Especially since some of them keep showing as having unread notifications until you follow all of their social media, and I refuse to make an Instagram account again because they had the audacity to lie to me by pretending to detect “suspicious activity” on my newly-created account (before I’d even had a chance to log in for the first time) as an excuse to get my phone number, and I don’t appreciate being disrespected like that.

They're different. It has different storyline and gameplay. It doesn't matter if you delete or keeping the original one, you still have to start from the scratch.
The story continues in the Nightbringer. As for the original one, they still update it with events but i think it's kind of useless since the events are in both apps
