overall point. I am confident after so many videos that the people who play MapleStory long term tend to be disconnected from what early game progression and a normal player with a normal amount of time to play games who tries out MapleStory experiences. If you are getting into the game people will tell you to make boss mules. This video showcased that it takes months for it to be even worth it. Even if I took the cheapest boss mule people pointed out to me it would still take over 2 months. I’m not saying that’s bad. I explicitly state everything after that is profit it’s good in the long term. But is that good for every player that stumbles onto maplestory? No. It will stunt progression as they put resources that could get them into lucid, will and beyond quicker than dumping it into other characters. It’s not a good strategy for a large portion of people that pick up the game.
Its a viable strategy even if you are new and dont put in many hours. Also most youtubers i watch do recommend making meso and drop gear on main before going for boss mules. But even if its more efficient to only farm on main, i doubt the majority of casual players choose that route anyway. Ofcourse im not saying you should start a boss mule 2 weeks after you created your account but after certain core milestones, like legion links and meso gear, which are your first goals anyway, why not go for a boss mule if you dont feel grinding your ass off? Honestly the only resource thats problematic for a new player are the nodestones, otherwise you can make a lomien boss mule with way less than 15b Anyway, despite what im saying i appreciate your video, as it gives a good perspective to a new player.
I'm not understanding this hypothetical player that is not interested in playing long term, will not invest in mules to make their account stronger, but will invest in meso/drop gear and grind up to the point of making 400m/hour. I don't think a new player with no long term progression in mind is getting to that point.
If you don’t have that, how are you even earning enough for a boss mules? Daily/early weekly boss clears? One of the first main goals for an account is getting enough stat to 1 shot mobs at your level and meso/drop gear for nodes/mesos while you grind. If you don’t have meso/drop you likely haven’t funded your main to 17 star gear, legendary lines, higher lvl nodes, etc. let alone a mule. You are still very much at the beginning of the game. The perspective of somebody at this point in the game is not “I’m going to be playing for several months”. It’s how do I get the next small step up in power. Many experienced long term players don’t even know if they will be playing consistently for months. Many take this approach and never make it to lucid/will before they get burnt out and quit. I’m not saying don’t do it, but think about this stuff and make a good decision for you. Get the most out of and enjoy the game with the time you do end up deciding to spend in it.
The intention of the video is good but unfortunately it is based on false/overrated premises. For a start, I'd recommend Level 230 for a Lomien bossing mules, as both take a long time due to the weakness of the character at level 220 (you have more nodes for v skills + symbols at level 230 to not exceed more than 8 min for each run). In any case, lomien is a waste of time and efficiency, as the meta is more cPap and Aketchi bossing mule. In a maximum of 20 min, you can guarantee 1b per character, for a very low investment in both mesos and gear. I already had 6 characters who could solo all until lomien bosses between 20 and 22 minutes last year, and I was able to create 6 aketchi bossing mules simultaneously in just 3 weeks in December. All you need are two unique (so not legendary) lines, which are almost free because you will have obtain it from bossing. For starforcing, once again the median cost in the event of a 5/10/15 event for each piece of gear is 700m mesos. There are 9 pieces of equipment, so the total investment in starforcing is about 6.3b. If you add a 1B investment for the WSE, the character will cost you around 7B in less than two months of bossing. The investment will pay for itself in less than two months of bossing.
Even if you start changing all the numbers around it’s still a couple months to turn a profit. The point is that this is a long time. Many people do not play in a way that this is beneficial. I’m highlighting that if you don’t have a long term mindset it’s really a false bill of goods with how many people say to do it. I think many people would benefit from just continuing to progress on their mains. It is undeniable that after the break even point boss mules are the most effective way to earn mesos, and building an economy of mules is a great strategy for long term consistent players
Great video , but u need to work on legion which.. I would suggest to use hyper burning opportunities for mules, or events like 230 khali.. I have playing reboot for around three years now, got 7.5k legion All link skills 6 bossing mules and one main I make +8b a week Sometimes i do not have time to play daily, i do weekly bosses in the weekend in four hours.. So its good to have both
100% agree with you. Assumed people would already be going to 210 for link/legion hence why I looked at 210-220. The point on fast leveling events for mules is a good one. Saves on a lot of the resources I discussed as trade offs. Can’t believe I forgot to include a note on that haha Definitely time is the limiting factor in all things MapleStory for me. So these trade offs may be different depending on how much time you have. Great inputs!
