It’s interesting to read that as I had a similar experience. One of my cats would never warm to a female friend of mine. Whenever she visited, he’d run and hide. She tried to win him over with treats, but he was having none of it. She was a narcissist and was using me for money. I think he could tell the persona she was portraying did not match with her pheromones and body language, but I didn’t pick up on it.
We lived in an isolated cabin and I had one house cat so installed a cat flap. Later, we adopted a true feral cat. It took many months to coax him inside, and we always made sure the cat flap was available for him to exit. Every night he would lay on the floor, looking outside through the clear plastic cat flap. Turns out he was guarding the house. Occasionally a raccoon would come on the step and the feral would go crashing outside and chase it away. Once he took on 3 raccoons at once...not smart at all and did get a scratched cornea, but he was feral and he was guarding his turf.
Yes, cats know. My cat has always acted in my interest with my ex, neighbors, salesmen, etc. A well kept cat is your best defender and advocate. At my older age I have seen many cats perform as a protector and advisor.
One of my cats, who adopted me, was getting a pat from me, out front of my house; suddenly he growled really low. I looked around for a dog or another cat; instead it was my former neighbours walking past on the footpath, who used to regularly torture animals (and later were involved in trapping cats and killing them - the husband proudly boasted). This cat used to practically live at my house; I found his owner, she took him back, and next day he was back again, so rather than have him at risk from the cat killers, we agreed I'd take him and he lives safely inside with me. Beautiful nature, loving animal, but he knows which humans to trust or not. Another visiting feral cat also growled at another neighbour. I trust cats' judgement even over a dog's.

I've had cats every day of my 60 years, but, when I have been really sad, the kitties have cuddled unusually and differently - and made me feel better as only a cat can.
I can say a definite yes to cats defending their owners as I have witnessed it first hand and the damage she did to my violent ex was really serious his legs were ripped up as she got the bathroom door open and he was on the loo and she took that opportunity to unleash a savage attack on him for all what he had done to me and I loved her for it because she was clearly showing love for me by giving him a taste of his own medicine I miss her his family took her back from me and I regret not taking her with me when I got out of that dreadful relationship but I have two boys now and when things between me and him are bad they always come straight to me and give him the cold shoulder in all fairness I have always been a cat magnet they are very clever animals cat and we should give them the respect they deserve based on the insurance they show if I'm having a meltdown my oldest will not just come and sit or lay on my lap he will hug me or act funny to make me laugh that's how intelligent my boys are ❤😻❤😻

I had a breast cyst. One night my tabby clinbed on me, positioned his muzzle right over the cyst and breathed onto it. I could feel heat from his breath. Next day it was gone and hasn't come back. That was 20 years ago. I've had the best cats!

Yep they can. My beloved cat who lived 23 healthy years, PawPaw disliked a boyfriend I had for a short time. When he came over he went into a closet and sat facing the back corner. Turned out guy was a dud, unfaithful, angry and the day I took him to airport sending him back, to never be seen again, PawPaw came into my bedroom with something in his mouth. We also have a cat who avoids my SIL, although none of our other cats have ever done this around my SIL. Even though she has always been gentle with animals, she is a dental hygienist, and I swear April *somehow* knows that she works with sharp instruments. She runs upstairs whenever my SIL visits. Our other cat isn't bothered by her at all, and sticks around.

I believe Islam considers dogs to be "unpure" or "unclean" animals, which requires a person to go through a ritual cleansing after contact with a dog. Cats are considered to be ritually clean, so people do not have to perform a cleansing ritual after contact with them.

Animals in general are far more switched on than most people give them credit for. Cats are exceptionally clever. They definitely protect their owners and will get in between their owner and a perceived threat. They are loyal, attentive and loving creatures. They picked us, we didn't pick them. They are amazing. For some reason, animals like me. I'm calm, kind and attentive. They pick up on it. Animals always come and hang out with me, even if I've never met them before; cats, dogs, horses, you name it. I don't really know why but they just do. They calm down and chill, it's bizarre but I'm not complaining 😊

My cat for sure picks up on certain moods, she's so familiar with how I sound and express when angry that it can actually be used as a deterrent; scowling and taking in a sharp breath when she jumps on the desk or bites too hard when playing. Downside is for me anger and pain are close to the same response so she was very upset and terrified when I broke my toe a few months ago. She also seems to pick up and share when I dislike someone or something. When I was crashing with a friend for a little bit, she loved his cat, I loved his cat. She HATED his dog, I did not like the dog. Right now I'm pet sitting for a friend for a while and she does not like his cat, I don't like his cat, and she's usually very good with other cats
I was ill recently . I did notice my 2 cats paying me more attention , constantly hanging close nearby, even about a day before the onset of what would become a 3-day illness.
Years ago when I was growing up and my family was livening in Springfield , Mo. my Aunt Kathy ( my dad’s sister) came to our House for a visit. Well, She sat down in a chair and we started talking. And Our Aunt was talking . ( she had a high pitched voice) it may or maybe didn’t affect our Cat George but he went up to her wiggled his tail and peed all over her leg. We were all shocked at his behavior but then it was halariously funny. George was definely giving his opinion of our visitor. It wasn’t a good one. lol!

Years ago when I was growing up and my family was livening in Springfield , Mo. my Aunt Kathy ( my dad’s sister) came to our House for a visit. Well, She sat down in a chair and we started talking. And Our Aunt was talking . ( she had a high pitched voice) it may or maybe didn’t affect our Cat George but he went up to her wiggled his tail and peed all over her leg. We were all shocked at his behavior but then it was halariously funny. George was definely giving his opinion of our visitor. It wasn’t a good one. lol!
My first cat loved my g friends 7 yr old daughter and while Cassidy sat in a chair asleep...crawled up an put both front legs around her neck and cuddled. Wish Zi had a camera ready....
