The problem is with upper management. A few people are making decisions for hundreds of coders and programmers. The algorithm is biased. Period.
There could be two separate channels who don't know anything about each other. They can make a very similar content. Interesting thumbnails, great titles, great content, etc. One will succeed, and one will struggle to succeed or even fail.
The horrible part about this is the one that fails can be doing better marketing.
For some reason, leadership within the company is favoring certain channels over others and is suppressing (of course they won't use that term because of "corporate culture") other channels.
Why is it that a little kid playing with Legos and then throwing one against the wall will get 600,000 views but an entertaining and engaging video that "follows all of the TH-cam marketing advice" gains something like 500 views?
This goes Way beyond algorithm glitches.
This is a people problem. A management problem.. a leadership problem...
I say we flood YT's Twitter feed with all of our concerns about this.
I've been a member of TH-cam as a viewer since 2006 on one channel and since 2013 on another. And I've been making content seriously for over 3 years.
We have a problem here TH-cam.

I’m glad you posted this, not sure if it was my Asperger’s but I fkn HATE clickbait titles on videos that are supposed to be educational.
I always thought of the educational part of TH-cam should be a type of library, like the title should directly define what the video is about. I get it tho, copywriting to get the click, but like you said… the real learners, the real action takers, don’t need that, they need practical clarity.
Thanks for sharing bro, this year 25’ is gonna be my come up!
    P.S. I’m your customer avatar.

Appreciate it - and glad my avatar is watching!! But yes, there is a 'game' with TH-cam where you have to have some sensationalised titles. But often that just attracts the wrong audience. Its all about balance and putting together a content strategy that allows you to reach the right people without being 'clickbait'

I think there are a few more types of videos on TH-cam. Or certain other types of videos don’t fall neatly under the two types of videos.
Review videos could be classified as educational, but depending on what you’re reviewing it could also be entertainment. Channels like Philip Defranco’s present news information and current affairs, with occasional pop culture stories. It could be classified as educational or informative, in regard to the news, but also entertainment because of how they present the news and because they includes pop culture topics.
There might actually be three types of videos: entertainment, education and a mix of both.

This video isn’t using its own advice; unless this isn’t your business channel, so it doesn’t matter.
The title and thumbnail are likely to hook viewers that are business owners and non business owners a like. The actual video is advice for business people who are trying to garner customers for their business through their TH-cam channel, but the title isn’t targeting business people specifically. The video might not reach the most business owning viewers -the targeted audience-due to the wrong viewers watching the video and leaving early when they realize it doesn’t apply to them. The algorithm then slows the momentum of the video and doesn’t give it a chance to get in front of the right people.

Glad it was useful! With magic channels, you do need slightly more 'viral' videos in order to make sales :)

So if I create a monetized channel based on photography (how to use the gear correctly, how to run the business...) - I should not expect to get any money from it regardless of how many subs or views I get?

    • @oscarowenbusiness
      @oscarowenbusiness  หลายเดือนก่อน

Hey Will, so of course you will be able to monetise it and get money from views and subs. But they need to be the right kind of views and subscribers. If they are targeted viewers and you make great content, you don't need millions of views to be successful. However, if you have a very generic audience it will be a lot harder to monetise. My recommendation for you is to really figure out who your ideal viewer is. What will you sell to them? What problems do you solve for them? Then create content around that. You are not aiming for 'views' you are aiming for 'targeted views'; with people who want to work with you and buy from you. Does that make sense? The amazing thing with this approach is you only need 1000 or so views to turn youtube into your fulltime income (if you have a great offer on the backend). If you want to make money via ads and sponsorships - that is also an option and many photography channels do that. However it will just take a lot longer and you'll need 10k+ views per video to make it into a real business.

@@oscarowenbusiness With my real estate photography company ( photography, videography, floorplans, flying drones, 3D modeling of homes, client relations, handling sales taxes...) Should I have a different channel for each of those subjects or have one channel with multiple playlists (one for each subject)?
