One tip for anyone having difficulties knowing when to charge attack on Wriothesley. When he gets to 50% Hp when his skill is active, he stops draining his Hp. That's the time to charge attack. You don't need to rely on the glowing aura. Just look at his Hp bar and charge attack when it stops draining. The same can be said for the duration of his skill. If he stops draining Hp while normal attacking (and he's not at half Hp), that means his skill duration is done.
Might work in some cases, tho you also have to remember that it's possible that the CA buff isn't ready yet due to CD even if you're at 50%. And if you do an unbuffed CA, eats stamina and doesn't heal you anyway. My alternative advice is sticking to a rhythm or just measuring the CD time by combo segments, but whatever works for y'all is best ofc.
@@halevy7987 You generally only run into that issue if you are giving him attack speed buffs. I don't really use combo segments since stuff like dodging multiple enemy attacks or status effects like cryo can influence the counting. Thanks for bringing up the point about the cooldown though.
Here is the issue. Wriothesley loses more HP than he gains. You're looking at 47.5-50% HP lost vs the 30% healed. You will need someone to provide healing bonus like Qiqi or someone one Maidens for Wriothesley to be effective without starting the following rotation with less HP. Instead, minute healers like Yaoyao, or single instance healers like Baizhu skill and Barbara burst are better choices. You can also try out Mika or Prototype Amber on Nahida for healing on burn melt teams. Even Sayu could work.
I'm really sad Layla wasn't mentioned. She has a shield, can be a cryo battery for Wrio, and at c4 can buff his normal attacks. She may not be as good as Zhongli, but she's an amazing f2p option
Layla is the only shielder I've taken to 90 🙃. for me, she feels more fluid to play than Zhongli, cause I swear It's like I'm pulling his pillar out on the field with my own hands after a couple of rotations 😅
Was just thinking the same thing! Layla buffing nas with c4, slap on tenacity, and maybe the key if you have it, and I think she'd be perfect to pair with Wriothesley

I think with situations like with Wriothesley here, on-demand single burst of healing are best with him instead of the common interval healing most healers do. With interval healers, it makes it difficult to trigger his enhanced charge attacks but with burst healers like Baizhu, you don't have to worry about it and just heal on-demand after using Wriothesley's ECA
On Burgeon team: PROTOTYPE AMBER NAHIDA Unlike Yaoyao and Baizhu, who struggle with consistent off-field dendro application, Nahida on prototype amber still great in that regard while providing okay enough healing to sustain against dendro core damage and some of Wriothesley’s hp drain, especially when your burgeon trigger is Thoma, who provides further damage mitigation from cores and enemies.
Where to get enough catalyst billets, though, for both flowing purity and prototype amber xD But I absolutely agree. Nahida does not need max EM in hyperbloom, you can use her for healing. My R2 Prototype amber cannot outshine Kuki at the moment, though
I might sounds like a seller, but if anyone interested, try consider C2 Baizhu for burgeon off-field consistent Dendro Application & off-field Healing. Kinda worth it! NO skill/brust needed for these auto-application & auto-healing at all (which means any weapons works). He only have to exist in team. Activate both off-field & on-field automatically, so NO time restriction for these two jobs either. Just make sure that he has at least 1 pyro teammate, and yup, Thoma still the best, but other off-field pyros works too. NO resonance needed, which is a wellcome for additional blooms/swirls in between.

I just tried him multiple times in the trial and he's definitely fun to play. However, I find his first passive quite inconsistent due to HP range just to activate. But his damage potential is still good. However, as a player to genshin for 3yrs, I think Venti is more worth pulling for new to low AR players especially how versatile and powerful he is in the overworld and lower floors in spiral abyss. Still, a great guide Ate Sevy. Good luck for those who is pulling for him or Venti
I have nothing against Venti but as another 3 years into genshin player, I would say wait for Kazuha if you want to recommend an anemo unit to lower AR players. Why not spend primos on a character that both lower AR and end-game players use?
Just wanted to say, the dash cancel *is* consistent, but it requires a directional input to be active to work consistently. Without a directional input it doesn't work every time for some reason.

