A little bit of advice from someone who grew up in the Green Cove Springs Orange Park area. Fishing year round is tough. Running down to Rodman is a fair choice but I would look at the mouth of Lake George if you're allowed to go that far. Old Pier pillars are on one side and ell grass flats close to deep water there.

If you don't, Try keeping a log of tournament: Date, the areas that worked, weather, lures etc. It could be a valuable tool next time. Schooling bass on the St. Johns love a lipless crankbait. Let it sink to the bottom and literally sweep your rod tip hopping it off of the bottom. Also...rigging a zoom super fluke (Line Through) with a treble hook (one hook in the belly, two exposed out the bottom) just under the surface kills on those schooling fish in open water as well. I know the specific area you were fishing...Jerk baits around current breaks are killer...just have to hit the right breaks on the right tides! Keep up the good work!

Excellent video ! Hey ya`ll did just fine. I hope you don`t mind me giving a little tip, when you see those bass schooling early in the morning like that, try using a swallow running crank bait with a rattle in it from 2 ft. to 4 ft. most of the time those bass are chasing bait fish schooling under the water and you will see one or two bass break the top of the water, but more than likely most of the bass you want see. Try this when your practice before the tournament and see if that will work for you all. Good luck and best wishes on ya`ll next trip out !
something ive learned all my bass fishing days, winter time fishing is the hardest. i usually drop the trolling motor and just running banks, hitting anything and everything i see. sometimes it pays off, sometimes it doesnt. both of you just keep your heads up and working, its gonna pay off. If I had some one in the boat that wasn't fishing and was trying to tell me where to cast and what to do and how to retrieve it I'd totally lose my mind. As a fisherman you have to be in tune with yourself, your thoughts, your gut feelings, and there's no way to get in that focused in-tune feeling with some one doing that. That's like some one trying to tell you mid swing how to hit the golf ball or what club to use. the whole round would be a mess because you wouldn't be able to keep it together mentally. This is the first fishing video I ever watched that truly have me anxiety lol Good lord dude go fish the tournament yourself if you could do it better.

that tournament was so tough me and my partner fished creek mouths thinking they would be stocking up on some bait for the upcoming spawn, but we were to far up the river and the water is brackish i think you have to run at least 15 20 miles south for good bass fishing yall did great for the conditions this tournament is definitely a mental test to just put your head down and grind out those 7 hours we did catch a 22 inch redfish on a deep diver though lol
Ya it was crazy me and my buddy actually got 5th place with 15.14 and we caught all of our fish on a swim jig in six mile creek right to the left out of trout creek

There just wasn’t enough bites to make us really stay. We were shooting for 5 fish and we felt as if making that move to pitch that cover was the deal. Sometimes you just have to make risky moves to win, sadly that didn’t go to plan but I mean that’s part of it❤️👊🏼

Outside the pads, on the schoolers....js. catch em a lot quicker if they're slapping a chatterbug then you will Flippin and senko fishing....especially when that doesn't seem to be the deal. i’m moving to florida in a year or 2 i fished ponds my hole life up in new york , i was woundering what would be my best bet fishing fresh water down in florida , should i look into buying a boat or kayak??? or is there places from land to fish from

That fish you broke off Hillary was because you had your rod pointed straight at the fish. Never point your rod at the fish like that. To keep a fish from jumping off at the boat pull the fish side ways with your rod tip low.( not pointed at the fish.)
