Everytime I lose the sight of my path and feel frustrated, I just come here to watch the girl at the centre. Somehow her calm and beautiful feature helps me think more carefully about what I should do. Thank you the girl I would never know :)
They take their practice so seriously, it’s so precious and calm watching them concentrate. I imagined that if we here in Mexico had Kyudo clubs at schools, students would be fooling around or every time they missed the target they’d be cursing about it or making fun of their friends for missing the target. Japanese culture is so interesting and beautiful.
This is one of my favourite videos on anything ever. That girl is fascinating because she is so fabulously elegant. It's an education for that too because no amount of lucre or celebrity or any of the things most people aspire to can get you close to that.
If you like the beauty of this then you should seek out St Sebastian by Fiona Tan. I saw it in 2001 in Yokohama Bienniale. She had one film screen but two videos of Kyudo. If you went round the back you saw the archers from....the back. Sensuous and artistic.
for those interested in pretty girls the hands on hips may have a particular appeal... but for those interested in kyudo what is most interesting is nobiai and release. We can believe she can put her hands on her hips without being shown ; ) These clips were filmed for the study of kyudo not the study of pretty girls. Some of these young ladies and gents shown actually appear in kyudo text books. Go watch some of the guys they are just as good...
I agree. This is the truth. Some thing that come to mind when I see kyodo. Integrity,Peace, Balance ,Beauty, Art, Self Discipline. I think these women are very pretty, however I believe that showing virtue is what the real beauty that glows. =P
I was wondering the same thing. So, they use a string or what? No wonder they can hold the draw for so long. I was shooting my recurve yesterday and after a little more than a dozen shots my fingers started to hurt.:P I don't use gloves.(peronal choice) It is interesting to know all the different techniques that have developed over the centuries. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
@SenseiStrange The Japanese who say "player" are making an English error. They dont use "play" in Japanese. Budo is not practiced as a game in Japan. Competitive budo is a sport, not a game.
Very focused if you watch closely the eyes of the girl in the middle her eyes dont look anywhere else but the target but the girl to the left of her is looking everywhere.
Great video, nice girls. awesome picture,a girl golding a bow, either an amazon or a samurai woman :)) . Speaking of technical questions, what draw is it used? Is is a pinch draw? it's not mongol draw, although the arrow is on the outside of the bow. ( hope the question is clear, srry )
I just finished reading 'Zen in the Art of Archery' and now I find this art really interesting. I let you notice that all that clapping in the clip is totally silly. The perfect bow player doesn't mind pride at all.
@gammagoochee @gammagoochee I only saw beauty. But I was puzzled by the edit and I saw that this was real and that for some reason the movement which I presumed was part of a complete cycle of preparation, stance, holding the bow, the movement of the hands, and the release, and finally the return of the hands to the hip as the starting position. And so I asked why.
Budo is not a game so in English we don't say "players". Try "practitioners" or even "students" "Excellent practitioners/students of kyudo" What dan are these students??
Sorry if I came across a bit snippy - didn't initially intend to but as most comments are so inane... The clips are of and for those learning kyudo, hence the edit. That was the gist of it. Yes, it is beautiful to watch if it is done well. Apologies for taring you with that particular brush and please keep enjoying kyudo - better still - try it!
At one time I thought s too. But especially Judoka will call themselves Judo players. Probably comes from the the Japanese people speaking English but it has caught on. I use it to. And I differ - much of budo is practiced as a game, especially in Japan. Hence some are in the olympic games.
@TheJapanChannelDcom A sport is a type of game. All sports are games. Not all games are sports. Sport games are not better or "higher" than non-sport games.
@gammagoochee I was disappointed in your answer and now see that the reason for the edit is in fact a projection of the same thing to which you object. As you say this particular video and personage receives a large number of hits, and the argument that you present do indeed seem to reasonably support your theory of why this is so.
projection? what are you trying to say? nobuoseo1973 has a hundred-odd clips up to view. The two showing Harumi Senbyou are the ONLY ones that attract hundreds of thousands of views - not to mention the comments.... Most others are under 10k. Stands to reason that what is being watched and commented on here is NOT kyudo. Doesn't it? Senbyou had a hit rate of over 90% this is more than "eye candy"
@gammagoochee By ending you achieve the same thing as the lustful minds and comments, in that all is not presented and (I can only say for myself) felt and saw that "it" was missed or unfinished and I felt disappointed and wondered. So I asked why. I only saw beauty.
Everytime I lose the sight of my path and feel frustrated, I just come here to watch the girl at the centre.

Her focus is so complete that it makes me relax my mind, too.
Anyone else experience that?
Power through subtlety.
Fascinating!

Excellent! Very beautiful sports! Thats a masterpiece of Kyudo! I love the traditional sports in Japan!

After watching lots of anime, TH-cam recommend this 🙄 and I love it
Beautiful....I like their still stance before releasing arrow. Great skills.
Archery would be the most popular mens' sport in the world if more of them knew about these beautiful girl archers.

The girl in the middle is wonderul. The bow is really a part of her body, sugoi
From what I know, the leather gloves are more modern and in the past, they used to wear cotton gloves with Tekkou.
Best wishes !
Beautiful women, and such focus

why is the full movement not shown ? (hands on hips to hands on hips)
always seem to cut shortly after the arrow releases itself
I was wondering the same thing.

I know Im late to the comments, but women in Hakama are so beautiful

the second from the right that girl took my heart😁
the girl at the 2nd last position looks really concentrated .. that's the beautiful part of the kyudo ^^
Hi. I wonder how i can get in contact with a member or a teacher of this group, to learn more.
Thanks for the info JenKatZen, really appreciate it ;)
I wonder the draw-force of these kind of bows, and if they're able to kill an animal with it...
What is her name? the girl in the middle
+Rommel Mamedoff The number 1 question lol lol
Maybe General student
Uehara ai
Her name is Random Japanese Girl Recorded Without Her Consent
I just finished reading 'Zen in the Art of Archery' and now I find this art really interesting.
I let you notice that all that clapping in the clip is totally silly. The perfect bow player doesn't mind pride at all.
those japanese bows are no longer made for shooting targets, just to show the artistic and elegance of archery :p
Why exactly do they place their hands on their hips after they fire an arrow and pick one up?
It's the posture called Yudaoshi
Ben Emberley Thanks.
what is the name of this arquera? it has a Web or personal blog?

But it is not correct English :-D

notice the alignment of the arrow and the lips of the girl in the middle

i concur.
Girl in the middle at 0:30 is sooooo focused.
we should have archery as highschool sports in europe but not kyudo because that belongs to japan imo
beautiful girls indeed :)
Shirou brought me here
Those girls are badass
Do you even know what badass means?

I only saw beauty.
the girl in-front and in-back are both distracted, you can see their eyes wandering around, this has an effect on performance.
The last girl is cute..
those women are really pretty.
don't oggle too hard guys, i'm almost positive they're all high school girls..off limits!
Too much focusing and too slow for me...
lol i dont see many young men doing this but i dont see many young girls doing kendo either lol
baddass chicks FTW
@theYawatashi
