edit: i see this is getting quite a lot of attention (more than i had imagined, thank you) please support me on ko fi (ko-fi.com/azri...) if you like my stuff. i like making animations and art and i could not survive on my own without peoples help. i omitted this from the original description but Embarrassingly i am almost on the verge of poverty. whether you want to donate is up to you. but i just want to put this here so people know whats going on in my life.

This is so ass. sorry. Hi. this is my first time doing this. sorry if i did anything wrong.
No, just kidding, i think its cool, it couldve been done better, but with the time limit (and my energy) im absolutely exhausted of my abilities here. im also not very good at action scenes... so it felt lacking. some parts are desynced. im not bothering to fix them, sorry. i think i made something neat at least. this is a (mostly) solo project with additional help from woopdeloopei, my boyfriend, who drew backgrounds for me while i was crunching to finish this.
plaaosert originally inspired me with their credits ex animation. who i also borrowed the transcript from (with permission) from their github. this saved a lot of my sanity. (i ended up not using most of it anyway due to running out of time.) cool stuff!
This was difficult. working on this mostly alone was HELL. definitely did not help that my disability just wanted to make my life the absolute worst when i want to do something like this. i was stuck in bed for multiple days!!
It was also unfortunate that i had difficulties in my life during the making of this. the first part before the engineer pops up commanding deimos was made in flipaclip and ibis paint. with my finger. hence why that part looks so odd compared to others.

There's a story to this but i'll let you guess what they are.
Thank you frums for making music i find comfort in. this animation was made as a love letter to them. i cannot stretch how much their music helped me during my worst moments. and i'm glad to have created something cool with it.

There's so, SO much to love about this.
I really enjoy the storytelling, but most of all I enjoyed the subtle things. The posters advertising a rave that we end up seeing the entrance to in the background of the final shots is a minor example that I enjoy, but a more notable one in my eyes was the foreshadowing seen with Deimos where he lit his cigarette with his thumb. Details like that go a long way.
I also really love the art itself and all the detail crammed into each and every shot. The hand drawn ASCII for the background of one of the first shots was really fun to see. The colors are also fantastic.
Finally, I honestly just fell in love with the world shown off in this video. The rich, rainy atmosphere of the city paints a whole new picture of the Madness Combat world, a side we rarely see: the civilians. From those few shots, a whole new world is established that excites my mind and churns my imagination.
Brilliant, phenomenal work, through and through.

this is a wonderful analysis! thank you so much! i kept thinking about this when i first saw it... i was afraid that the moodiness of the animation would kill the energy rush that madness animations usually have but i actually see a lot of people quite liking it, even krinkels himself! thank you! (again)

That’s such a cool idea of Deimos being an agent and snapping and Sanford being some guy wanted by the agency
deimos is an agency defector canonically and sanford just seems like a failure, the engineer shooting at him only shot once and didnt chase after him either

being recognized for my rain world stuff is such a jumpscare but a very good analysis of what happened in the animation! i love it!
sanford quit because he values his dignity (something that doesnt exist in the AAHW because they want to strip you away of your identity until youre nothing but a working slave).
deimos didnt quite know what to do with his life afterwards either, killing the agents was fun but he knew that he was going to be pursued by the AAHW.
until sanford sat next to him and they meet eachother, retelling their stories of the AAHW terrible working conditions (and how abusive the workspace is to the point they mindlessly kill eachother just because), they get fed up by the organization and dedicated to team up!
i enjoyed the line "his individuality could not be removed and he chooses to fight for love", such a good quote!
This is extremely refreshing in the bestest way possible. Love always wins

@@SealWithHat Yep, the wanted posters in the animation list him as a "traitor" and he can also be seen inputting a code into an AAHW keypad.
This is also why the group could revive Hank into a half-mag form, but not Deimos - Deimos is the only one who knows how to use AAHW machinery since he used to work there.

yup! it was certainly difficult. i worked in 12 frames per second too which made it very limiting. it turned out well in the end though!