I was almost worried that she wouldn't mention Wriothesley's... assets... I was not disappointed. Finally a genshin man with some actually prosperous cake- I mean gameplay.
Smol tip that I hope helps: When doing Wriothesley's NA combo, you can dash cancel his N4 and continue his N5, which helps him set off reactions on his highest NA multiplier (that being his N5) instead of having to do so on his N4, which is weaker in comparison

His NA chain doesn't seem to be bugged. I think it just doesn't "lock in" the combo until after your third hit. That quick little "left, left, right" at the beginning HAS to be done before it essentially bookmarks it.

Wriothesley's NA will be interrupted if you sprint rather than dash. I believe this is because it's similar to ittos in the fact it allows you to continue your combo so long as you're sprinting during endlag. As a character who isn't a claymore he just has less endlag and thus, can only tap dodge before he has to input his next NA. You can feel the inconsistency of each attack as NA1 and 2 have completely different allowed windows (NA1 allowing you to NA2 within a far longer window). NA3, NA4, and NA5 also do some strange things only this time, if you dash before Wriothesley's fist connects with the target, you will just skip the whole attack(if his fist connects then you just skip a part of the animation). this is most notable for NA4 and 5, NA4 is a two hit so you can skip the second punch due to how long the attack takes and NA5 can be dashed out of as he jumps ending the attack all together. This is consistent with how you cancel any other normal attack BUT my point is you can cancel the entirety of NA3 and NA4 and STILL continue your combo.
Yo. I just started playing 2 and a half months ago specifically because of this gorgeous man. Ended up saving around 400 pulls, pulled for him and his weapon, only got them to c0 r1. Because the game decided to give me every single one of it, hard pity. I got 2 venti’s weapon at 69 pity, his weapon at 66, Rizzley himself at 81, and then lost the 50/50 to Diluc at 76. I sometimes hate this game with all my life. Anyway, good luck on everyone pulling for him, or if you’re saving for Furina!
Still trying his team comps, yunjin is definitely great with him as for now she is my favorite pair for wriothesley! I think that I'll stick with kazuha yunjin and Bennett for some time
I’m very curious to how he compares to pre-existing Cryo DPS units like Ganyu or Ayaka, he seems to have a bit more flexibility with team comps, but I can’t see how he’d be better or worse compared to the Cryo DPS units we already have

1:35 the NA Combo will not reset if done after 3rd punch (N3). The testers and those creators in the media servers should have seen the issue in the ascension passive. So why did they not report the potential problem to miHoYo?

Managed to get him and still have 97 pulls left. And between dailies, welkin, abyss and events/redeem codes i can get up to 40 more pulls. And i can still get more during Furina banner! Hope she will be a good support for him bc I have yet to pull another hp shenanigans Fontain character (Im saving for Arleccino and Clorinde after Furina and also some reruns). I got Qiqi in my first 10 pull (got Neuvillette before, just 7 wishes apart) and then on my 3th pull of ten, he showed up. Couldn't believe! It's been a while since I got lucky in this game. Every time hit 80 pity lost 50 50 to Qiqi or Jean. Now I have 223 wishes for Furina.
wriothesley is great, but i notice something, in land his ousia alighnment can only be use in his burst, i hope mihoyo give him another way of using his ousia alighment for adventure purposes

