Les Paul was a remarkably inventive musician and scientist of sound. He basically invented multi track recording. That was how he created these recordings in which Mary is singing over her own backing vocals and he is playing a harmony over a second guitar track. And he created the Les Paul guitar, one of the first solid body electric guitars. That was 75 years ago and it remains one of the top selling models of electric guitars.
