Truck drivers typically have a long workday that starts early and ends late. In the middle, they are on the road most of the time, up to a maximum of 11 hours a day. Their workday consists of tight schedules that must be met, with an ever-present risk of delay due to a variety of events.
Truck Driver Job Responsibilities:
Pick up goods and materials, verify loads for accuracy, and deliver them as instructed. Load and unload cargo. Responsible for basic vehicle maintenance; comply with all safe work practices, policies, and processes at all times. Complete and verify paperwork for accuracy.
What does a trucker schedule look like?
Basic rules: we are “allowed” to be “on duty” up to 14 hours per day, with up to 11 hours of that as driving time, with a mandatory 30 minute break before hitting the 8 hour mark & then a mandatory 10 consecutive hour rest break
