i used to play it on PC windows 98, and for about more than a year it was the only thing running on that computer, like i start my computer and screen stays black, but i know my way around with the keyboard to reach that game and start it, and then screen goes on and i play that game for hours

This always needed an arcade full-size, linkable multi cabinet setup! With the success of most Namco & Sega racers like Ridge Racer and Daytona, a quality arcade port of DDerby with all kinds of tracks, racing conditions, and the big bowl eliminations would've been pretty exciting IMO, especially during the late 90s!
I loved this game even though I´ve never won a single race. It was just too difficult for me.
I always loved playing the Canyon level, putting my car in the little choke point and watching all of the other cars hit my car and seeing all of the destruction. lol
YESSSS! I did that too! It also works on the small jump on the second SCA track. You can also clog Black Sail Valley at the figure 8 and Liberty City on that small chicane when you leave the construction zone
Did this all the time, my main goal in the game wasnt winning it was about how i get the others stuck on the map

chump city im playing the ps1 disc right now on ps3, the tracks, the jumps, the chaos, and it still plays great. The music is also awesome and the announcer during races just gives it that finishing touch to make it a true racing classic.
I played this game so much in my youth. Loved the damage model. There wasn't much like it at the time.
Remember always seeing that learner drivers yellow car down in the pit after the big jump on chalk canyon lol

Did anybody else know about the glitch at 7:30, if you blocked the entrance to the bottle neck, the AI cars would smash into your car and a massive pile up would block the road
I always remember being impressed by the amount of AI racers this game had.
they all used the same car models but different color schemes. The impressive part was they configured multiple driving styles for the cars to replicate

You can't tell me they weren't trying to make little kids dump ass in their underwear with this game. This game felt like it would kill you if it could. Sinister, dark, grimy, you're a sacrifice to the gods of carnage.

I had a demo of this game for early windows maybe 18 years ago. it came on a disk with 50 other demo games and it got either stolen or thrown out and im still bitter about it. i miss this game so much.

This reminds me of when I was at an age where I slept in the same bedroom as my dad and would wait until he was asleep then put the PlayStation on and play this game for hours. The Characters were all so iconic to me. I can't see red and light blue together without thinking of the car on here.
This soundtrack was the hardest heaviest album I had ever experienced at the age of 10.
The only game where the AI wants you dead and the same for the scenery, I was 5 years old when I played it a real blast
16 at the time and I enjoyed this game that much I kept it still in my collection of PS1 games.
I came here after trying Wreckfest, felt kind of disappointed. Honestly I had so much fun playing DD2 when I was a kid, I thought I could feel the same way with a modern derby game, but DD2 is just unbeatable

My favourite track was chalk canyon. I always used to try and perfectly flip the car and land it from the little ramp on the right hand side before the downhill jump run. Still have this game , came in a double chunky cd case. Happy days

Also cause a massive car pile up was one of the things I loved to do.
If not for the original title of the series and then of course this one, we would have never gotten the Burnout series. I still have the case, and I believe the game too 😀.
The game is as impossible in pro mode as "superm ghoulsn ghost". but the OST is FU**IN SENSATIONELL!

Owned the first game HAD to buy the second! & it blew away my expectations, looked quite a bit different, was a lot more fast paced & the sequel actually added verticality & jumps!! OMG! I remember how amazed & impressed I was, spent soooo much time with DD2, this & Gran Turismo, they just havent been beat still to this day when you compare the year they were made & the technology at their disposal, in comparison, Gran Turismo SHOULD have Over 4,000 Rea lworld brand name cars & over 100 tracks, literally, & thats with not adding it up properly, in reality it should be double that again when u consider its 2021 & the tech we have now. Devs suck now.

Why are you racing?? Its destruction derby man....i used to sneak around corners and catch em with glancing blows and get loads of points. Aim to have em all F'ed by the last lap and just take em over. On the 2nd track I used to get to the front and stall right at the tight road and create a pile up...sometimes the pile up was enough to jam so that no one could get through!!! Oh man, i loved this game
I used to do that too, on the grand canyon. I'd go sideways to completely block it off too lol.

the predecessor to Burnout, although Reflections hit it big with Driver, I wish they continued with this series because it fell apart the second they left
the only thing that made this game challenging was that certain cars were out to get you while others seemed to have cars built like tanks

I think PlayStation racing games are better than n64.. but n64 deffo had better shooters.. goldeneye and perfect dark blew games like medal of honour out of the water in my opinion.. they got golden eye we got tomorrow never dies 😅😅🤣🤣

I think this was the very first game I bought for the PSX. The cars were so difficult to control it was frustrating! That said, Destruction Derby Raw was by far the best of the series.
