I was born there in 62, we lived on station road and a lot of my older relatives lived there, then in the seventies it became a right dump, really nasty. I remember going to the fair in market place in the sixties, I thought it was magical, I haven't been back in thirty years so seeing it look much better makes me feel Better.
All the changes one might have expected from say sixty years ago are there - a complete new batch of shops, new traffic systems, plus one or two surprises eg. a greatly shrunken market, but also one change which no-one could have predicted - nearly everyone these days dresses like a tramp going through a particularly bad time. In the 50s and 60s (and of course in earlier times judging by old pics.) everyone took pride in their appearance. Clothes and fashion were then a major part of life, even during times of economic depression.
Thank you for sharing the walk video. I also wanted to take a walk. from Japan.
