Thank you mate! Appreciate the comment! Put your camera on Av mode and pick your aperture and then choose the ISO and you can lock that too :) Hope that helps!
Brilliant tutorial of an awesome technique! But I have a question.... Where is the ideal place for the sun to be setting? Behind camera? Over to one side? Or in shot?
Thank you! There is no ideal place for the sun to set - it's up to you as the photographer, all 3 options give different results, there is no wrong answer :)
Holyyyy mate! I adore this slice technique and had been doing it, but for photos. I didn't know it could be create something so sick. Thank you so much for the useful information. I will give it a try and tag you in Instagram! ❤️
Awesome tuts as always, Demas! Just made a horrible mistake and didn't flip my camera to manual focus, so my clips keep bouncing as the autofocus is everywhere during the timeslice :/ How would you remedy this?
@@demasrusli Exactly what I feared. Will have to sacrifice another first born to get the same kinda light again :( Anyway, all the best with your recovery!
Thank youu! Yes you definitely can do it using any video editing program 🙂 Just figure out how to crop the clips and follow the same techniques in this video
Good question, then the ISO will automatically adjust and it will keep getting grainier and grainier and it will keep bumping the exposure up too so it wont get as dark
Hi Demas, I have tried this technique twice and I loved the outcome...but one thing is annoying me that when I choose aperture mode on my DSLR some shots are exposed shorter and some longer resulting in abrupt jumps (in brightness) when stitched into timelapse....Do you know a way to fix this ?
Hi mate thank you for the comment! That is called Flickering - a few ways that you can avoid it is if you shoot full Manual and you control the setting of each photo (but that can be very difficult for a day to night timelapse) or I use a program called LR timelapse (it's quite expensive though :( ) and it can Deflicker the sequence automatically for you
Hi Demas, thank you for this great tutorial, I gonna try it soon. I got a question about interval, is it compulsory to set at 8sec per shot 600 pics 80mins? Or I can shoot unlimited? Is the timelapse outcome the same if I combine more than 600 photos? I am planning to shoot for 2~3 hours. Should I set 8sec unlimited? Thanks 🙏
Thanks for the comment, you can shoot at whatever interval you want and for however long you want. The timelapse will look smoother if you shoot more than 600 photos. At the same time you don't want to shoot for too long (total time) because for this the main idea is to shoot it going from light (before sunset) to dark (after sunset). So if you hv a lot of footage before or after this time frame, it will make the timeslice effect look not so nice. Do you get what I mean?
@@demasrusli Thank you for the enlightenment, I get what you mean. It’s just that from sunset to after sunset 80mins won’t be enough in the place where I live hahaha. I try to shoot till it gets dark. Thank you once again. Love your ideas and contents.
First of all, thank you for sharing your creativity. Demas I just saw this video in the morning and I was wondering if it is recommendable to enhance the raw files in LRTimelapse or is it better to do it in Premier because there (in the second one) you can change the color sequence at best just to see the difference between time of the shot. Thank you in advance for your response Best regards!
Thanks for the comment mate! Yes of course you can use LRTimelapse to do the colourgrading :) The reason why I showed this tutorial using Premiere Pro only was because I didn't want to over-complicate and add an extra program which people would have to pay for to create the edit. I just wanted it to be as easy as possible for everyone :)
Hey man, fantastic tutorial! Definitely gonna save this for reference later, as I've done plenty of timelapses and hyperlapses in my work but never a timeslice! Will add it to my to-do list once we're all able to be outside more again! :D
@@demasrusli i forgot to close minecraft and had the music in the game turned on, and then there was the music in the background of the video, and the beat of the song made a remix out of the minecraft music
Interesting but I don't really like that effect at all. It's like wasting a perfectly good timelapse in my opinion. Nicely explained though, I'll give you that.
Thanks! But you can still use the timelapse as it is though - this is just another way to repurpose a timelapse and do something different if you want to 🙂
You seem to have unlimited ideas and creativity, Demas, KUDOS !!
Thank you mate!
So awesome
Result is unbelievable! Love this!! 😍
Thanks so much!
Love theses types of 'walk thru' videos!!!

My lap top must suck, it's taking me 3 hours to export a 20sec video 😂😂😂 Great tutorial tho, thanks for sharing this technique
Thank you! To speed up the exporting process, I would export the day-to-night timelapse as a video first before doing the timeslice layers
this is maddd
Thanks so much!
Cheers Demas! Super helpful. 🙏🏼👊🏼
Thanks so much mate! Glad you found it helpful!

Haha such a banger view hey! Chicago is dope!
Informative! Also, I immediately knew which boardwalk you were at immediately just from the position of the Hancock tower. lol
Thank youu! Yesss that boardwalk is so nice and chill!

Thank you demas. I'll try it and share on tag u :)

Thanks so much for this video demas, I learnt a lot, any clue on how to set the Aperture and ISO while using a Canon90D?

Incredible result!!! Only thing I'm not sure of is did you leave the White balance on auto, or manual?

Just made a horrible mistake and didn't flip my camera to manual focus, so my clips keep bouncing as the autofocus is everywhere during the timeslice :/
How would you remedy this?
Thank youu! Theres probably no way to remedy that, you would probably just need to out and re-shoot the timelapse again... :(
@@demasrusli Exactly what I feared. Will have to sacrifice another first born to get the same kinda light again :(
Anyway, all the best with your recovery!
It happens to everyone though, we've all made these kinds of mistakes and it's just up to us to learn from the experience and do better next time :)
@@demasrusli For sure! That is definitely the best kinda mindset. Thanks for the advice, Demas :D

Amazing work , can i do timeslice in final cut pro or this technique only applies to adobe premiere?

Is it possible using my iPhone?
It's possible to shoot the day to night timelapse, but hard to do the timeslice edit on a phone I think
QUESTION: what if you set your ISO to auto?
Good question, then the ISO will automatically adjust and it will keep getting grainier and grainier and it will keep bumping the exposure up too so it wont get as dark
Hey demas! Quick question, how do you get the build in intervalometer? Im using sony a7iii, thanks!
Try to find "Interval Shooting" in the Menu :)
