    You have to drain the coolant in order for the water pump not to leak. Also, do the electronic tests beforehand; they help discover parts that need replacing.

  • @dribrom
    @dribrom 3 ปีที่แล้ว +44

    11:50 To drain the pump you have to drain the green fluid, the coolant. If the car doesn't have it in a separate container you drain it from the radiator. The power steering is the red fluid, and brake is the yellow.
    PS: coolant is a general term for allot of different liquids or gasses. But most ICE (internal combustion engine) use water as coolant.

    • @untitledduck9675

    I've played this and 2018 quite a bit, and just to let you know, there are more parts on a car from the barn then the junkyard but you can 100% flip a car from the junkyard once you have a bit of money. Flipping cars is an amazing way of making money and I've made like 100k profit from one car flipping it from the junkyard.

    When you are putting the parts back together you have to make sure you put the new parts where they belong. For example, if there are 6 ignition coils but only 3 are bad. You have to put the new ones where they are highlighted. I noticed when you put the engine back together you just threw the new ones on where ever you were. Just a bit of advice one mechanic to another.

    Coolant is anti-freeze mixed with water . That gets pumped into water ports in the block and head to cool the engine. That's why they call it a water pump. You can also use just plain water as coolant , but it boils much quicker than anti-freeze.

    Rubber bushings are practically what connect the suspension parts to the frame. It's made to be able to move around slightly and return back to a neutral position
    I'm saying this because In Car Mechanic Simulator 2018, on the Lotus Elise S1 you can clearly see that, as the suspension arms connect directly onto the car frame and not on a suspension cross member

    14:48. It Is called a water pump because in places that don't get cold, like Texas, Cali, etc. They typically use water because coolant is rated to a certain degree to not freeze. It does pump water if you put water in the radiator, but typically people use coolant because it usually cools the engine better than water.

    As a mechanic if you were gonna go to the effort of pulling the camshafts out, you would replace all the timing belts, tensioners, water pump and idler pulleys while everything's apart (if replacing was required soon). Just for preventative maintenance and saving on labour costs, time and effort if you were to pull everything apart in the near future anyway.
    Also generally when you replace one thing on side of the car (e.g. discs or bushings) its good practise to replace the other the identical part on the other side. i.e. always replace in pairs!

  • @lukeestep3421
    @lukeestep3421 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Trevor, just so you know if you take a part off because with is bad, you need to put the new part in the exact spot of the bed one you took off. For example, say your front driver side brake pad was bad. If you take the passenger side apart to let’s say, took look at the rotor, you when putting it together, you don’t put the new brake pad on the passenger side to fix the bad brake pad on the driver side. So when you keep having to replace parts that are only at like 80% it’s not because they are bad, the game just wants a brand new one there. To fix that you can buy a new part or just pay attention to where you take parts off and put new one on. Other then that great series. Being an auto mechanic in the real world it is fun to watch someone who doesn’t know what he is doing.

    Trevor couple of tips for you my man
    1. in the PIE menu or the right mouse button menu there is an examination option you can use it to check different parts of vehicle if you don't have all the facilities yet. Plus it gives EXP points.
    2. concentrate on building all of the extensions to your garage that way you don't need the test track you can do it all in the garage.
    3. for rebuiding cars from the junkyard you really need all the repairing tools you can buy plus it is expensive. I bought from the junkyard the Tempest Magnum (it is game version of 1969 dodge charger daytona) for 15k credits and it cost me 25k to completely repair it with all the tools that i had. So i would say junkyard is worth going at around lvl 15 when you have most of the skilpoints in the repair skill tree.
    4. The cars in the barn (the good ones) will cost far more then the cars from the junkyard so go there only if you have like a 50k credits at the least

The game has you empty the reservoir as default due to most cars coolant systems varying from bein replenished frequently to seldomly never at all. However you would empty the pump & coolant reservoir during a regular job. Im surprised there's not a mini game involved during the removal of the belts & clutches lol those aren't quick jobs at all lol.

    The reason it’s called a water pump is because coolant has water. Coolant is basically made up of water and a additive that keeps the water from freezing in the winter. Fun fact that’s why most drag cars use distilled water because they only use the cars in the summer and because clean up of water is a lot easier on a track than cleaning up coolant since the water will just evaporate!👍

    @TmarTn2 it’s called a water pump because the coolant for engines used to be water.

    Engines used to be cooled by water but the coolant stops the water from freezing however the term water pump just stuck

    Hey Trevor, that story order that needs 10-15 % improvement is at 26%, you need to remove some parts to finish that order if you haven’t already

    They call it a water pump because coolant is a 50/50 mix of sugar/distilled water. That’s all coolant is

  • @JacobLafferty
    @JacobLafferty 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    The reason it's called a water pump is because before coolant was made water was used as a coolant

    Pay attention to the highlighted parts that need to be changed seeing your using that function to avoid do overs and buying extra parts not needed and just replace the parts highlighted.
    Granted on some of the bushings it can be difficult on some parts like the control arms but for the most part on the easy setting your using it guides you well for what needs what.
