You could make the case he was the hottest entertainer in the world for that year. I think Michael and Madonna were in between albums and Don't be Cruel just exploded on the scene.
It's interesting that he was the one to have the most solo success of all his New Edition original group. All of them had good success like Ralph Tresvant and the Bell Biv Devoe collaboration, but Bobby really took off in his solo stint
Bobby Brown was wild back in those days. I still remember him spending 8 days in the DeKalb County jail in Metro Atlanta for a 1996 drunk driving charge.
He was arrested one time for humping on stage! 😄 That might be the video you saw. He was the R&B King for a minute. It's crazy seeing how dance happy he was back then, I would have never thought he'd let himself go and turn into the chubby stiff dude he is now. But, his prime can never be taken away from him, he was that dude 🔥🔥🔥
This song and the album was so HOT!! It stayed number 1 forever...So many hits on that album. It was like the Rise and Demise album of Bobby Brown. Like it shot him to the top of RnB. He was already wild and the success of this album brought it to light in a way no one could have foreseen. I love the brother. Even the album before this one, I believe it was the King of Stage. He had a couple of nice jams on there: Girlfriend, Seventeen, King Of Stage.....man...I use to play that cassette to and from summer school...LOL...Had a Spark-o-Matic cassette player, w/fast-forward only...🤣🤣🤣 Great review!! You can do this whole album!!
@@user-hy1iz2nt1k Also, in Bobby's Rock Wit'cha video if you listen to the voice on the phone it's a really soft voice like Janet's. I think Bobby, as he professed on BET Video Soul with Donny Simpson, was seriously sprung off of Janet Jackson in 1988-89.
I won't deny that Chris Brown possesses multiple talents. However, Bobby Brown was genuinely the first artist to incorporate rapping into R&B songs, influencing many in the hip-hop scene. Notably, Mary J. Blige, Heavy D, and Queen Latifah all embraced this blend of hip hop and R&B, and it's because of Bobby. In conclusion, Bobby has the resume to prove that he should be considered the true king of hip-hop R&B. However, he has not received the recognition he deserves for his innovative contributions. Like Rick James before him, Bobby is often associated with his drug use, which is truly sad and unfair given Bobby's remarkable talent. 5:02💥
He was definitely wild back then but one hell of an entertainer. Love this song. React to Rock With You and Good Enough. Also react to New Edition You Don't Have To Worry with Bobby Brown singing lead
The real question is why the hell isn't New Edition already in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame? Nobody has done what they've done individually and collectively
@@kevinhurston1555 interesting take. however, lets not act like those exact same records would have been hits, had they been done by someone else. Bobby blew those records up to the levels that they reached. Right production, absolutely. Right artist too. but, to your point, this is exactly why artists do decide to diversify and work with other writers and producers. to prove it to themselves as well as to avoid this type of criticism.
Bobby Brown had the R&B game in a chokehold in 1988.
Yeah he did that whole album was a classic
88, 89, 90 & then Whitney happened & his career died
Had Whitney in a chokehold later on
he was hot then. But he fell hard, he fell far and he fell fast.

“On Our Own” from the Ghostbusters 2 soundtrack was a mega hit too, dope song.
Yeah that song was the joint back in the day she should react to that.
The Original King of R&B my guy Bobby Brown
Bobby was a bad MF back in his day.
Before Usher and Chris Brown ...it was Bobby Brown ..."Get Away " by Bobby Brown is a great song too 👍🏼🤩
YESSSS!!!
AGREED and the video is very nice too. And the message in that track Bobby was going thru some things he put to words.
Yes ma'am. Bobby was the complete entertainer: singer, dancer, rapper, and onstage performance. Don't be cruel album is still my favorite.
No he wasn’t because he wasn’t a musician. He relied totally on the musicianship of others. Without his producers he woulda had no career
@@kevinhurston1555he never said he was musician. He said entertainer. There’s a difference
Before Chris Brown, there was Bobby Brown and before Bobby Brown there was James Brown
@@Back_Shots_Whispererand before James brown?

Bobby was everything! You should do the whole Don't Be Cruel album. Fr straight 🔥
Indeed!
Bobby Brown was wild back in those days. I still remember him spending 8 days in the DeKalb County jail in Metro Atlanta for a 1996 drunk driving charge.
Yeah,Bobby was always the BAD-BOY in New Edition and even after he left NE,Bobby was still Bobby. LOL.

I love Bobby Brown! ❤

Bobby Brown - Every Little Step! 💯🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Bobby Brown had a classic album. With a lot hits.
Girl next door is underrated song by Bobby Brown.
Bob was for everyone. the females of course. the fellas rocked with him. the kids LOVED him. he was universally (for the most part) the coolest.