Very fun character and as a boxing fan, this tickles my fancy. The Trial does him no favors though since pretty much all the enemies in there can easily stagger him which could make him feel less fun for the average player.
C1'd him yesterday (with R1 cashflow). The team i had planned for him was Sara, Thoma and VV Sayu,.. .but it wasn't fun or functional enough. Also shield didn't allow his HP to fluctuate often enough to keep MH. artefact effect active. Now I am using him with Xingqui, Golden Troupe Dehya and Dori (w/C6). They provide interruption resistance, damage reduction & moderate healing in small increments and enough off-field element application to toolbox whatever reaction I need or want to use with certain enemies.
I just got him on early pity ❤ and i am super happy & I will try to get his C1 after this video and if not i will definitely try to get it on his rerun. I love everything about him (maybe apart from the beetles as ascension materials. Thank heavens I have Lyney). His design is a blessing. I am very happy that Hoyo decided to make more adult cool male characters 😌 I feel truly blessed. Thank you for your amazing video! It will be very helpful ❤
Switching around from Neuvillette to Wriothesley since I got him on a whim after promising to save for Furina haha... Glad I got him tho because man, is he really fun to play. He's also really good in a reverse melt team that I recently found to be working well; Baizhu, C6 Thoma (for his C6 buff), Xiangling and Wriothesley. Is it optimal? No idea but he's melting a lot more than I thought, which is GREAT
Regarding his Ousia burst, I honestly don't think Arkhe mechanic is really that significant or will determine the result of the battle unlike Dendro reaction that Sumeru brings us so even if you don't have Fontaine characters or even if you don't bring the correct Arkhe you can still face up against Fontaine enemies without much issues. As for his passive, IF you are at C0, just don't think too much about it; bring healer and instead focus just on his NA. If it triggers that's cool consider it an emergency heal and bonus on your CA.
Now that he's out in eu. I noticed that u can dash and continue his 4th normal attack...and u can continue with final blow (his 5th normal attack) So N1 N2 N3 dash N4 N5 Idk if i made sense
Came here after getting my boy AND his C1 right after each other. Very excited to build him, sadly my lack of 5 Star supports seemingly puts me at a crossroads
I vowed to myself to get the first cryo catalyst back at the end of version 1 already and I will spend until I get him (hopefully not going into guaranteed teritory). It also helps that he is basically Jotaro and mechanics revolving around losing and gaining HP have proven to be very fun to me in Starrail, so why not give him a shot here. I'll probably play him with XQ, Diona and Mona (I don't he Shenhe or Kokomi, sadge). That team will probably suck though

Diona is pretty much an all-around upgrade to Layla. Aside from the shield/cryo battery like Layla, she also buffs/heals allies and debuffs enemies.

Smol tip that I hope helps: When doing Wriothesley's NA combo, you can dash cancel his N4 and continue his N5, which helps him set off reactions on his highest NA multiplier (that being his N5) instead of having to do so on his N4, which is weaker in comparison

Unfortunately Wriothesley's dash continuation seems to either only work on extremely short dashes, or is based on ms. Either way it's not that good :(

I found his dash continuation works most consistently with using the dash to cancel n4, so you can melt with n5

His NA chain doesn't seem to be bugged. I think it just doesn't "lock in" the combo until after your third hit. That quick little "left, left, right" at the beginning HAS to be done before it essentially bookmarks it.

Wriothesley's NA will be interrupted if you sprint rather than dash. I believe this is because it's similar to ittos in the fact it allows you to continue your combo so long as you're sprinting during endlag. As a character who isn't a claymore he just has less endlag and thus, can only tap dodge before he has to input his next NA. You can feel the inconsistency of each attack as NA1 and 2 have completely different allowed windows (NA1 allowing you to NA2 within a far longer window). NA3, NA4, and NA5 also do some strange things only this time, if you dash before Wriothesley's fist connects with the target, you will just skip the whole attack(if his fist connects then you just skip a part of the animation). this is most notable for NA4 and 5, NA4 is a two hit so you can skip the second punch due to how long the attack takes and NA5 can be dashed out of as he jumps ending the attack all together. This is consistent with how you cancel any other normal attack BUT my point is you can cancel the entirety of NA3 and NA4 and STILL continue your combo.
Yo. I just started playing 2 and a half months ago specifically because of this gorgeous man.
Ended up saving around 400 pulls, pulled for him and his weapon, only got them to c0 r1. Because the game decided to give me every single one of it, hard pity. I got 2 venti’s weapon at 69 pity, his weapon at 66, Rizzley himself at 81, and then lost the 50/50 to Diluc at 76. I sometimes hate this game with all my life.
Anyway, good luck on everyone pulling for him, or if you’re saving for Furina!
C1 is like a C1 Hutao only with more buffs really love him and the guide gave me better understanding of him!👸🙏
Still trying his team comps, yunjin is definitely great with him as for now she is my favorite pair for wriothesley! I think that I'll stick with kazuha yunjin and Bennett for some time

I’m very curious to how he compares to pre-existing Cryo DPS units like Ganyu or Ayaka, he seems to have a bit more flexibility with team comps, but I can’t see how he’d be better or worse compared to the Cryo DPS units we already have

I'm honestly losing my mind becagse this artefact domain seems to despise me and I can't find most of the subdetection units (so he's stuck at lvl.60 for now even though I prefarmed) so trying to get a grasp on the teams is my first step towards maintaining my sanity. This has given me a lot of ideas... Too many ideas... Bit ill figure it out XD

1:35 the NA Combo will not reset if done after 3rd punch (N3).
The testers and those creators in the media servers should have seen the issue in the ascension passive. So why did they not report the potential problem to miHoYo?

