Love these videos. Most photography videos just regurgitate the same old “tips” that we’ve all heard a thousand times. These are actually very useful. More tutorials please. 🙏🏼
I love how everyone in London takes photos. Here In South Yorkshire I'm nervous of getting my camera out in public yet but I'm sure I will eventually. Some great inspiration there, I love them!
It’s great that you’ve got the central reservation there, to capture the two buses and lights above - fantastic shot! No wonder it’s popular for photos.
Last year a group of tourists pushed themselves right in front of my tripod on New Bond Street and took pictures in turns forever. When they finished they did not let me take my shot, they had to discuss the photos first. And I was standing there for good ten minutes freezing. I am a patient kind of guy, I don't mind waiting for people to finish whatever they do, as long they are sensible enough to let me have my turn, but these guys seemed completely unaware of my predicament. I do have a strong trained voice, and I made them learn of the nice colorature of my tenor, and some colorful language I've learned since I moved to London. One guy flinched and looked like he was going to get a heart attack, poor thing. I think they were offended and walked away depriving me of their company.
Lovely pictures. I loved the "instagram" shot which I havn't seen so far. Must be lovely to be in London bevor Christmas. I also liked your Video thanks for telling shutter speed etc so I can learn something.
I've done a couple of sessions in London and I'm sure I spoke to you at Blackfriars next to the Millennium Bridge one night. It was great just after we were let out from lockdown, everywhere was nice and quiet, but last Christmas it was heaving, and I even walked into the Moroccan football fans celebrating in Piccadilly Circus after their WC win over Spain. As I come in from Sussex I guess I'll need to get used to the crowds, but still a good evening out, even if it's sometimes a little rushed to get home again.
I think the first shots you showed with Arron & the Subaru= the one with Arron looked better because you had more distance between you & the end of the street. Gave more of an alley or canyon look to it with the tops of the buildings leaning in. = wide angle lens perspective. Just my thoughts. Happy shooting & happy holidays.
Great video. Thanks for the tips. I know it wasn’t the primary focus of this video, but could you provide some advice or link to a video that explains how you masked your friend into the photo? I’m new to Photoshop and trying to learn. Thanks.
@@theschoolofphotography hmm nice lens. Very sharp images. I often have to remind myself to turn the camera to the portrait position. Something I need to work on.
Loved your shots! Many people indicate what focal length they are shooting a shot; however, I'm always confused if they are shooting full frame, or APS-C. I shoot APS-C and always have to do the math in my head assuming people are always referring to full frame focal lengths. Loved the video.
@@theschoolofphotography Thanks for the quick response. I figured you were using full frame. I'm considering going full frame but keep putting it off as my current setup seems to be working good for me. I need to focus more on composition and creativity. Great videos
very informative thank you. A question for you we are both 60 my wife and i we love photography but would be so concerned about our safety and robbery any tips on how to keep safe while doing this
Great idea of using SS mode and not manual... Auto ISO is most important and AWB AND Aperture mode. On my Sony Auto ISO also works in Manual. Also if you have Zebra function (+109) and a EV dial on top just reduce the the zebras yes a dark image but increase shadows to bring back - you will be able to get the light filament also. Some cameras like my A7iii has a AWB white setting this will help get rid of the blue cast in LED lights also the blue cast on the shadow side of say a white boat at sunset. Lastly nothing wrong with eyes or camera if LED lights are purple with age the yellow lens over the emeter degrades with excess cold or heat and age in storage.
Lights are on 3 o'clock to 11 o'clock according to google. Couple of years ago i got up there at 8.45 and they went off at 9.30 took 2 average shots spent a tenner in mcdonalds and 2 hours to get home train troubles. This year you've inspired me to try again
London clearly isn't suffering from the electricity and energy crisis 😳 sadly here we don't have decorations over the streets. Only on the walking area in town. I love to shoot such with F11 😊 Xmas just needs stars 😁
Only watched the first six minutes which was very good. This was broken up with a further six minutes of advertisements not associated with TSOP. Whilst I appreciate the need for commercial advertising this was way over the top. I decided to abandon this video and go elsewhere for night photography tips. Update- I have read many positive reviews here and I have now signed up for a yearly membership with TSOP.
Really enjoyed this video - Merry Christmas and all the very best for 2024 :-)
Thank you! You too Alan 😊

Thank you Shona, appreciate that 🙏
Thought the last shot was superb! Just shows you that everyone sees things differently. Great photography overall and good advice. Thanks!
Thanks Peter, it did actually edit much better than I thought when I took the shot. 👍😊
Loved the “instagram shot” and putting Adam in the middle was the icing on the cake 👍
Thanks Mich 👍

Great enthusiasm and photos. Adam between the buses was very good.
Thanks Michael 👍

I think the guy on the phone made the last shot.
Love your long exposures - I usually shoot M but food for thought 📷👍
Thanks Eltin 👍
So the photos are amazing, but what were your settings for the video?
Great video. Thanks for the tips. I know it wasn’t the primary focus of this video, but could you provide some advice or link to a video that explains how you masked your friend into the photo? I’m new to Photoshop and trying to learn. Thanks.
Hi, you can check that out here www.theschoolofphotography.com/courses/photoshop-course 👍
Wow. You folks have a ball over there. The street displays are phenomenal. F2.8. Is that a prime lense?
Thanks Tim. It's a 16-35mm lens on a full frame camera. Hope that helps 👍

This is a full frame camera Don 👍

Just keep your wits about you and go with others is all I can suggest.
Thanks
Welcome 👍
Being in London, I think I would have tried to work Big Ben into a shot with Christmas lights if possible. Or maybe it’s too cliche?
Christmas lights in London are based around Regent St, not sure there is much around big ben.
Can you please share what tripod you used in here
Here are some we recommend www.theschoolofphotography.com/equipment-for-photography

Does anyone no what time or if the lights are turned off at night
I think they go off early hours. A quick Google will give you the answer 👍

Good luck Peter 👍
This year it’s so crowded, nearly impossible to put a tripod down.
Great idea I just need to get my lazy ass out there and shoot at night
It'll be worth it 👌

Where don't they have Christmas decorations over the streets?
