Great video! Do I need to remove the hood star when removing the grille insert? Should I replace the grille to hood gasket before reinstalling? I have a 1985 300SD.
Thanks. You do not need to remove the Star. My grille seal (gasket) was good so I did not replace it.If you need one the part # is 126-888-00-97 and eBay has them for under $30.

I am installing a new vertical center molding but the old one won't slide more than 2" in either direction so I can't get it off How is it removed?
You just have to pull it down with needle nose pliers hard. It will slid off.
