Smoothest jumper of all time 🔥 best shooting form of all time because how he doesn’t fully extend his arms but still gets the shot off with a defender close up on him.
What I love about Carmelo is that he’s probably the most fundamentally sound scorer I’ve ever seen. The average NBA player has to rely on speed and agility to break down a defender which causes a lot of them to sometimes be out of control and cause turnovers. Carmelo is always in control. Doesn’t matter who’s guarding him wether their stronger, quicker or taller. He plays them all the same and most of the time he barely has to dribble to create space. What Melo had that very few players ever get is mental quickness. Thats something all the greatest scorers have but usually they also have speed, agility and handles to go with it. Melo’s ball handling was good but he never had to use it. He relied almost solely on fundamentals and mental quickness to break down defenders. Attacking your defender when they least expect it, keeping them off balance with simple jabsteps and head fakes, changing your pace and just being unpredictable makes you a dangerous player. If you can create space with out dribbling it automatically makes you harder to guard even if your a slower player. If your already a gifted athlete who masters mental quickness then you’ll be ungaurdable
