That's exactly why we do this! If you have any questions or frustrations, check out the ScienceProfOnline website (I am not allowed to put the URL in this message, but it easily comes up in a search). On the site, you can search "microscope" and you will find several brief, to-the-point articles with tips on how to use a scope and overcome common challenges. Have fun with your new scope!

Thank you for the informative video! :)
I'm buying a microscope and aim to ultimately make a lot of videos of different things at different magnifications. What would you recommend would be good/interesting/surprising things to magnify?

Excellent. Can you tell me what the proper height of the condenser is? Should it be all the way up when using the oil immersion lens (1.25 NA)?

Place an object, pen, pencil just above the light. Through the eye piece(s) adjust height of condenser until object image is sharp.

You need to progressively focus (parfocal), starting with the low power objective (yellow band). You can switch directly from low power (100xTM) to oil immersion objective (1000xTM), and should then need just a bit of fine focusing to get your specimen crisply in focus.

im trying to find a E on the piece and I cant find it on high power can you help?

Move back to a lower objective, find your "e", and then try again. Remember, at high power, you will not be able to see the entire "e", but may see just a portion of it, as your field of view gets smaller as you increase magnification.
