Sitting here in my apartment makes me jealous....but....more focused moving into a home with a little land so we can work/ play & enjoy & become more self sufficient. Thanks for keeping dreams alive. Thanjs again for your videos
Ally, you and Kyle are the most industrious people we've ever known. My wife and I are amazed at what a great gardener you are, too!! What a harvest! We're so happy you have a garden with alot of sunlight so your efforts can come to fruition. And thank you for the tips on what to use the different plants for - my wife was taking notes. We look forward to all your videos to come. Take care.
No need to take everything out of your garden. Leaving it gives good habitat for bugs and other wildlife, food for birds, it helps reduce soil erosion and by leaving the roots in place it won’t disrupt the microbiome of your soil and then it also gives the micro organisms in the soil something to munch on.
Yes ! I was going to say the same thing. If you want to “neaten” up the garden you can cut stalks but leave at least 18”, that is where most beneficial bees and insects will over winter. I leave the entire plant for the winter birds to gather seeds. Also, please Do Not use nets!! Birds and snakes get caught in them! Bad juju for your beautiful garden!! Also, please look into planting as many native plants (native to your area or the Northeast). These will attract native bees and insects that will nest on their host plant, producing lots of native pollination for your plants and trees. Love, Mother Nature 💚💚
The cold plunges seem awesome. Reminds me of how my karate instructor would take us outside in the winter and train barefoot in the snow. Very invigorating and made the dojo seem a lot warmer when we went back inside. Thank you for being a looked forward to part of my Sunday afternoon. Blessings to you and Kyle.
Thank you so much Ally another beautiful and inspiring vlog. I could watch them for hours 😊 A little suggestion is I find when making those little fiddly sewing projects, sew on the pencil mark then cut it out after it's a lot easier than trying to sew a margin when it's already cut out 🤷♀️ give that a go and tell me what you think. I found this out by making a lot of fiddly Tilda patterns 😊 I'm 58 now and truly wish I had your ethos when I was younger but better late than never eh 😉 bless you keep it going the rewards are endless xx
Hi sweat Pea! What a cool and wonderful life you have. I wish more young people did what you do. So enjoy watching you. Your family should be very proud!@! Hugs!!
Hi Ally! Such a lovely pace to this film! So good for the soul! Cold plunges and last harvesting keeps you in touch with the seasons and brings you close to the beautiful world around you! Well done, great film! Take care Fairy of the wild woods! xX❤Xx
Great job with the wood shed… it must be nice to have the space to store enough wood for the winter… ! I have a patio space in a condo, but this week I covered the furniture with tarps… for the winter…& today I finished splitting some firewood for the fireplace… some smaller pieces, I like having a variety of sizes to keep the fire going. I probably have a little more than a face cord… but enough to get me through the winter… fall is always one of my favorite times of the year… your soup looked delicious… Soups and stews… mmmm 😋 comfort food! Another fall favorite… take care and keep warm. 🍁🍂🍁🕊️🍁🍂🍁
Thanks so much! I am so grateful to have the shed now (and to be on a good schedule), as last year was pretty crazy going out almost daily in the mud and snow to chop wood haha.
Hi ALLY😊, Its still 80s and warm way down here...we never see fall foliage 😢😢...i wish i lived close by to have help on health issues..😢 Great food forest garden..wonderful wood shed...wish everything was ALL NATURAL/CHEMICAL FREE..stay wsrm dear.hugs to 🐈 😻 🐈⬛️ ❤❤🎉take care..❤🎉😊ty for your hard work...
Very well done! Your production was very calming as I continue to recover from my surgery. Thanks for the vibes sent to me in your reply from last vedio.
I keep wishing you guys would collaborate with Hannah Lee Duggan. I think you guys would really hit it off. Seeing you do all you do is very inspiring.
It's all either chopped and frozen, gifted to friends, dried for tea or braided into an incense stick. Such a lovely plant! The brown parts went into the compost to nourish future lemongrass and other plants.
I made veg beef soup with bone broth and added sour kraut to it. It turned out delish..love your videos. I'd love to watch you do essential oil extraction and making body butters or balms with it.
Mmm that’s sounds divine! I’ll certainly do a full process video some day. I’m thinking in the future it may even be cool to have a TH-cam channel dedicated entirely to herbalism and natural products as well and show all these things in depth!
Amazing! I can’t wait to try them. To my surprise, some of the carrots are still coming up very large, but there are definitely are a bunch of small ones.
What have you been up to during the transition from warm weather to cold weather?

Your homesteading journey is so inspiring! I also love your sound design, the balance of the music and especially the crunching leaves! 🍁🍂
Thank you! I’m glad you noticed the sound design, I love playing with different audios to create certain ambiances.

I was going to say the same thing. I've learned that leaving helps your soil in spring when you replant it's richer and healthier.

The spent peppers can be strung together and dried. Add to soups, stews and dips throughout the winter season.
Amazing tip, thanks so much!

That soup looked so good! Do you have a favorite recipe that you’ve made in the past?

what foraging book do you use
I have learned across many different books, videos, friends and my apprenticeship - but where I started book-wise I think was Foraging the Northeast.