L take because the influx of 20b instant cash every week and the opportunity to do it at anytime of the week is better than farming on ur main. In addition, 450m/hr is based on WAPs+legion meso coupons. If you were to spend the same amount of time to train your main for that 20b it would take 40+ hours which is not sustained by the coupons. Boss mules are not a pieces of shet wrapped in chocolate. Its a vitamin that newbie will act like children and will not swallow even though it is good for them. Good attempt at a video but it is only 2 dimensional and lacks the 3rd element time.
Lmao I love your comment. It’s wrong, but funny so I give you credit for that. It’s absurd what people think is good advice for new players and the assumptions they make. How can you even begin to talk about new players and reference 20 bil in income from boss mules in the same sentence? Insanity The vast majority of players who pick up the game never even end up solo clearing lomien. Those players shouldn’t be thinking about boss mules either. Also a large point of the video was time based: opportunity cost. I don’t think you understood it at all or relate to the real trade offs of newer players that have limited time to play the game.
@@JamoosinYT This is hilarious you have no concept of time based opportunity cost. Simply a misinformed person that was fed misinformation. Ask yourself the core concepts of time based opportunity cost and look at your video. One of the key concepts is time relative to a day. Your video is evaluation is based on time relative to total time. That is why your video is only 2 dimensional because you are not even considering the mass majority of players that play sparingly. On a minor note, your calculations are a grossly evaluated. Basically cut everything by half in costs in reality or even more. Another core concept you miss is opportunity. What is an opportunity and how does it present itself. Farming 450m/hr is not an opportunity. Opportunities are events in the game that give advantage to time based opportunity costs. For example, events can exponentially help you grow your boss mule or your main, but prefer your boss mule because of the rewards are tailored toward the mules. The next concept that evolves from time based opportunity is value. Mini- concepts in here are value over time and total value. This is where your views on real tradeoffs is simply off because you didn't even look at the core concepts. Real value is using your time based opportunity to take advantage of events. You obviously do not know what you are talking about in terms of time based opportunity costs. Yikes, sad attempt to stir the pot a little bit and be against the flow. Everything now and in future patches point towards the game pushing people to make bossing mules. Your concept of people picking up the game and never clearing lomien is a 2020 view of the game. More than ever the game is pushing people towards late endgame with no effort. Obviously play how you want to play, but don't spread misinformation.
@@xrandomdonalds695 I understand it fine. All you’re saying is there are more things to consider (events). Try arguing in good faith when you lay yourself out with some terrible views. The whole video is 1:1 comparison for hours. Doesn’t matter when, but you would need to invest those in game hours to get a mule up and running. Same thing for real earnings is the alternative to bossing on your mule vs mobbing. Doesn’t matter new/old these are tangible things to consider. This video provided the framework of an analysis to make an informed decision if it makes sense for you. I’m assuming people are smart enough to adjust based on how or when they spend. The only people making this a 2 dimensional analysis are ones that clearly cannot connect with the point because they play the game consistently over long periods of time. This video is not saying boss mules are bad for everyone. It’s saying it’s a false bill of goods for many newer players who are told they must make them when again the vast majority of players never even reach the point they should. Imagine saying I don’t understand time for new players and making the assumptions you did. Again, incredible.
Bro you're assuming every minute you're online you're efficient which is not true for 99% of the players. I choose classes I enjoy for boss mules and I have 11 of them, enjoying every single one. So yeah for yhe diversity and change of pace here and there it's definitely worth it, just go for classes you like rather than the strongest classes.
lol. ur number are way off. No one would spend 20B on a lomein bossing mules. You can but it's really not needed. I spend 5B average. Ur 20 B is just stupid. as someone who have 8+ bossing mules. I'm telling ur, the reality of having bossing mule defenitily make mesos way faster. Stats on paper vs acutal playing result are totally different.
