So, for those of you wondering why Megalovania is the theme used here, let's put things into perspective. Every other time Megalovania is the boss music, it's a sign that either the hero (Varik in the Halloween Hack, Terezi in Homestuck) or the player themselves (the Genocide Route in Undertale) is about to do something morally dubious (killing an frenzied old man / killing one of your closest friends) if not utterly vile and reprehensible (killing EVERYTHING) when they could've picked a considerably less drastic path. CogDis's Paradox path is the only Mother-related game that lets you beat down the main villain with brute force, which is antithetical to the Mother franchise as a whole, where the main villains are inevitably only able to be beaten by non-violent means. Not to mention that since killing Giygas in such a way causes a host of problems for the entire Mother timeline, it's no wonder why whatever's left of the Mother 1 cast is opposing you and why this ending nets you a Time Crash.
@@MegaPokeman1 Undyne was the hero (heroine, rather), since her goal was to stop Chara to save everyone. Sans, on the other hand, seems less concerned with preventing deaths (though of course they still affect him, especially Papyrus' death) and more worried about stopping the player so that the world won't be destroyed/the timelines won't be irrevocably fucked.
@@somedudethatripsplanetinha4221 it could be argued that what terezi did for her version of megalovania wasn't arguably bad but rather it was a very drastic way to go. Megalovania isn't a song about doing wrong, it's a song about taking the most extreme path to achieve your goals.
Let's think about this for a moment. There's gonna be obvious spoilers in this comment, so if you haven't played the game yet, I'd recommend at least watching a playthrough first. Giegue is severely emotionally wrecked from his upbringing. He may, or may not, have had an Eldritch Horror within him since birth. (CogDis doesn't make it clear if Giygas is a manifestation of his insanity or a separate entity in his since birth given what we've seen of the flashback scenes.) He has quite literally manifested a second persona in order to escape his feelings of regret and turmoil over his adopted parents and the planet Earth. In the final battle, there are several actions the player can do for different endings. The best of these involve getting Giegue to reconcile things with his positive emotions and ultimately working together in order to move on from his troubled upbringing. Then there's this ending. To achieve it, you have to go out of your way to teach Niiue (the personification of Giegue's positive emotions) an ability using an item you have limited access to which allows him to sing the eighty melodies during the battle against Giygas; a song the represents Maria's love for him but is also incredibly traumatic to him because of what surrounded it. This causes the already in the throws of insanity Giegue to have an even worse breakdown, as he's unable to properly process and digest the amount of feelings he's experiencing right now. Afterwards, Giegue forcefully retreats further into his mind. Niiue, along with the others, continue to follow and press him. In a complete nervous breakdown from them continuing to press him, Giegue forcefully manifests the four heroes from Beginnings/Mother 1 to try and defend himself; beings that are partially responsible for his aggravated state in this game proper. This doesn't stop Niiue or the protagonist from keeping forward, forcefully beating back these memories until all that's left is what is truly Giegue deep down; a scared, traumatized child who never learned to properly process his emotions. In the end, Niiue and the protagonist even forcefully beat *that* down as far as it can go, until all that's left is the enbodiment of his positive emotions. However, being positive is *not* the same thing as being emotionally healthy. And because of that, once the initial rush dies down... Everything begins to fall apart. When you really think about it, the paradox ending is a metaphor for the dangers of pushing down your emotions and putting on a fake happy mask to try and deny your own emotional turmoil. In the end, you'll only be making things worse than learning to process these feelings in the long run. Honestly, not half bad for an RPG Maker fangame. Hats off to the devs on this.
The only thing I can say of this is that Gygas is the one beating Gigue, not the party, thats because you have zero control of it and Gygas were forming already
I love how Giygas is attacking the Mother protagonists and you at the same time. He's got two enemy groups to deal with, and he's _enjoying it._ The Mother gang, however, see you more as a threat than _Giygas._ That's why they focus your attacks on you.
Tadeo Gomez Spoilers for smash ultimate (if it actually matters. game’s been out for a while) Reminds me of how in the final boss fight for World of Light in Smash Ultimate you fight Galeem and Dharkon at the same time, but they’re attacks hurt each other as well. It shows that they’re not teaming up against you, they both just want to eliminate any opposition. Including each other.
So, basically, in this ending you traumatize the already traumatized Giegue even further by singing the least appropriate song possible in the least appropriate moment possible, causing him to, basically, curl up and retreat deeper into his mind. It's not just twisting the knife in the wound of poor Giegue - it's sticking the motorized iron wire brush into it and running it at full speed. Do you leave him at that? No, you follow him with intentions to continue fighting. Then you fight with what are either chrono-projections of the previous clique of the protagonists or their imprints in Giegue's memory, which he tries to use to shield himself from you. Of course, your party manages to destroy them and whack his core personality even further. With nowhere to retreat and being so damaged and traumatized, he just... gives up and dies. Mission complete, I guess. Even though the reality itself is wobbling from the way you did it. But hey, the universe is safe now, right? Right?..
No, those swirls were souls/amalgams of Chosen Four of M1. AND YOU KILL EM. AND THE TIME ENDS BECAUSE YOU CREATED PARADOX, resulting a destruction of universe
I always thought what happens here is that Niiue "singing" causes a doorway to the source of Giygas' angst (the Chosen 4 from Mother 1) to open, and destroying them makes it so that Giygas can't form and as such, causes a time paradox since the events of Earthbound can't happen.
Ninten, Ana, Loid and Teddy are fighting Alinivar, Colonel Saturn, Niiue and Marvin for the fate of the world. Should Alinivar win, all will be destroyed!
As far as I know, what's happening here is that you pushed Giegue so far down the rabbit hole of trauma that he tried to defend his shattered mind with the memories of what defeated him long ago. Of course, you still end up beating him down further and further, and inevitably his mind just... I dunno, collapses? Inevitably, since you basically just stopped (killed?) Giegue he doesn't have the chance to become Giygas and thus Earthbound never happens, royally screwing-up the timeline.
Megalovania A song for bad people... But heroes nonetheless. Despite everything Vriska is still a hero. Despite his laziness Sans is still a hero. Despite your paradoxical actions, they are still heroes. Dr. Andonuts breaks the chain. Fuck him. "You don't have to 8e a good person to 8e a herohero"
The ending is the least possible, considering a paradox would destroy all timelines, meaning we shouldn't even be able to get other endings, yet we still can, which means this ending doesn't happen. Although this is amazing.

