    One button I missed to overview was the + Add button on the Settings page.
    This will allow you to easily add:

    It amazes me that google still hasn’t added the ability to add users with lesser access and automatic camera display on chromecasts when the doorbell is pressed.

    Only invite your spouse. No one else needs access to your home. If they want to use something, they can ask Google through one of the mic enabled devices. Many times friends or family can be with another sketchy person that uses their phone, and God only knows what they do on there, including potentially accessing your home.

    Great video. Thx. But how did you manage to live stream the Tapo cameras on your phone ?.. I can only cast to other cast devices.

    • @TechWithBrett
      @TechWithBrett  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You need to use the Tapo app for that.

    Thanks for the great video. It appears that Google has made some great improvements and is now probably better than Alexa, especially with respect to linking to other vendor products. Alexa skills tended to be very hit and miss in this area. Another thing the video caused me to think about, is why all fuss about smart home hubs which require very skilled people to set them up. Google Home seems to be all I need to build a smart home. What is your take on the issue of hubs?

    • @TechWithBrett
      @TechWithBrett  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think there is definitely a place for hubs if done correctly and with Matter we may see less hubs over time but I don't think they will ever go away. I use a Lutron, Hue, & SmartThings hub and they all add additional features/reliability into my smart home that is not possible without them. It will be interesting how they adjust over time.

      Right now TP Link cameras are only supported on Nest Displays and not in the Home app. Not sure when/if they will work.

    Hi Brad, I’ve been having some issues with connecting my Google Home and other smart devices to my Home Network. First off, the Google Home Assistance often just says “can’t connect to the network and to check the connection tab in my Google App”, but I can’t locate a connection tab in the app.
    The situation that has caused this problem, was having to change/upgrade my Wi-Fi Router. In the past, rather than having to change every Device’s Wi-Fi setup, I would just rename the SSID and Password of the new Router, to be the same as the earlier Router. In the past, this has always worked without any issues, but this time, some devices connect to the new Router, while others stay offline. Is there any way of checking what SSID the devise should be working off, as well as any way of doing a batch update?
    Any advice you could give on this issue would be appreciated. 😊

    Hello, Thank you very much for your effort to explain google home application sir. I wonder something about the app. I use Google home for my two smart light but i dont know how can i add shortcut buttons to my phone's home screen? Do you have any idea about that? I just control them with G asistant via voice for a now. but sometimes i dont want to use voice command I want to control them from some shortcut buttons on the my phone home screen. Actually I have a solution about that but i dont want to use it too, The solution is Action blocks but i dont want to install my phone another app for that until i have to.

    • @TechWithBrett
      @TechWithBrett  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      So far Action Blocks is the only way to do that. My tutorial is here: th-cam.com/video/8S5bUvdR0Fo/w-d-xo.html

    I have a pair of Cync smart light bulbs I want to add to Google Home so I can turn them on and off with my voice, but when I try to add them under "Works with Google Home" after linking my accounts together, it says, "No compatible devices were found in your Cync (C by GE) account". I already have them set up with my Cync account and can control them using the Cync app, so I don't know what the problem is. What should I do?

  • @diverdean59

    Can I set up multiple homes at different locations? If so how do I do this? For instance, how did you specifically set up home and office? Are they both tied to the same Google account?

    • @TechWithBrett
      @TechWithBrett  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes you can do this. Just tap the Settings at the bottom of the app and on the next page select +Add and at the bottom of the list you have an option to add a new home.

    • @diverdean59
      @diverdean59 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TechWithBrett Thanks another question. It looks like according to your video that if someone else invites you to their home, I could control those devices. I'm not sure I would be doing that but I'm thinking things like the broadcast feature could be helpful for using as an old school intercom system. Does that sound feasible?

    • @TechWithBrett
      @TechWithBrett  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Broadcast is great to use as an intercom. It can go to the full home or a specific room. I'm not sure if it works between different homes.

  • @lance3198

    Couple things 1. I think I'm a part of the public preview but when I go to settings I do not see rooms and groups. I was so excited for a few seconds. Any thoughts? Is this a super public preview you have or I don't have it because my part of a public preview?
    2. As you know with SmartThings you get duplicate devices. You move those over to another home. When you delete a home, do those duplicate devices just disappear which would be great?

    • @lance3198
      @lance3198 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      On my first point I figured it out

    • @TechWithBrett
      @TechWithBrett  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm glad you figured out #1. The only feature that I know of that is currently public preview is the script editor and AI Automation Generator.
      For 2. If you delete the 2nd home the devices will be moved back into the Linked to You section and then you can move them into your home.

    hey is it possible i can just add a user to my Nest Hub?the old Home App allowed me to do it and now i cant figure out how to do it without inviting that person to my entire home. before you was able to give access to specific devices I chose to share

    • @TechWithBrett
      @TechWithBrett  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So if they go into the Google Home app, they might be able to see the device when on your wifi and link it to their account but I don't remember if that is still working.

    The thing I don’t like about the Google Home app on the iPad is that the lights are grouped together in one pill-shaped icon per room. So if you tap on the pill-shaped icon thinking you will open it to show all the lights you will accidentally turn off all the lights in that room instead. You have to train yourself to long press on the pill-shaped icon to open it to show all the lights in order to avoid this accident every single time.

      @TechWithBrett one of the devices is an LG TV. Earlier on, it seems like adding the device didn't totally work. It seemed like LG didn't work very well with Google home. So i tried deleting the service. But deleting the service didn't remove the device.
      Since the initial attempt I was able to add my LG TV but the failed attempt won't delete. So it's like I have two LG TV in the app when I really only have one. I've tried deleting and re-adding the service several times but the failed attempt never deletes the bad attempt.