This dumpster fire of a comment fundamentally misunderstood or ignored the point of the video and argued in bad faith. The point doesn’t change at 5 bil
@@JamoosinYT Bro. I've been playing maple for a long time and so all my friends. there is no way ur argueing and misleading people that bossing mules are bad, they are not. case closed. it's a bossing mule meta. there is no way I'm letting u misleading new players.
I’ve reiterated my point in many comments. Not saying to never do it or boss mules are bad. They are undeniably efficient after you break even. I’m explaining that it takes a long time to turn a profit. Many players would benefit from just focusing on a main to experience more of the game faster than diverting attention to mules. Most players never see the benefit of mules because they don’t even pass lomien.
@@JamoosinYT Ok, that I can agree with you. If your main aren't even at Lomien. Then there is no point of making bossing mules. You should focus on your main until around lvl 250 where the progression are too slow. then I think u should make bossing mule in a bossing mule meta. I don't think the bossing mule meta is gonna change anytime soon. I would recommand people to make bossing mules as quick as they can.
Personally I think it's important to also take a look at the more casual players, as I consider myself one, where farming for an hour (or god forbid 2 hours in a row a while back with the wild totems so I didn't feel like they were 'wasted') gets annoying incredibly fast, bossing is just more enjoyable of an activity for every second I'm doing it compared to every second of grinding since I have to pay attention to not get one shot out of nowhere vs the mindless activity of pressing flash jump and aoe skill. Events help to mitigate the fact that I dont like grinding for hours on end every day by giving me a slight fraction of the gains I'd make by hardcore grinding, whether in symbols, nodes and epic pot scrolls from both events and legion shop, and using those to help start readying the next character I enjoy playing/bossing with to get ready for CRA bosses to earn just shy of 1B a week. In my experience almost every job with full epic potential gear 6% main stat and a few amount of node / symbol levels is capable of struggling and grinding out a win against CRA bosses barring pierre (as I need a job's burst to be powerful enough to nuke 30% of its hp in 10 seconds) with enough skill as well as links & legion, so its not like I'm actively spending time to fund the boss mules, they just sorta get funded over time passively as I do my dailies and weekly bosses & get the weekly epic pot scrolls. Then after I'm done with the more productive-per-second hour or hour & a half of bossing and doing daily quests on my main and/or whatever boss mule i happen to want to play, instead of grinding I can go play another game I also enjoy playing, and on the rare occasions I do feel like grinding instead of playing another game I can do it, the possibility is still there, and I don't get burnt on maple by forcing myself to do activities I don't enjoy doing. TLDR I think that its just more enjoyable for most players to earn meso by bossing for an hour than grinding a map for an hour. And enjoying the game happens to be super important in the long-term.
Now lets get into the math:
As someone 10 lonmien mule, 2slime mule(1 in transistion to Hlotus mule) and 2 hlotus black heart farmer mule
Imho I think they were effective and efficient pre boss change and if you were at least mid late game
Right now with hlmoien hellux train gone due to boss carry change
Lomien boss mules are much harder to make and is not as efficient and I think akkechi mules are the golden started for new players
220 lonmien mules pre boss changes were effective esp if you're mid to late game player that can trade hlmoien
I could realistically print out a sub 25min clear lomien mule pre 7-8b with almost no time farming by using exp events
Which made it less then a month or two to get investment back
But for a new player starting now
Yeah I would not recommend lmoien mules but akkechi mules
You can get away with just pure all 12 star, not even abso, 9 boss set, lv 210, Just need unqie/legendary WSE with 2 useful line with 300 nodes
That can be made within 3-4b and print a 1b~ per week under 30 min
Which makes it slightly over 1 month to bossing to see investment
That's my 2 cent on this as someone who loves boss mules and capped crystal every week for almost a year +
This makes sense, but the question posed is mainly for people thinking about making their first mule and explaining the trade off.
My experience has been people do it way to early which distracts from progression that could get them further into the game. This is before players really know if they are going to play for long enough for it to be worth it. That’s the gist of what I mean.
