Yes it should be the same process since adding a custom domain is unrelated to both. To deploy you do need to connect both the client and servers apps though.
for me everything is working except the my custom domain, it shows an error: This site can’t be reached. is that something that you heard of? Am i supposed to wait 48 hours for it to configure or something?
Vercel makes it easier than that. You need to add a CNAME if you want to make one domain point to another, but you do that already on the video when setting up the domain itself (when you picked which one is prod ). For the A record you set the same thing for the domain but with IP address. No needed since you are already entering the domain name with .com. If you want to point server somewhere else, then you can do that.

What if you want to make a vercel app become a subdirectory of a domain name already hosted on vercel
You should be able to just add the subdomain or point to that in that case