This is even worse for the Applechasers than it seems at first. Niiue's singing allows the Applechasers to jump in and attack the Giegue core, but it's not the Applechasers that destroy Giegue, it's Giygas himself once the Applechasers destroy the Swirls that protect him. You just helped an all powerful Eldritch Abomination destroy what little rationality it still possessed at that point. Now there's nothing holding Giygas back, so it obliterates most of Magicant and possibly the real world as well.
So, in Explanation, Gygas gets extra traumatized, so his mind gets into the defensive again, the problem is that Alinivar gets the door open and gets to fight them thinking they can kill Gygas on the process, the problem is that they are seeing Gigue's core before fusing with Gygas, making him vulnerable, after killing the shadows protecting that core that Gygas were unable to touch it is able to consume Gigue because those shadows were Gigue's defense mechanism, so the power of Gigue gets his own will ad consume him forming a Gygas without any chains like earthbound but on full power Thing that was not on earthbound because the devils machine prevented it and in the end he was dissolving already
I understand this is called Paradox Ending because it creates a time Paradox but if someone could explain it to me really clearly that would be super awesome because I’m a dunce
Basically in this ending Niiue's singing causes Giegue/Giygas's emotional trauma, which is so intense that he literally opens a portal into his mind that the characters go into. After going in his mind and opening the door, they connect to the source of giegas's emotions, the memory of his fight he had with the chosen 4 from mother 1. After defeating the projections of the mother 1 characters, you prevent giygas from attacking earth in the future, the events of mother 2 can never happen, thus causing a time paradox
So Giegue is fighting you but him from the future, which never happened yet, is watching (btw I mean Giygas) and you are fighting 4 people who should have existed years ago but still don't exist?
+Kingofgoldness RBLX RR The swirls are the heroes from the first game (Ninten, Ana, Lloyd, and Teddy) and the G-core can supposedly be Giegue or the Apple of Enlightenment. By killing all 5, you destroy the past and prevent the present from happening, forming a paradox. In the ending, everything begins to evaporate.
+Agent McGrath which means Giygas will never win or lose, The "REAL" Chosen Four (In Mother 2/EarthBound) will never fulfill their true destinies. But o. the bright side... *•SPOILERS!!!•* In Mother 3, Claus will never die! :D

Nothing, probably, aside from their timeline getting royally fucked up. So, in Explanation, Gygas gets extra traumatized, so his mind gets into the defensive again, the problem is that Alinivar gets the door open and gets to fight them thinking they can kill Gygas on the process, the problem is that they are seeing Gigue's core before fusing with Gygas, making him vulnerable, after killing the shadows protecting that core that Gygas were unable to touch it is able to consume Gigue because those shadows were Gigue's defense mechanism, so the power of Gigue gets his own will ad consume him forming a Gygas without any chains like earthbound but on full power
Thing that was not on earthbound because the devils machine prevented it and in the end he was dissolving already
All I heard was *BOOM KABOOM BANG BANG THUMP CLANK*
This might be one of the most fucked up endings in a video game ever
what's with alinivars body
Niiue He put him into the chimera machine on Mars.