If players are confident they will play for several months boss mules are the most effective way to earn mesos!
@@JamoosinYT yeah I'd agree on that
I think boss mule are thing you make when you've made all the easy gains on main and are waiting on spare and event
Since you will be just saving money for months on end, might as well use it on mules and start getting "interest" from the money that would be just rotting in storage
But if a player want to make a boss mule earlier then usual
I think making few akkechi boss mules won't be bad
I really do think printing akkechi mules are the new meta and using 17 stat scrolls and event to push them into lomien territories in long term
My new favorite MS content creator. Keep going, greetings from Perú
For reg server 10000%. You're not doing it for the crystal but you're doing it for the drops that you can sell svc for such as cubes. Very rewarding and very profitable. The mesos you gain from the crystals is just a nice addition.
Also meso farming on reg server is VERY hard to do, since it takes several bil meso to even get 9 accessories with drop or meso on them
@@ryanhoang1123 Tradable drop gear and cubing event rings for drop is my go to method for mules. Most events I'm able to get 2-3 event drop rings setup
Only selling point in boss mules is that instead of making 400m in grinding I make 1b in 30 mins and never have to log onto maple ever again till rest of the week then cube/sf on my main
Haha very true. At the end of the day it’s about enjoying the game
Just started back in Ms an realized that it’s a full time job
Lmao that’s how many people seem to treat it
Thanks for ur info, very helpful, I think I will only lvl alt up for legion only due to lack of time
I think mid-game is the best time to make boss mules personally and is probably the most important thing to start doing ASAP. (Or taking a break from playing so much / playing other games)
The 5 month number is insane, I've barely been playing reboot half that long and I have two chars that can solo Lomien rn.
Great video man!
Glad you enjoyed!
hi when did you stop grinding ur main to create a boss mule?
I spent maybe 2-3bil on my Thunder Breaker to turn him into a Lomien mule, and all of that mesos was mesos earned by his own daily/weekly boss clears.
rng luck made my latest hyper burning boss mule in under 600m with lomien clear of 18min~
So i'm not creating boss mules i'm creating different mains.
thank you🎉
by taking advantage of hyperburns, the cost of a lomien mule can be very very greatly reduced.....which is why my lomien mules are hyper burns.
What NEW progression items are they adding?
200-250 I wouldnt worry about it to much, worry about leveling and bossing on your main even in parties for gear
250-275 Use events to make boss mules such as the 250 burning or khali event take advantage off free rewards like nodes and arcane symbols
275+ 100 percent yes, realisticly you want 12 characfers to boss on weekly for the 20b income as you push 275-285 because you will.need to start 22 starring all your gear
Yea buuut I don't know what to main
Males CRA mules is the way to go, some mules are way to cracked and easily make 750m (half of a lomien bossmule) and take way less than half the effort, probably, 1/4th the effort. The thing is, your account gets stronger and stronger everyday, legion, links, etc. Today you can solo CRA at level 200 with just your skill nodes if your class is cracked and you have 9 boss set effect and leg secondary and Emblem
Work through the analysis and it ends up being similar just on a smaller scale. Doesn’t really change much. I already assume you are doing legion/link.
Think about:
How long does it take to clear with so little? This influences your profit: income - opportunity cost
How much does useful legendary lines cost on 2 items? At least a bil, but probably more unless you are lucky.
What other items are you investing in? Starforce, CRA gear, the boss set
Did you spend on VJ symbol or run any dailies?
What other time are you putting in outside of the legion/link leveling on the character? There is at least some.
