I tend to rest the heel of my hand on the lower strings until I play them, then rest on the bridge corner. It combines with string damping and hybrid picking vs using any fingers. A thing that worked for me, was to sync the fretting hand to the picking hand, vs the reverse which worked ok at slower tempos. I use tremolo picking on a single string and just fret random notes, raising the tempo gradually so long as it sounds clean, then bring in another string, and a 3rd. It's partly improvised, but more like a short sequence of notes with variations I can do, rather than something with all notes considered. There's only Carter Arrington I know who has quite a lot of variation on his fastest stuff.

This topic is something I have been struggling with for years , it's a never ending question. I know what the notes in the line are, but then the difficult part is deciding how I am going to play it, where on the neck, and what fingering to use. Playing fast lines in one position is good because you don't have to be moving all over the neck, but since I do mainly alternate picking, it's difficult to pick a long line that uses all six strings in one position, and even if I could pick it that fast, it sounds too choppy and robotic. Whereas shifting positions during the line works a lot better for my right hand, but movings positions during a fast line can slow it down. I use pretty heavy string so I don't do alot of pull offs and hammer ons, I will slide up and down a fret sometimes, but mainly I pick every note. For example,
    how would you play a
C augmented triad in two octaves over a C 7 altered chord from top C to bottom C ,or bottom C up to the top C? Would you play it in one position on the eighth fret sweeping it up or down playing one note on each string, or would you shift to a new positions on a certain string? Augmented triads are a great way to get from the low strings to the high strings or the high strings to the low strings very quickly. Peter Bernstein does it all the time,he can do it so fast. I have even heard him play an augmented triad in three octaves, for example, on a C 7 chord, he would play a C augmented triad starting on the high G sharp on the sixteenth fret all the way down to the low G sharp on the fourth fret and it's incredibly fast and clean, it's literally about two or three seconds. Obviously you would have to change positions for three octaves, but I just wonder how he does it or how you would do it in two octaves. Jesse Van Ruller also has a lot of this in his playing, maybe he picked it up from Peter.

Your pinky technique reminds of Mike Moreno, he basically attacks on upbeats, so the phrasing is more like the "tongue" technique of a sax player (great video on the subject: th-cam.com/video/9bu2o4gG8vc/w-d-xo.html) . They put the attack on upbeats mostly while playing 8th notes. That's my choice too, I like Mike's sound and it's close to what I imagine for my sound. Thanks Daniel, amazing video as usual!
