Thank you! It is awesome to hear you as an Indigenous man of faith addressing all of these diversity quandries in a theological context. I have been searching for this! Thank you Lord! Thank you, thank you, thank you. And talking of all these antiquated colonialist approaches to faith. A living faith in a living God!

Yeah, the indigenous mindset has a lot of virtues that the colonial mindset doesn't

Really appreciate this. Western Christian Culture actually can take us away from the core of our faith. Honoured to be in relationship with the creator of our world and I am also unlearning so much to begin connecting with the grace and gifts of mercy that God has given us.

I just knew God had appeared to the people of North America hundreds of years ago. The Holy Spirit tells us. Their are stories to f the Man that appeared to them. 💜

Avatar is not as shallow or short sighted as some people think. and there was a real deep artiest's struggle that took place to address the perception of the "white savior issue" ,, you will note when 'Jake" has his first encounter with the charter Neytiri, the very careful choose of words he uses ,, I need "your" help" basically please help me to core understand or help me "see" things from your peoples perspective of reality so that I might understand the issue from my heart,, the lead charter also goes through a internal transformation inside as he casts off his human body ,, that went through many revisions in the feedback loop ,, Cameron is aware of the life's essence work and deep historical actions of a number of well respected native leaders working on the condolence of past and present issues on an internal level "Jake" swamp" (note the spelling in refection of Jake's full name used in the film is strongly suspected as being one of them, , I also suspect many in the native community know of the historical roots of the "Erie" or "cat" nation,, there was a woman from there lineage tree that played a vital key role in the creation of the great law of peace, one of the ladders of this tree of her family lineage path is the "Blue Jigonsaseh" (her name means Lynx) figure as a part of this lineage path, The Na'vi catch phrase "I see you" also has a source refection within the essence expression of the Zulu Phrase "Sawubona" and reflects a new way of "seeing" ones spirit and the importance of the ancestral recognition structure th-cam.com/video/2IjUkVZRPK8/w-d-xo.html , the grappling with essence aspects of the "Doctrine of Discovery" which in all honesty should be renamed "The doctrine of domination" and aspects of "manifest destiny" of which speaker "Steve Newcomb" of the native law institute is bringing to light upon are also woven in there in a unique sublime way. (Some of the RDA warriors in the film wear crosses around there necks) There is rumor that Jake's leadership will come under scrutiny for these very reasons in the future films in the series under witness from there children. also be aware Cameron was soundly scolded by a clan mother from a tribe in South America for some of the conflict resolution angles reflected portrayed in the film , this was not taken lightly and will be woven into changes in the films continuing story arc..I think people will be surprised at what comes out of this..

Wavoka was a man of spiritual stature. From the Messiah Letter: "Do not tell the white people about this. Jesus is now upon the earth. He appears like a cloud. The dead are all alive again. I do not know when they will be here; maybe this fall or in the spring. When the time comes there will be no more sickness and everyone will be young again." He preached the millenial kingdom......Jesus appeared to him.

We could learn alot from them and from the feasts. Did you not see where the First Nations people were in the video? They are still preaching the gospel, they preach repentance, they preach rebirth, they preach baptism, but what they dont do is say we have to change who we are in order to be acceptable to God. Born again and Born of the Spirit - one new Man. OK, so Im going to listen to Amazing Grace played by bag pipes, put my tartan on, get out my swords and now Im going to worship!

I have watched the video read all of the comments on what Richard is saying here. I find it alarming that so many people assume that white mans way of worshipping God is the only way. Clearly, the fruit speaks for itself, 500 years of our way of doing this hasnt worked and so with a revelation that God created all tribes, tongues and nations to worship Him, it would only make sense that Native Americans or Maori do it in the way their culture and who they were created to be allows.