Yea they are efficient
Haha I bet some people would have preferred a 2 second video that said this
i lke the video and the compersion you have made,
although bossing on mule is very time consuming
1 hour might be correct for a new boss mule, with time you can get better at the mule mechanics and clear up to lomien in less then 20 min
the mules are going to become stronger and stronger just with boss flames and boss cubes,
you can start with a cra boss mule (prob 2b-5b investment) and progress with it up to lomien and even elucid/nslime
somtimes u can go struggle with them harder bosses and get better gear drops a(and more meso),
bossing is somthing u dont have to use coupons to do, unlike farming - it means i can take a break after each boss (every 2-3 min)
50% additional exp coupons also drops from bosses, with 10 boss mules i get around 20 of them ever week
starforcing a mule guild with sf events, and cubing with boss drops cubes (hard / solid) make the gear alot cheapr which drops the total sum from 15b~ to 7.5b~
220 might be idle level for lomien +20 fd%, but that level is still in the "easy levels" range,
boss mule is not 220 forever, getting to 235 is completly doable and will grant your mule more node slots
not to mention how hyper burns can get to 250 with out a sweat ( and l the free level up potion and exp events)
i did not crunch numbers but my estimation is it takes around 10 weeks to see a return from bossing mules
Although i think ypur analysis is just scratching the first phase of a boss mule, i have enjoyed the analysis and the thought process
keep the great work
I agree with all your points.
I think your analysis is probably reasonable for newer players, but way overestimate the cost for even mid-game players
1. Tiering to unique is almost free (if you have enough patience) because you can just use cubes that drop from bosses. These cubes are probably completely useless on your main anyways. Also SF cost is not as bad as you described as long as you do it on event. So meso expense might be more like 10B if you have enough patience
I only make boss mules that i will end up getting to 6th job so its worth it xD only make boss mules that i love playing
Why are people bragging 1.4b/week/mule?? Easy Lucid is only 30m in Scania. Is it a private server?
It's a predicament. I don't have time to grind for hours for mesos but i also want to focus on my main as well.
I only do up to cra and ignore pno
This went south so fast 😆😆😆
Haha it’s funny I made this video months ago and still remember the exact moment you’re talking about
forgot the fact that not everyoen wants to train in a map for dozens of hours a week so yes bossing mule is the correct choice and your 15bil estimate is massively over inflated
you dont need all 17 stars. you can inject 2-3bil and have a CRA bossing mule that earns almost 1bil a week and continue to do that for mutliple characters
Sounds like you agree wholeheartedly with me!
When to do boss mules?in my opinion:
6k legion + main can party do first 4 hard bosses(lucid,will,lomium)/solo it in normal + drop & miso gear.😂 in other words, main start to grow in a very slow slow stage
No legion no link skill no drop gear for nodes, what is the purpose of doing boss mules.😅
After solid foundation was builded, then only talks about boss mule.lastly if decided to do a boss mule, only do it during hyper burn event.
Hi
W channel
I probably would only consider making mules when my main is a piece of shit at bossing
ngl seems to me kinda weird that you assume a lomien boss mule needs full 17* gear, while taking it 1 hour to do its weeklies, tho i am not playing reboot, i assumed it takes even less funding to perform
besides that, you say that mules set back your main's proggression, but a lot of times you are better off waiting for a big event anyway, in the meantime you can have already made a profit on a mule ; also with all these hyperburns you basically get a free boss mule every 6 months
Honestly the only resource thats problematic for a new player are the nodestones, otherwise you can make a lomien boss mule with way less than 15b
Anyway, despite what im saying i appreciate your video, as it gives a good perspective to a new player.
2.8b in 1h with 2 mule and 1b from WAP on main everyday, so... why not?
Because of all the time and resources it takes away from someone’s main. It’s the trade off explored in the video…
What if your main is a boss mule 😏
🤯
Ye
I have playing reboot for around three years now, got 7.5k legion
All link skills
6 bossing mules and one main
I make +8b a week
Sometimes i do not have time to play daily, i do weekly bosses in the weekend in four hours..
So its good to have both
100% agree with you. Assumed people would already be going to 210 for link/legion hence why I looked at 210-220.
The point on fast leveling events for mules is a good one. Saves on a lot of the resources I discussed as trade offs. Can’t believe I forgot to include a note on that haha
Definitely time is the limiting factor in all things MapleStory for me.
Insanity
The vast majority of players who pick up the game never even end up solo clearing lomien.
😬
Balls of steel to bring up controversial topics in Maple.
I don’t think I implied or assumed that at all. Your second point is exactly what I say at the final part of the video…
So innacurate.
lol. ur number are way off.
