You should do some research about traveling in China before going there, which will save you all the unnecessary hassles. China is not your typical messy world. it has its unique system for people who like to live in harmony and peace.

There is always first time for everything. I learnt from other foreign youtubers that go to China that you need to have a hotel booking and you really need to go to that hotel instead of changing hotel upon arrival. It seems the government wanted to make sure tourists really go to their planned destination.

Hi Nahana, to make it easier for you, I'll break them down into 3 categories for easier planning :
    1) City areas
    - Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzen, Guangzhou, Chongqing etc....., even they're big cities, you'll still find their integrations of hundreds to thousands of years architectural buildings there, not to mention some really beautiful gardens which were many rich or high ranking officials homes before.
    2) Out of city, sub-urban to rural areas
    - there you'll be astonished by their beautiful heaven-like mountainous landscapes. Recommended locations are towards the Southern part of China, provinces like Yunnan, Henan, Guizhou, Kunming and within those provinces there are so many tourist attractions there, so many that I don't think you could finish all of them within a year. Personally I fell in love with places like that.
    3) Historical areas
    - Thousands of years of historical Chinese civilizations that I can think of - Xian and Beijing. When you venture and got to know more about China's 5,000 years civilization, you'll understand why China have never colonized any countries in history before and will never do that contrary to what you have read or heard. China have gone thru many wars thousands of years ago which had millions of its own people k1lled for the sake of warlords wanted power, money and control and the very fact China have not colonized country or countries throughout centuries speaks itself.
If you liked beautiful sceneries, I would suggest look at Category No.2 above. Good luck and enjoy your future trips to China. *Remember to download
Offline Chinese Simplified and English languages in Google translate so that you can use the translator even without internet connections.
FYI, I'm not from China but have traveled many times to China since 1990s till few months ago and will be visiting again in February again, that's next month.

It was way better than expected (the media shows it a little differently). I found the people really helpful, I was only there a short time and a few people really went way out of their way to help me, such as the man volunteering at the train station, a girl who worked at Lawson that gave us directions, and the hotel staff who were always friendly and understanding. I had a bit of a stressful time at the airport but in the end it was fine. I would definitely go back to China (I can't say the same for some of the countries I've been to!)

Hello beautiful Nahana, China is not a very typical tourist destination for Westerners, so it would be a good idea to do some research before coming to China to make your trip smoother. For example, you can enable mobile payment function, VPN, local map APP and translation software in China, etc. Chinese people's English ability is generally not very good, but they are very friendly and enthusiastic to tourists. If you need any help, you might as well take the initiative to ask for help from people around you, and they will definitely respond to you very friendly.

Doing some homework before travelling to a new country always help. There are tons of vlogs in TH-cam to watch & learn. You probably needed a VPN enabled mobile phone downloaded with a Wechat app. Most of the payments, booking a Didi (China version of Uber) etc.. can be done using a mobile phone. You only need some cash just in case since China has long adopted a cashless payment system. Security is important to China which explained the frequent bag scans in public transport & many CCTVs around. BTW, the cameras are not there to spy on you despite most of the biased western media claim.

I saw a lot of closed down shops and restaurants as you walk 5 minutes away from the main area (the bund and nanjing road) and as I mentioned in the video, (even though people in the comments try to deny it) there were no restaurants around where my hotel was (Shanghai railway station) except from fast food chains, that I don't consider restaurants (starbucks, McDonald's, KFC) and these were mostly empty. I didn't really know what to make of it because I thought that's a business district. The metro was really busy at all times of the day though.
