Stefano Dionisi grande attore. Delicato e potente! Emoziona con i suoi occhi penetranti. La voce del cantante che canta CARA SPOSA è bellissima. Il regista, che lavoro magistrale! Io non sono nulla per dirlo, ma questo film mi ha emozionato. La mia canzone preferita: lascia che io pianga!
J'ai trouvé ce film merveilleux ! Très touché par sa sensibilité et la douleur qui ne quittait jamais vraiment Farinelli.
Je savais déjà que deux (2) voix avait été utilisé pour donner le "rendu désiré". Et le résultat a été sublime.
Ces 2 vidéos nous montre une partie du travail de réalisation, j'ai beaucoup apprécié connaître cela mais je trouve que c'est trop court, j'en aurais pris plus.
Tout ce qu'on dû travailler le "rôle principal" ainsi que la Soprano-colorature et le Contre-ténor (ou Haute-Contre). Quelle sensibilité et beauté émane de ces trois personnes.

Even though the main actor playing Farinelli 's voice was not actually being used, in the interest of realism, he still had to learn the breathing, mouth formation, etc. that comes from years of practice and vocal training and is exhausting Even for a professional singer. I remember many nights in the studio until 2 or 3 am. Utterly as spent as a wet noodle; and I had been singing 20 years by that point.
I give him props because to have to wear the heavy brocade, learn the lines and act, and then throw in the added complications of breathing, throat muscle movement, all of which will be seen, is a high difficulty rating indeed.

Yes it is. The first time I heard The Plaint by Emma Kirkby. The first time I heard 2 counter tenors sing Stabat Mater, the first time I heard Cara Sposa, and of course Barbers Adagio for strings, and many others.
I absolutely loved the film when it came out,have it on video and dvd.I loved the actor who played Farinelli,and can now see how much work it was to come together with this part.I always thought that he looked too masculine and simply to beautiful for this part but it was so well done that you forgot it after a while.Typical masculine traits like an enlarged larynx and obvious muscular structure were never part of the castrati,due to the lack of testosterone.The blend of the two voices was a masterpiece,especially considering the technique that was available then.So glad i found this „making off“ .Thank you so much for posting.💝💝💝

Well, costuming can hide the larynx; from what I've read, despite enlarged arms and legs, Farinelli was beautiful and attractive to women. I think the white stage makeup takes away from the overt masculinity, and puts him more in line with a boy band like Menudo or similar, Justin Bieber at 15; that sort of thing.
J’ai naturellement vu le film sur Farinelli mais je n’ai pas bien compris pourquoi ils avaient mixé une voix de soprano avec celle de Derek Lee Ragin, je pense que la voix de Derek aurait suffi car il a vraiment une voix soprano. D’autre part il y a beaucoup d’erreurs historiques dans le film, par exemple si je me souviens bien il aurait été opéré par son frère Ricardo dans une baignoire? !..
D’autre part a t-il vraiment chanté dans un opéra de Haendel, On l’entend chanter Lascia la spina du Rinaldo, or il était l’élève de Porpora appelé en Angleterre par un parti politique opposé au roi George II qui était le protecteur de Haendel....
Et la scène où Farinelli entreprend de séduire une femme et comme il est « empêché « c’est Ricardo qui finit le travail....
La musique du film est naturellement sublime mais pour qui connaît bien la vie de Farinelli il y a beaucoup d’erreurs gênantes...

My problem with the film is- well castrati looked like young boys at the age of 15- 18 with childlike, feminine faces- even if they were 30, their body looked strange- elongated hands, legs - well kind of teenage boys body or Klinefelters syndrome body. Combien à t'il fallut de voix pour essayer de reconstituer la voix de FARINELLI, dont il ne reste aucune trace ,sauf des écrit de ceux qui l'on connu c'est subjectif, aléatoire mais pas objectif, à une époque où il était de bon ton d'avoir ses vapeurs en public ! Un contre ténor plus une mezzo soprano et une soprano colorature ,pour arrivé à sortir 3octaves et demi de tessiture
