Friday the 13th CAMP CRYSTAL LAKE TOUR & TOWN FILMING LOCATIONS | Then & Now 40 years later

- In this video you will see the filming locations used for 1980 classic horror movie. All the behind-the-scenes locations that shot in Hope and Blairstown, New Jersey. Where we first see Annie walking through the small town to where she finds herself a ride from truck driver Ennis to the cemetery. You will also the spots where we meet Crazy Ralph, and where Annie is picked up by Mrs Voorhees.
I finally had the opportunity to take the tour of Camp No-be-bo-sco, aka Camp Crystal Lake, aka Camp Blood.. It was an awesome experience. The Main Cabin where Betsy Palmer's legendary reveal scene happens to where a young Jason pops out of the lake to grab Alice out of the canoe.

My friend and I worked as PA’s on two of Sean Cunningham’s earlier movies which were family films similar to “Bad News Bears” - we became part of the crew and were even at wrap parties at Seans house in Westport, CT. They asked us to go with them to New Jersey where Sean was going to shoot a horror film but due to high school we could not. We followed it in the trades and even made “Friday the 13th” T-shirts long before the movie came out.

This goes to show you can make a great horror film on a small budget. 2 real towns and a Boy Scout camp, no fake sets or buildings. If you got a great story, a creppy but simple soundtrack, and a creative eye, you don't need a ton of money to create a iconic movie like Friday the 13th.
How much would it be worth if it were filmed today
I lived in Blairstown and attended Blair Academy while they filmed this movie. The dog at the gas pumps was my English teacher's dog and we thought that was the funniest thing ever at the time. Wow the town hasn't changed after all these years.

I grew up in Blairstown in the 70's, had a paper route in Hardwick and Camp NoBeBosCo was one of the hundreds of my deliveries, banked at that bank at 4:00, lived in that blue house with the tower shown in the distance in your shot of what used to be the library at 4:00, had a girlfriend who lived in the right-most house at 5:08, worked at an amusement park close to Hope, ate in the Blairstown Diner, etc. You nailed so many locations in that movie! Thanks for the trip down memory lane! So many stories; so little space to write about them!

@@NickP I actually hate horror movies, but I've watched Friday the 13th tons of times because it's thrilling to see the places I knew so well as a kid in what is now such a classic famous movie! In a way, my familiarity with the town diminishes the fear that I am supposed to feel when I watch it, but I don't care. I love watching it anyway.

They are smart to turn this into a tourist attraction! I was there in Sept of 1999 all by myself, long before the days of tours. That was a helluva hike back there from the main road.

Awesome job on this! These locations are on my list to see one day. I like the way that little town looks. I did a video for the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre locations down in Texas which were really cool to find. I’ll have to keep these locations on my radar. Nice job!

Well, this was deffinetly a much friendlier reception than what you experienced in Amittyville. I remember when I filmed the church that was used during the famous "wedding scene" in 1967's The Graduate. This nice lady invited me inside and let me film. She even took a photo of me up on the balcony where Dustin Hoffman was yelling "Elaine!" I like it when people are welcoming of someone taking photos and showing an interest in a particular location. Kind of like how the people were receptive of you filming inside of the cafe. This was a great filming location video. I love your narration and attention to detail. I feel that is really important with these types of videos. Nick P your videos are absolutely fascinating. That is because YOU are a fascinating man. Great job ! I grew up in Warren County and they actually left the body on the door of the generator room after filming with a note attached that said, "Thanks everyone for use of the campground. Here's for all you Friday the 13th fans". I was to young to go but my uncles took pictures.

I thought this original campsite was torn down years ago and rebuilt on the other side of the lake...but its cool that its still there.
I believe that is what happened with the camp from Part 2.

Crazy yet cool how they preserved it after all of these years! The only think is, the lake actually looked cleaner back in the day as opposed to now.

Really amazing how much this was preserved and a lot didn’t change after so many years. Only thing look at the lake it was so clear, now look how dirty it is. But that’s what happened to most of our lakes, rivers. Terrible to see.

Great video from one of my favourite horror franchise. You do Great videos by The way of many Great Classics. I have a wish list for you locations. Fugitive with Harrison Ford and the sequel US Marshals. Some of Steven seagal movies Nico, Hard to kill, Out for justice and Marked for death. Last boy scout with Willis. And the Scream movies and nightmare on Elm Street movies. And some Clint Eastwood movies and Charles Bronson, Jean claude van damme. movies would be Great

I’m planning Out For Justice, have all the locations locked down already. I just need to film and edit them. I found most of the Lion Heart locations. I will def do that as well in the future. * Hey. That cemetery looks like the cemetery that's in Crystal Lake village in Connecticut. Crystal Lake village is right along the edge of Crystal Lake. They had to change the name of the nearby campsite from "Camp Crystal Lake" to "The Quarry Campground", and I noticed that in some of the films, the police squad cars seem to have Connecticut license plates on them. It almost sounds like the Crystal Lake in Connecticut, is the *"real"* Camp Crystal Lake, and it's in Tolland County, which means it's not too far away from Manhattan, for that film called "Jason Takes Manhattan".
* I mean, if it *"were"* a true story. For instance, if I understand that correctly, when they filmed that movie called "In the Light of the Moon" that was about Ed Gein, I really doubt that they actually filmed that movie in Plainfield, WI, and I seriously doubt that they would've filmed the scenes at the actual locations there in Plainfield. So what I'm getting at, is if you wanna have some with people around a campfire some night, you can strike up the subject of the Friday the 13th movies, and eventually tell them "That location in New Jersey may have been where they filmed the scenes in the movies, but the *"real"* Camp Crystal Lake is located in the village of "Crystal Lake", because it sits right along Crystal Lake.
* Then tell them about the police officers in the films having Connecticut license plates, and tell them to check it out in the various movies themselves if they want to lol. Maybe that'll freak them out, maybe it won't. I'll have to visit that village called Crystal Lake one of these days.

A bucket list within a bucket list. Hiking the that sloped peak (mt. Kittatinny?) mountain on the other side of the lake. And having chili dogs at the blairstown diner
Haha Awesome... I believe that mountain is a little farther north by Port Jervis.. I'm not sure the name of the one closer to the lake..and Yeah, had to visit the diner.. The food was so/so but the coffee was good.

Especially because of where it is and how many of the cabins are still in tact. The fact that’s an actual camp, where they offer tours. The towns you visit before the tour.., so cool.
