    We usually dig a three foot deep hole by about 2 ft wide and fill the hole with good soft soil to ensure good healthy rooting for those initial couple weeks after transplanting also helps maintain a bit of moisture & to help plant roots breathe.

    • @DeBaccoUniversity
      @DeBaccoUniversity  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      If the water table was higher in your site this would not allow the roots to have sufficient aeration. So knowing exact conditions is important for a grower to recognize and make adjustments. Also, the volume of soil you are bringing in is quite substantial.

    Stones in the ground can also be beneficial as they interact with the soils electrical conductivity .
    The large boulders could be crushed to make rock dust which supplies micro-nutrients to the plants .

    • @DeBaccoUniversity
      @DeBaccoUniversity  3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Water is also beneficial and can be made into a hydrogen energy source.... how ever too much can kill you (and plants). The same concept can apply to rocks;-) In moderation they can be beneficial, but it reaches a point that the negative impacts out weigh any potential benefits.

    For cannabis germinating seeds first can save you days of time for finishing some strains properly outdoors. Then place germinated seeds directly into ground/prepared soil, bags. You can prepare the soil in bags weeks before by making Fungal Repositories.

    Fungal Repositories, in a new unopened bag without added fertilizers. Drop bag on bottom to settle and stand on its own. Open very top so you can roll it closed later. Take two hole eggs and a half banana with peel per bag. Place in blender then fill with distilled/rain or lake water. Blend for at least one minute. Using a thumb sized dower or metal rod. Pushing into the soil almost to bottom of bag, rotate rod in a circular motion making a funnel shaped hole. Two holes works best, pour contents into the holes. Roll bag top up and let sit. You can repeat in different holes and the soil will provide the most lush plants ever. I use blueberries, strawberries, watermelons and pineapples to influence phenotypic expressions of cannabis. I also use potatoes to raise nitrogen before flowering. The microbial colonies keep Ph steady, you just keep them in water.

    That is a lot of work. I like that it employs more people, but I don't like how much the soil structure is destroyed in the process. Laying down rows of composted wood mulch and watering it in well a few weeks earlier would have let indigenous microbes come in and prepare the soil for you. I am sure there is a reason it's done the way it is, it just seems like so much destruction.

    • @DeBaccoUniversity
      @DeBaccoUniversity  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The digging is what allowed for an accurate determination of the full soil profile. No amount of microbes can change the fields water table. I wish microbes could prepare soil, but they can only do so much.

      @@DeBaccoUniversity I guess that is the difference between farming and gardening. Thank you for explaining it. I bought some 'bad' land in Oklahoma, the soil was hard as a rock and mostly clay, today everything is green and new tree's spring up every year. We used aged composted wood to mulch the whole property, today everywhere you step is fluffy and soft. We don't farm any of it, but I do have several hugelkultur raised beds.

I’ve grown seeds in as little as 12 hours before but that will depend on the seed so that might be luck but I’ve had this happen countless times over my 2 and a quarter decades of growing herb

  • @marcsworld1love
    @marcsworld1love 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    4:20 what is the spacing you use between holes. From stem to stem I space at minimum 6 feet since each plant outdoors can easily grow branches 3 feet long or longer. When planted to close, it makes it harder for me to control bugs and other plant chores.

    • @DeBaccoUniversity
      @DeBaccoUniversity  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Spacing was around 4ft. with off center holes row to row. However, use this as only a guide as "correct" spacing can depend on your planting time, location and specific type of cannabis you are planting.

    That a magnesium deficiency I spy ? I have the same yellowing on the lowers . Just finally figured it wasnt nitrogen and if I feed ( very little ) cal mag and a 0.5-0.09-0.05 tea ( about 5 ml ) after the 3rd set of true leaves I can prevent this . Or spray with baking soda 2% foliar repeat after 4 days.

    That is simply not true...where did you get your information. People have been directly planting into soil for years and years.....where are you getting or information.

    • @DeBaccoUniversity
      @DeBaccoUniversity  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you can direct plant but typically the germination rate is less than taking extra steps to increase the odds of germination and with the price of seed many growers want to increase their odds of germination.

      @Gillyboy-sz4ys 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DeBaccoUniversity no doubt, that is true. But with the same reason, expensive seeds. A novice grower will pull the seed at the wrong time, snap the tap root, over water the medium, damage the seed in the transplanting process, damage the seed with to much dirt, add stress to the young plants causing it to never become a strong thriving plant... trust me I use both methods. I even some times can get away with just water and a shot glass if the genetics are strong. I’m sorry not try to rain on your parade. I just am super passionate about growing. Been doing it way too long. So I’m sorry if I came of strong. Just trying to say there is more than just one best way to doing things. Inside and out.......have a great day...