The issues involve the narrow world view "perspective lens" a people have been are trained to "see" through and ones inability to look outside that box ,, one has been told how one should "see" It also deeply involves issues of embedded "religious tribalism" throughout history that form very effective walls between peoples of different perspectives that work just as well as the stone and mortar ones that have been written within ones source code, for example what about the people that "see" the creator or creation as a balancing force not as a "God" a creation essence force" or great mystery that is both male and female, that has no book , and does use fear control aspects in "its" cosmology examples, for example the concept of "sin" external Rights verses internal responsibility's , there has been a lot of evolution in our perspectives and expression of religion, when we look at aspects of our past history that involve the abuse of positions of power within religion for example "Manifest Destiny" justifying war in the name of God and its core impact upon "First peoples" in relatively recent history ,, (source" the youtube reference used to educate children in the late 70's) ""Schoolhouse Rock - Elbow Room- Manifest Destiny"" from a big picture ethics perceptive "today" there has been huge change upon how this this looked upon..

Look up Peace Child and read Daniel Kekawa who has insight also into reaching the people of Hawaii. And also read IO Origins where Pastor Graham Cruickshank, clearly established that the Maori people had a knowledge of IO long before white mand came. He is not saying there is another way to God, Jesus is the only way, He is The Way, The Truth and The Life, He is saying that white man stuffed up!

Another point, what about the Day of Pentecost, did not the Holy Spirit fall on Jew and Gentile? Did not the people in Jerusalem hear in their own language people speaking the mysteries of God! Pentecost is a feast they went to Jerusalem for, one of three, now are you a heathen because you dont go to Jerusalem to celebrate Pentecost? What about the Judaizers who insisted people had to be circumcised? Is that not the same thing as what we have done?

I'm not giving this a thumbs up or down.
I will say this; our spirituality is Not faith based. Our spirituality is based on reality. I Do have a real issue with people who try to conform me to there way of being. The Lakota way is Not Christianity. We feel our spirituality, the wind the sun. The smell the taste. We see it. It is not based on faith.
    Our savior is not Jesus.
I agree, on the other hand about unity and the underlying interpretation of that unity.
God is god. No matter how you try to break that up. No matter what religion or spirituality you may practice.

There is an important core point about the work that went into involving the reflective aspects behind the structures of James Cameron's Avatar ,, The lead charter "Jake" Sully" makes a heartfelt effort to ask the Fantasy Na'vi people for "there help" in his own worlds " I need "your" help" he does offer "his help" I am here to help you, this wounded warrior charter then goes through a very non topical "transformation" and "rebirth" (symbolically ) Cameron worked very hard to avoid cultural appropriation ,, I suggest people take a deeper look and while the film certainly has its flaws and they all do ,,the pulling the race card from the deck to entertain the White Savior angle ? for those with historical understanding of first peoples of North America (Turtle Island) ,,Avatar touches on Reflective aspects of real past history,, There are 5 na'vi tribes (soon to be 6) that once fought each other both externally and internally and they all faced a great tragedy on there world this was called this the time of great sorrow" then a Great peacemaker from among them united "The people" (sounds awful familiar) part of reason the film holds core reflections comes from our own "real world history" root aspects of many global peoples story's are running under there in reflection,, from a deeply emotive perspective a huge amount of creative work involving dialog with many first peoples leaders and Elders went into this.. there are "both spiritual and religious perspectives in place to try and form a bridging "structure" in reflection to some very common roots the root value of "matriarchal" society elements are represented and recognized as well .. Cameron does intend to address some of weak points and false stereotypes presented in the original film with the rest of the films in the series he has learned a lot since that point in time , he intends to walk with "The people" and "listen" to any constructive criticism they have to say.. and to be as authentic in his reflections as possible..

We cant make them worship the way we are, let them reach their own kind in the way that who they were created to be allows. How arrogant to presume our way is the right way. Im scottish, so if I worship in my tartan and with bagpipes is that wrong? What if I dance with Swords (which I could do by the way) is that wrong? Or, is that OK because I am white! Jesus was and still is Jewish, are you made to worship God the way the Jewish people do?
