Since the huggers generally are friends or at least know each other, there's usually not much in the way of an "ask". That creates more problems than it solves. In all likelihood, my days of initiating a hug are now over. I will allow myself to be hugged, but I'm not going the other way and asking for a hug.
How to do the best friend for life hug: walk up to them and open your arms then wait for them to lean in for the hug. Next, wrap your arms around their neck and pretend like you're going to hug them but put them in a chokehold and maybe throw some jokes. You may release once they say "Uncle"😌
