    It was the only way HBO would let it go through without copyright claiming it for some reason. the other episodes didn't have an issue. Have NO idea why this one was special.

    The Infected stages are:
    Runners = newly infected people
    Stalkers = halfway between runner and clicker, particularly blind from mushroom growth
    Clickers = Fully blind from facial spoor growth, infected over a year.
    Shamblers = halfway between clicker and bloater, only in the west
    Bloaters = Fully taken over by fungus growth, infected almost 20 years.

      @@PopJibberish someone else commented on another video that stabbing them in the brain stem will kill them which you can get to from the neck. In the game, headshots, stabs to to the head or neck kill them with that action. Shooting them in the body takes 5 or 6 shots depending on gun and what level you're playing on. Shooting a bloater (the big thing) in the body does almost nothing lol. You need multiple bombs or a flamethrower or a whole lot of shotgun shells.

  • @Taewills
    @Taewills ปีที่แล้ว +6

    As long as you sever the body from the brain then the clicker should be incapacitated. It seems like Ellie at least knew to get the brain stem so she can jab in the neck and pull it out. Remember, it takes a lot of strength to pull a blade from the scull and she’s a kid with questionable arm strength.

The person is still alive throughout, but the fungus is controlling them trapping the person in their own body. Where the infected are just humans who have a fungus that takes over the brain, but still human so you shot them with a bullet strong enough you will kill them even through the heart. This was an incredible episode. Ya'll got to remember that movies and television make you sit through 'establishing shots' to drive you crazy ... and give time for infected to come out o the ground LOL. Also ... @Pop Jibberish,
    50:36 We saw a child Clicker, and we know from Henry that the upper streets of Kansas has been clear of Infected for 15 years! That child's body is frozen in time, so that Bloater (that's the stage after Clicker) likely evolved from an obese person. We learned in the first episode during the cold open that Cordyceps draw nutrients from from its host--they don't eat people because they don't need to; they bite people to inseminate and multiply.
    We learned in the second episode that the Cordyceps are connected via their mycelial(?) connection to what extent we don't fully know, but we know that they can communicate with one another over long distances. These infected have been huddled together for 15 years underground, and we can see that they were somewhat coordinated in this attack. Joel explained to Ellie in the second episode that most Infected only live a couple of months, probably the time it takes the average infected to burn through the nutrients of a healthy lean host. Joel also told Ellie that there were infected that have been roaming around for 20 years, which I believe is how this series is going to explain Bloaters.
    How is the child Clicker able to live after all these years despite the fact that its host has far less mass than all the rest? We saw Nana Adler and the Stalker Infected that "kissed" Tess connected with her Cordyceps via the mouth. Can Cordyceps sustain others by sharing substances when one is running low? I think we already know the answer to this? We saw a group of dried out Cordyceps inside the museum in Boston. They all tried to help one another, and they did. They all died together too, but we can see a trail of Cordyceps snacking up and around the museum looking for substances until it eventually dried out and died.
    We may not get confirmation on this, but our guess are probably accurate. The hints given early on that fueled our theories of Cordyceps spreading in flour was confirmed. And while this show hasn't explicitly stated that amputation can stave off infection, we did see at least three amputees in the Boston QZ and they were shown after poster on the wall of the ER room where the child was wheeled in explaining full Cordyceps infection was shown--that poster wasn't just a fun little fact. And the FEDRA agent asking that child about the bite mark on the knee was an earnest question. Had the Cordyceps reader came back positive, FEDRA likely would have sedated the child and cut off his leg, so that hey could live to see another day. Why does FEDRA always check the neck when checking for infections? Probably because Cordyceps are speeding their way to the host's brain. If they've made it that far, it's already too late. Thanks to the poster in the Boston QZ ER we have a timetable for full Cordyceps infection:
    -bites to the neck, head and face: 5 to 15 minutes
    -bites to the torso, shoulder, arm and hand: 2 to 8 hours
    -bites to the leg and foot: 12 to 24 hours
    Arms, hands, legs and feet can be amputated, but bites anywhere else on the body would result in the swift execution of that person, at least under FEDRA, anyway. This telling of this chapter of the story was told much better here (having 10 years to improve on a story will do that), but it's also much worse. In the game, Sam kept his bite to himself, and everyone found out the next morning when Ellie went to check on him. The outcome is still the same, but in this telling Ellie knew! This change and tragedy is now the driving force pushing Ellie onward to the medical clinic so Firefly doctors can use her blood to hopefully make a vaccine/cure. But let's be honest, the best they could do is make a vaccine, right? Infected beyond the stage called Runner would be horribly disfigured if not dead without their parasitic relationship to the Cordyceps--Infected that become Clickers had their skull's cracked to give way to the fungal growth that is now their new head. Stalkers, the next stage up from runner, already suffer from fungal growth across their bodies, as the Cordyceps slowly start replacing their hosts flesh with themselves until they look more like the Bloater we saw in this episode. The host is a vehicle and the vehicle only works if the host is still alive, and that's why the Infected aren't called zombies but infected, as they are not reanimated dead people, but living people who are now prisoners in their own bodies. What's left of them is their mind and their brain has a barrier around it, cutting it off from control. Oh! Ellie was able to kill the clickers attacking Henry and Sam because she stopped the blood flowing to the brain by compromising the artery in the neck. Heavy chest trauma should also do the trick since the heart is what feeds the brain.
    Anyway, this was a very sad, but great story. This team doesn't miss. It's hard to believe that these episodes keep getting better. I cannot wait to see what tomorrow brings. Nice reaction!

    Hey guys I like your commentaries and think you have good insights to the character motivations & narratives, but I do feel like there's too much of the "why don't they just do this" or "why don't they do that". Like you're not in the situation, your a passive viewer in the safety of your own home - you can say they should be making the logical decisions but that is completely divorced from the emotional stakes of the actual situations.
    E.g. just heard y'all saying "why are they running straight, they should be running into the woods" - Henry literally just said that behind the last house on the street, there's an embankment that leads to the bridge out of the city. If they run to the side, they don't know what's there, they would most likely be cornered and out of sight for Joel to cover with the sniper.
    And then "why are they hiding (behind the car), they should run" - so the army full of people with assault rifles can just gun them down in full visual sight?
    Idk I think y'all have a lot of potential to be great commentators but sometimes the commentaries come off like you think you're smarter than the people in the situation, when you'd actually be making wrong decisions anyway. No offense meant, just wanted to provide some constructive feedback

      Yeah, totally agree and thought this the whole time. I typically love their reactions otherwise, but especially in this episode, that tendency felt strong, and as a viewer of the channel, it unfortunately made me want to tune out. Hopefully they take this all constructively. I know it may be their natural responses to things, but yeah, from a viewer (and not speaking for others), it's how I felt as well.

      @jdazz ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @austin_jose Facts, it's the only reason I haven't subscribed. I get that some people watch things with the mindset "why aren't they all making the most logical decisions all the time", but people don't even do that in real life. Everything else about their reactions/commentaries is really enjoyable though

      Totally understandable. Although, the reactions we give are genuine reactions. We don't tailor them. If we were watching this on our own time, this is what we'd be saying. We appreciate the comment and criticism, but this is how we react to the show. It's fine if you don't feel the same way in the same situation. That's all part of being different people.
