1985 - Odessa Permian vs. Houston Yates (State Championship)

Odessa Permian came into the game undefeated, and faced the toughest opponent they have ever faced in the State Championship 5A, highest class at the time. To this day, most football experts believe the 1985 Houston Yates is the best team ever in High School Football.
Permian was down only 9-0 at half with this team full of future NFL athletes, such as Chicago Bears Johnny Bailey, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers / Green Bay Packers Santana Dotson.
Many of the Panthers say to this day they felt they were playing a D1 NCAA College Football Team.
