Wow that is seriously a nice car i might buy the one I've been looking at after seeing how good it looks and the leather seats and sunroof are a plus . Thanks a million for making and sharing this video , it has helped me to decide further on buying a Saturn Aura.
I just bought one this past September. 137K. In good condition body wise and interior. All new rotors calipers pads all around. Car runs great but has abs light traction light airbag light and back light is out so i can't see the needles of the guages at night. Seems i have to drop the steering wheel to get to the instrument panel. I wish i knew that at the time i had my mechanic replace the turn signal lever. He had to drop the steering wheel to replace the turn signal. Hope to square all these issues so i can give to my grandson when he gets his license. Too bad they're not made anymore
Yes, I own the exact same car except the wood trim i don't have just black and grey trim on mine. I did have to get quite a bit of work done on because my mother bottomed the engine and both right tires onto the ground from driving into a sink hole on a dirt road. Replaced all engine gaskets, power steering motor, rack and pinion, struts, and coolant pump. up until that point and now just regular maintenance. bought it with 90,000 miles and now has 150,000 miles on it. Works really good burns no oil at all.
Mine has over 210k miles! Only issue I'm having at this point is that every time I shift gears or I accelerate into a different gear (mainly second and third) the whole engine will rock. I've been informed that this could be due to the engine mount wearing away. I'll have to get it diagnosed.
That's great to hear! unfortunately mine got into a wreck this winter and was totalled out by insurance. Hopefully be doing a video on my new car soon. It only had 105,000 I think or maybe 115,000
Hi Greg, thank you for all the information you shared here. I bought the same vehicle, same optionals, with similar mileage as you 86K. When you had the Aura, did you ever changed the transmission fluid? My car seems to be in good shape, but I have no records of maintenance. (I got it in an auction). Some people say change it, others say keep it until it dies on you. I rally like this car, so I don’t want it to die for negligence.
In the video You say 4 speed transmission. Are you sure that's what it was? Mine has a 6 speed auto trans. In D (drive) is the fuel optimization. select i not 1 is (intermediate) sets the power to maximum for regular driving still using all 6 gears. and a L option for maximum power at low speeds. This can be seen in the users manual as well since you don't still have this car. When the time comes to find another car i am going to look for 2008 aura with all wheel drive. I just love these cars.
Unfortunately I no longer have the car. I ended up wrecking it during a snow storm about a year ago now. The car did great for me though I bought it with 83083 miles on it and if I remember correctly I think I wrecked it at around 125000. Up until that point I had no issues whatsoever. The only thing I changed out were the factory rotors because they had problems warping.
It's been a while, if it's floor model there should be release handle on the driver side close to the hood release. If it's like my new car there should be a button to push while pulling up slightly on the handle when it's already fully extended. Once you are able to push the button in just push the handle back down.
I bought mine with 83000 miles on it and paid 9000 for it. I drove it for over 2 years and it had a 125019 miles on it when I wrecked it. Had nothing but oil changes and brakes. I did end up replacing the rotors myself at 1 point because the factory rotors usually have problems with getting warped. So it will usually start to shake sometimes when you brake the vehicle. Other than that It was a great car for me.
I don't remember for sure. But I would definitely remember that exact wording being in the owner's manual. Look under the section with the driver information center
I recently purchased one and I do notice a slight grinding noise when I break from a considerably high speed. Do you know if that would happen to be a brake pad problem or an issue with my rotors?
@@louel4996 Sorry I just now saw your comment. It's hard to say for sure. I do know for a fact that these cars had problems with the factory brake rotors warping. I would say that if the steering wheel and the whole car starts to shake when you brake from high speeds it is probably the rotors. Although the fact that you say it is grinding makes me think of something with the brake pads. Not sure how bad the grinding noise is but there are metal pieces on the brake pads that will start grinding when they are down too low and need replaced.
@@greggast9824 Thanks! That is what I've been told and yes the car does do all that you mentioned and burn a lot of gas! I've gotten a good deal on a brake pad and rotor replacement. As far as the maintenance goes, what are the most important and most frequent issues you remember having to deal with? If any.
@@louel4996 i never really had anything other than basic maintenance. Catalytic converter went out shortly before i wrecked it but i didn't get it replaced befire then.

@@OorahhColeman yeah it's ridiculous. We have between 4 to 8 inches here yesterday

Man this is a nice looking car. I've been thinking about buying one with 29k miles for 8..5k
Get the XR model, packs a lot more punch and is just as reliable. Mine is at 221k miles right now.

The 2007 3.5 had a 4 speed
2007 also had the 2.4 4 cyl
Actually that wasn't released until 2009. Look up the factory specs and available options on cars.com
Actually that was available only in the hybrid model during 2007. The XE trim level didn't receive the 2.4 until 2009
Do you still have the car if so how has it held up?

How do bbn you dis ingage the E brake

I may be a bit late for this answer. You push the E break to the floor until it clicks. When you raise your foot it releases.
im about to buy a 2007 aura xr for 6900 with 51k miles are they good cars?
