    Thats a beautiful truck, my father owned logging trucks on the east coast for 62 years, so i got to spend a lot of time with him ordering and picking up new trucks, in 1972 we both flew from NS to the IH plant in Oshawa and picked up his new Transtar 4300, good times.

    Mike, you make a good point about having the front and middle axel (in a tri-drive configuration) connected to one locker switch. You can add a lot lot of traction very quickly with a single switch. I own a 1998 Kenworth W900 with a tri-drive and each axle (front, middle and rear) all have separate locker switches. After trying both configurations I decided to go with a single locker switch per axle on my tri-drive. It's just 'felt' right.

    You should do a Tech Talk Tuesday on the differences and reasons between a set forward and set back steer axle configuration.

    Great video love the paint job kind of old school with a twist. It is to bad that the 367 is going away it was a good old simple truck.

    Beautiful truck Mike but I still think the driver side fuel tank should be even with the passenger side fuel tank and have the battery step box on the driver side.
    I know you said before that you do it to protect the tank but what’s protecting the passenger side tank where it’s mounted?
    Nice paint
    And I like me that you put the skinny tapered bumper on it . How many times in the winter you see these guys with the twisted Texas bumpers from catching a snow bank that’s frozen solid when they thought it was fresh powder

    Mike, aside from the fact that 367 SF axle is no longer available, just what is the specific difference between 389 short hood (388) and the 367 SF in this video ❓❓

    • @mikethetrucknut
      @mikethetrucknut  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 367 has a fiberglass hood. The 388 is aluminum and has a bigger Radiator

    Believe than the next best PACCAR choice the 389 short hood (388). I still vote the 567, the 5 series cab is fantastic, the 3 series folks are too close minded to see the future.

      @@billupstateny9151 i don't see why the 5 series cab is more superior than the 3 series cab that has been used for decades. Why couldn't they improve that cab instead of making a new cab that will looks out dated in 10 years

    • @billupstateny9151
      @billupstateny9151 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jansen7640 First 567 is the future, that will not change. Most important is the cab width. The narrow aisle is just cumbersome. Most 389 owners are the older generation & mobility between seat & sleeper should matter. The split windshield is horrible in snow/ice
      Fuel prices (aerodynamics) are going to jump again because the U.S. Has poor leadership & they believe in a mythical elec semi.
      The 389 life expectancy is very uncertain beyond 2024, 2025. So get behind the replacement or buy used & pour in some 💲💸💲👀😎

    • @billupstateny9151
      @billupstateny9151 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jansen7640 fleet owners have already surrendered for the T680 and Pete Clone. So it is only owner/ops + few speciality businesses that keep the 389 afloat. With high demand this year, this model likely finds a soft landing in 2023 then PACCAR will make some long/short term decisions.😎👀