So Giegue is fighting you but him from the future, which never happened yet, is watching (btw I mean Giygas) and you are fighting 4 people who should have existed years ago but still don't exist?
Why is it called "paradox" ending
+Kingofgoldness RBLX RR The swirls are the heroes from the first game (Ninten, Ana, Lloyd, and Teddy) and the G-core can supposedly be Giegue or the Apple of Enlightenment. By killing all 5, you destroy the past and prevent the present from happening, forming a paradox. In the ending, everything begins to evaporate.
+Agent McGrath Woah
+Agent McGrath which means Giygas will never win or lose, The "REAL" Chosen Four (In Mother 2/EarthBound) will never fulfill their true destinies. But o. the bright side... *•SPOILERS!!!•* In Mother 3, Claus will never die! :D

The main characters of Mother/ Earthbound 0
you'll never be able to defeat the chosen 4.
oh hey this looks pretty co-damnit
* BAD TIME *
so you have to kill ninten Ana Lloyd and Teddy
WHY!?!?
Christi Etue You play as the enemies.
Actually im pretty sure that is the corrupted souls not them since giygas is there too
@@yeenjaw n00, y u have to tell da fak infu? I mean, those swirls are true souls of chosen four, because they are fighting Giygas as well
The Paradox...
ITS LIKE MEGALOVANIA!!!!!
That's because it's a Megalovania remix.
MEGALOBADTIMES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
shit undertale now is shit after these kids played and maked these AU's and OC's. now undertale is shit.
there's so much undertale trash no one realises that this came first
The struggle
Megagigyas(the background is giygas in the battle)
Wouldn't it be ironic if Niiue was inducted into SSBU. This would be the first fan character to a Nintendo property in a smash bros game. I know it will never happen but would be cool if it did.
I mean, it's kinda already happened when Mewtwo was introduced in SSBB.
I was wondering when Megalovania would happen in the game.
Finally my question has been answered.
There's one more in Chapter 2
1:10 is that super Mario 64?
Warning: Don't wear headphone.
Is The Boss Called "Nalt" Or "The Nalt Swirls"?
N - Swirl = Ninten
A - Swirl = Ana
L - Swirl = Lloyd (Not sure if thats how its spelled)
T - Swirl = Teddy
G - Core = Giegue
The boss isnt called anything, you're essentially going back in time and erasing the events of Mother 1 however this is a paradox because then the protagonists of Cogdis wouldnt have had to go defeat Giegue to do this
Sans
@@deathtoisa That means the world of MOTHER would cease to exist.

Universal universe self destruct!
Also isn't this an ending were your kinda the bad guy trying to kill giygas with brute force and it works but you create a paradox
Any fan game with paradox gets inf × ? / ?/inf
You literally killed Giegue in this ending with all 4 protagonists in Earthbound Zero.
This confuses me still. Why are you fighting Ninten Ana Lloyd and Teddy? Why are they Giygas swirls?
Their corrupt souls since in this ending you broke the timeline
I don't need name This was a year ago but I think because by killing giygas before mother 2 it fricked everyone up cuz buzz buzz was still sent to the past/future? and idk ‘this was a year ago
Maybe those are just projections of Giegue's memories of them. Maybe they're sort of a chrono-shadows, cast by protagonists from another time. Who knows.
"I did it. I saved the world!"
universe: no
Alinivar is still: that guy

Megalovania as seen on Undertale isnt the only time Toby Fox put it in a game, Toby Fox first used it on an Earthbound ROM hack, then on Homestruck, then this Earthbound fangame, and then Undertale, its just dissapointing to see people say things related to undertale on theese kind of videos, don't get me wrong, Undertale is a great game, the community is bad, that's what i can say
No.
@@coffie2293
Fun fact, Toby Fox didn’t work on this game. He’s listed under “Special Thanks” in the credits, so he was likely a source of inspiration, advice and Megalovania rights, but didn’t do any coding for the game.
wait was this made by toby?
The very first megalovania... was it?
Flame Man nope, eb Halloween hack was the first.
No. This was the second
1. Earthbound Halloween Hack: Megalovania plays when fighting Dr. Andonuts
2. Homestuck:
Megalovania plays in [S] Wake
3. CogDis:
Megalovania plays when fighting swirls but a main character from Mother 1/Earthbound 0 (Beginnings)
4. Undertale:
Megalovania plays when you fight sans in Genocide Route

So what happened to Giygas in this ending?
Thor's Hammer like everything.. It disappeared, you've caused a paradox so.. Yeah
You kill him.
He never was.
Hoi can see giege behind the parodoxes
WHAT the FUCK happened to the Kids O.o
they turned into mustaches.
xXGTAHUNTAXx xD
R.i.p Ninten, he was better than Ness.
Hiroshi's meme hell Ninten sucks.
Nothing, probably, aside from their timeline getting royally fucked up. I think NALT-Swirls are either Giugue's memories of them, turned into some sort of an active defence for his more-traumatized-than-ever core personality, or some sort of a chrono-shadows (and our battle with them may translate to them as some of those incomprehensible attacks, getting mangled in the temporal transfer process).
