Ferreting In The Dales - 18 Rabbits Removed

- In this video we head up to the dales for a day out with Josh, Jess, Megan and Paige; with the ferrets and longnets to tackle the area. We didn't bring our other longnets but as we are not doing this as a job and purely just a sport we don't mind a few getting away. The weather turned out beautiful and managed to pull 18 rabbits off for the farmers. A brilliant day all together for us, the dogs worked very well every trip getting better and better working as a team. Paige live to hand has come on so well these last two trips and as you can probably tell from the videos they are very proud moments for us both.

Yh i seen that looking forward to ur next video been watching quite a few rabbiting videos just started up this yr so still learning alotvby watching others do what they do I have 2 lots of permission so far and got an add on preloved and had some flyers printed just waiting for those to come so can post them but keep up the great sport an looking forward to the next one 👍

You ever have any injuries from the rocky ground they run over so quickly? I'd be worried they'd snap a leg off in one of those holes chasing the rabbits out. Thanks for sharing, cool way of hunting.

Absolutely superb . Paige looks like a saint but acts like a sinner pinching all of the rabbits her buddy catches .
Ye she does that it's the gundog 🤣 just wants to carry everything in her mouth. She will be 10 next month so gonna get a little lurcher pup in a couple of years but till then she's the rabbit carrier 😅
@@joshsilver5714 Got to say my viz ,Willow, is no angel as she refuses to back a point . We were out on Saturday and on a couple of occasions she spotted her partner on point and just ploughed through and flushed the bird !

First time seeing this. May i ask why you hunt those rabbits? they do damage to crops? You sell or eat them? cool video anyway thanks!
Sorry for the late reply, they eat all the grass. 3 rabbits will eat the same as 1 sheep which is a lot when raising livestock also they damage the ground often resulting in livestock having to be put down with broken legs eg. We feed our ferrets and dogs on them and also eat them
No worries! never knew they would eat so much. They probably have not many natural predators to near the farm so this is a nice way to deal with it.

I too would like to know if the rabbits are eaten, pelts processed for some good use. But, that aside, it's never a good idea to let the rabbit population become too numerous, no matter what kind of rabbit it is or where they are. You can rest assured they aren't about to go extinct.

Get as much permission as u possibly can, u will love it
There's plenty of rabbits where I live , all down the walking path you can see them hopping about

Do you train the ferrets?
Not really it's all natural instinct, obviously have to handle them alot so they don't bite