Amazing guide as always! Still have no idea which team I’ll put him on. I’ll probably slot in Lynette and although maybe synergy with Furina will be great I am sadly not getting her soon. I’d love Shenhe but she already has a team I’m quite fond of 😢
Managed to get him and still have 97 pulls left. And between dailies, welkin, abyss and events/redeem codes i can get up to 40 more pulls. And i can still get more during Furina banner!
Hope she will be a good support for him bc I have yet to pull another hp shenanigans Fontain character (Im saving for Arleccino and Clorinde after Furina and also some reruns).

got him at 90 pity without loosing to 50/50 and got him again at 50 pity without loosing 50/50 so basically I got him at C1 for 140 pulls
I got Qiqi in my first 10 pull (got Neuvillette before, just 7 wishes apart) and then on my 3th pull of ten, he showed up. Couldn't believe! It's been a while since I got lucky in this game. Every time hit 80 pity lost 50 50 to Qiqi or Jean. Now I have 223 wishes for Furina.

wriothesley is great, but i notice something, in land his ousia alighnment can only be use in his burst, i hope mihoyo give him another way of using his ousia alighment for adventure purposes

Very fun character and as a boxing fan, this tickles my fancy. The Trial does him no favors though since pretty much all the enemies in there can easily stagger him which could make him feel less fun for the average player.
I suddenly want to be Wriothesley's enemies
C1'd him yesterday (with R1 cashflow).
The team i had planned for him was Sara, Thoma and VV Sayu,.. .but it wasn't fun or functional enough. Also shield didn't allow his HP to fluctuate often enough to keep MH. artefact effect active.
Now I am using him with Xingqui, Golden Troupe Dehya and Dori (w/C6). They provide interruption resistance, damage reduction & moderate healing in small increments and enough off-field element application to toolbox whatever reaction I need or want to use with certain enemies.
If I get him I will finally have a reason to build my c2 Jean
I just got him on early pity ❤ and i am super happy & I will try to get his C1 after this video and if not i will definitely try to get it on his rerun. I love everything about him (maybe apart from the beetles as ascension materials. Thank heavens I have Lyney). His design is a blessing. I am very happy that Hoyo decided to make more adult cool male characters 😌 I feel truly blessed. Thank you for your amazing video! It will be very helpful ❤

Yooo this is what I run too! Sometimes I swapbNahida out with Baizhu as a safety net but yeah this combo is a killer.

Switching around from Neuvillette to Wriothesley since I got him on a whim after promising to save for Furina haha... Glad I got him tho because man, is he really fun to play. He's also really good in a reverse melt team that I recently found to be working well; Baizhu, C6 Thoma (for his C6 buff), Xiangling and Wriothesley. Is it optimal? No idea but he's melting a lot more than I thought, which is GREAT

Regarding his Ousia burst, I honestly don't think Arkhe mechanic is really that significant or will determine the result of the battle unlike Dendro reaction that Sumeru brings us so even if you don't have Fontaine characters or even if you don't bring the correct Arkhe you can still face up against Fontaine enemies without much issues.
As for his passive, IF you are at C0, just don't think too much about it; bring healer and instead focus just on his NA. If it triggers that's cool consider it an emergency heal and bonus on your CA.
Im Sure Furina with her 100% DMg bonus and off field Hydro application might help and Cloud retainer with her healing kit

Came here after getting my boy AND his C1 right after each other. Very excited to build him, sadly my lack of 5 Star supports seemingly puts me at a crossroads
I vowed to myself to get the first cryo catalyst back at the end of version 1 already and I will spend until I get him (hopefully not going into guaranteed teritory).
It also helps that he is basically Jotaro and mechanics revolving around losing and gaining HP have proven to be very fun to me in Starrail, so why not give him a shot here.
I'll probably play him with XQ, Diona and Mona (I don't he Shenhe or Kokomi, sadge). That team will probably suck though
