@@dangzitsproThey sing in English, that’s good enough, they don’t have to add more to their insane schedule to accommodate the west. American artists who expand into other parts usually do everything in English, why shouldn’t twice do the same?

I'm sorry, but I speak Korean and English and that translator is terrible. She doesn't do a great job of conveying what they're saying.

I saw them in that show, too! TWICE. The second time was a repeat. Also when they were in "The Tonight Show" with Jimmy Fallon!
Plus I did like Dahyuns' English response as well! She did the same thing on the "Kelly Clarkson show" on the food question as well!
kudos to access hollywood for doing the interview with a translator, i love that the girls can express themselves more fully instead of being pressured to talk in english. can't wait for Strategy!!!

They don't have a choice. None of them are conversational in English. What else are they going to do?

The company can make non korean members speak korean, why can't they do the same with English? I mean if you want money outside of Korea at least speak basic English! They've been in this industry for so long yet don't show any progress in English. This fact shows that they don't care enough about their fans and don't even bothered to try to communicate with them in English.
@@uuuu-ov6xi that is not at all the case. back in 2015, Kpop was not nearly as popular internationally as it is now. groups rarely promote in America unless it’s for a tour, or they are super popular. (Twice for example) and lastly, they are a Kpop group, not a international group. so if they are going to be promoting in Korea as a Korean group, they need to know Korean. promoting (or making money) in America is not a guarantee.
TWICE is the best STRATEGY themselves. The most beautiful, talented, hard working and humble girl group ever .

oh please take that translator lady with you everywhere you go, she did amazing! Guys i have been here since 2019 and here till forever with my Twice babies but i still get amazed everytime I see them they keep getting prettier day by day, I can never get over it. I love everything about Twice, each member is special, unique and precious to my heart. I have never felt like this before, I know Twice are the nation girl group and have a huge fandom and a popularity to reckon with but i just feel like it's not enough. The whole world should stan them and know of them, they will heal every broken heart that exist. I love them!

@@dangzitspro oh hell nah, they are not obliged to do that. I searched for their music and loved them in korean, i watched every show they did in korean with english subs provided and i'm fine with it. it is more entertaining that way, they are comfortable and they share their culture with the world that watch them. If as you said they adjust to the west's likings what's new for us then, every other western celebrity can do that. Also, not to take from the girls's effort to learn English, they do it in their free time and most of the members can understand english and they can get by speaking it too. They are just professional enough on live shows and interviews to get a translator to facilate the process and avoid misunderstandings that can lead to unpretty headlines given their popularity. Finally these girls manage to sing in korean, Japanese, and English fluently and perfectly which many western artists could never and nobody asks them to learn and speak korean when they promote in korea, so why would Twice do that. They can communicate with us just fine! didn't you understand the interview? I guess you did, so the goal is achieved 🤗

@ The main problem stopping Twice from achieving the level of INTERNATIONAL success Blackpink and BTS have is their inability to be fluent or even be good at English. To reach a massive global audience such as what BTS and Blackpink have, they must at least be able to communicate in English in any interview or to any artistes. Because English is THE international language.
Language plays a huge part in breaking into any market in the world. Imagine wanting to break into kpop but not speaking Korean. Speaking a language that is familiar will make the audience feel closer to them. Name me another internationally famous and successful artistes/group that doesn’t know how to speak English.
@@dangzitspro I get what you mean, but us fans love them either way. From the start twice weren't planning to expand to the western market. Twice had a humble beginning, the company was struggling, they worked so hard to get where they are now. Them having 3 Japanese members made them break into the Japanese market easily after getting success in Korea of course. So they're growing slowly but surely. It was only after they become such a phenomena that they started giving their western fans English songs as an appreciation for their love and support. And jyp started the plan to expand in the western market. Every fan know this progress and is proud of them.
As for the other groups you mentioned, I don't know their story and journey that well but I'll share my opinion and it's only my opinion no offense to them I love some of their songs I'm just a casual listener. For BTS, they're a boy group that alone plays a big role for their fame, there are a lot of boy groups crazy fangirls. BTS has a strong presence because of the rap line and concepts. And they are not fluent in English either. Namjoon was the one to translate for his members, and the spoke person of the group. Now for Blackpink, yg is very known for the edgy strong concept that itself appeals to the western market. They don't focus on producing many songs and albums they only focus on creating hit songs following a viral pattern. It happens that they have members who are fluent in English since they were mixed Korean and Australian or korean New Zealand and so on Lisa is Thai and she used English to communicate in Korea before she learned Korean. Jisoo is still not fluent. Twice though with their bright and cute concepts in the beginning never appealed to the western market. And even when they released their first English song the feels they didn't change their colors to fit the cool and edgy aesthetic. If you watch reaction videos to kpop you will see how western fans when they react to bts and blackpink they always praise their strong concepts but when it comes to Twice they'll say, they are talented and all but it's a cute concept that I'm not into, some channels refuse to react to twice, they don't even give them a chance because they're known to have a cute and bubbly genre. While, fun fact, Twice has covered most genres and they're so diverse. They have songs for everyone ❤️
That translator has an EPIC job she's pretty much the translator for all the kpop groups when they hit the SoCal/LA area. I've heard her at many concerts but never seen her actual face! Cool!

Translators should absolutely be normalized rather than artists around the world feeling pressured to speak English and learn it in their already overwhelming schedule. Thank you for your warm welcome and great interview. I’m relieved jyp knows to ensure they have respectful interviewers 🫶🏻
Twice was also planned to be a group mostly focused on the Korean and Japanese markets. They have become popular globally, including in the US but they never planned to have to do lots of interviews and promotions in English. So they are doing what they can, it's better to have a translator that means they can express themselves fully in Korean (the translator did really well here definitely also).
It's odd because most JYP groups have at least one English speaker.

Normalized? Lmao? They are "normal". They have had translators in every English interview I've seen, although they might be offscreen or edited out. They also cost money. But none of that matters, because translators serve a purpose that does not replace the need to learn English. A need that TWICE doesn't seem to have, considering that none of them can actually speak English well enough to hold a conversation, which is why there is a translator in the first place.

@@dangzitsproas long as people loves their music, that’s the most important thing, and that’s why Twice being love by million people. I don’t think people really bother with them not fluent in English, and it also can be provide by translator. You can see why people around the world loves them even they don’t speak English fluently, it’s because the quality of their music is addictive and always on top 10 chart on BB year after year, not to mention this chart base in US where people mainly speak English.
Finally, we support and love TWICE who will come back tomorrow! Fighting!
