nah, just practice and medium sized hands/fingers - can help if dislocate little fingers too, not suggesting, just saying happened to me in a certain way from a basketball hitting and pushing outwards/backwards from hand, now have independent little finger fingering.. on my right hand. Wish it was my left. But I still practice extreme stretches - the hardest/most impressive is the 'big hand' I call it - Jimi Hendrix's thumb on the low string coming from above the neck (towards your head) and other fingers under the neck (towards your feet) - thinking from the perspective/view while looking down at the guitar/neck while playing
lucky duck. i saw them in 2012 and when All That Remains was playing, he was on the upper mezzanine and i swear we made eye contact while i was hitting a bowl and he nodded in approval i’m 86% sure it was a coincidence but i’m taking it to my grave lol
Theres a lot of pretentiousness in this comment section. This is a video for fun to help people challenge themselves. Stop acting like you could do better.
He writes some of the most amazing riffs I have ever heard, not so keen on overly dischordant scales though. Lol, it looks like he struggles to play things slowly. Massive fan of his work but why did he have to use Metalocalypse at a catalyst for his music. Love it all the same. Been waiting for this forever. LOVE YOUR WORK BRENDON, trying to teach my nan the intro riff lol
It seems like he doesn't actually know a TON about music. Like I'm not trying to insult him because he's awesome, but I bet he taught himself, he's not classically trained. His riffs always make me feel like he's one of those guys who sits there and just noodles away, messing around, until he comes up with something amazing. He's more interested in writing and comedy afaik, which makes sense why he did this through a TV show
@@wmd40 He did graduate from Berkeley School of Music in 1997, so I'm sure he knows what he is doing when it comes to theory. I just think he is also a comedian on top of it so he is trying to add humor as well
You sir are on my top 5 of guitarist up there with Jeff Loomis Francesco Artusato Joe Cocchi Lucuss Mann God it changes every 5 mins but Brandon Small and Jeff Loomis will be on there for awhile
3yrs too late but you arent wrong. LMAO . when he did thunderhorse at namm in 08 i think and the hotel remix thing, just type em in the search bar - those were the only times i seen him wear different shirts other than when he made the video tutorials on how to play the deth theme and showing his then home studio. which were both black shirts Lmao.
This is probably the most chill reply to internet hostility I've ever seen and i'm happy to award you with the internet medal of awesome for your work in web peace \m/
I bet the 24.75" scale length of that Les Paul helps a lot for the stretchy part. It's hard enough on a 25.5" Ibanez RG and I bet it's impossible on a multi-scale or a baritone
what's cool about this one is that his riff is actually musical lol...from a song. and the index to ring finger reach is something most people can't do for those chords
Bodacious, asbestos fingers Brendon!!! Jst finished watching "wizards Baker" that episode is all u mane! Ya'll are outrageous!!! That guitar though, amazing work dude!!!
Yeah, in a live setting, obviously. When recording the music for Dethklok songs, he does everything but the drums. There is such a difference as who's in the studio, and who's brought on for the live lineup.
Definitely get what you mean. I would approach it the same way if I tackled his material. I believe he says 13/4 because he feels that first riff as one big figure. Either way though pretty interesting writing. Thanks for responding. Always happy to come across other technical minded musicians.
If you havent realized, Swissgar uses the same guitar, Gibson Explorer(and i do to) And he created Dethklok, hes the lead and the singer. But if you were just kidding then sorry.
Bets we can't play it, immediately teaches how to play it. Good guy Brendon
Good guy Guitar World.
Thats what every betcha can't play this, thats part of it
That's literally how this works
@@kill3r_b75 little tardy to the party huh
@@holytj1 story of my life 🤷♂️
Who's this Betcha? And why is everyone mocking him? Listen Betcha, if you pratice hard enough, you will be able to play this too one time!

+Nathan Coomes You've misunderstood his comment lol.
no dont tell him
Oh my b I didnt realize that was an attempt at humor.
What he does with that bar chord is evil.
the guitar is buzzings, when hes ams not playings, he musts records it jumping out a planes
that stretch... is unhuman

I fucking know it. 3 and 9 at the same time is unreal.
Guys this is basically the crazy train stretch backwards. Work on your dexterity.
What part of Crazy Train?
Aaron Bolster shit I meant back in black. Sorry. Mucho wine tonight
"Hey! It stops buzzing whens i gives it to this guys!"
Lol awesome.
That is one of the dopest riffs/ arangements I have ever heard. Thanks Brendon.
"PULL THE PLUG!"
fucking yes.... \m/
+Johnbillyfrank Death- Pull the Plug
There is no hope why don't you..., Let me pass away
oh crap i got that reference and i dont even listen to death metal regularly
That finger stretch though.
That's Doable
Five years later and you are still fucking awesome, if for no other reason, for this comment.
I bought a Thats Doable hat about a month ago for $36
he's such a diverse player. i love everything about his playing and riffs.
leviathan
"diverse"..??!
Dude plays death metal! 😂🤷♂️
Wonder if this can be adapted to ukelele.... ?
Hahaha! ! ! Thanks guys(likes) !! Answering my own question after 9 months~ NO, it cannot... don't try you'll hurt yourself. :-}
Ask The Dooo.
He probably should have recorded this bit while jumping from a plane to get rid of the buzz.
"Hi I'm Brendan small and I hate this Betcha Can't Play This shit but I'm gonna do it anyway because you asked me to."
Hey, shut up cause i'm asking you to
I'd shut up if Brendan Small asked me to.
ight!
No, he'd ejaculate fire.
He threw me a pick during this tour that I still have and use

As soon as he started playing, I wanted to yell out "PULL THE PLUG!!"
"Hey, I'm Brendan Smalls, and I betcha can't stop noticing my chest hair."
I licked my finger after eating an Otter Pop and he was like "Don't put your finger--" and I was like O________________________________O
Gonna sing this as the opening vocals to a Dethsupport cover someday, by god I will.
More like i betcha can't fuckin' hear what i'm playing
If you look carefully at 0:19 you can see his hand turn into a spider
nice
not a bad hand tattoo idea for shred guitarist.

RIP Dwayne :( Livin like a bug must be easy for him now
LOL yeah compared to Dethklok Dwayne will always be a little bug. Hehe.
It's amazing how everyone is an audio engineer.
Exactly!
that stretch could go across the whole world 0:29
You talented bastard, love your work man
That index finger stretch is unreal.
Saw that stretch to the 3rd fret and said nooooooooope

just to think. this man does all the vocals and all the guitars for dethklok. this man is a god
Brendons Small's Fast Hand Finger Wizard Master Class.
I wanted to go to that show soo bad, Mastodon, Dethklok, 2 of my favorite bands, together. Wish they'd do it again
That stretch to the third fret while still alternating the 7-8 is fucking brutal
2 words "frantic disembowelment"
I love that he's like the only person to have pointed out how cocky the title tends to sounds.
PULL THE PLUG!
I bet the 24.75" scale length of that Les Paul helps a lot for the stretchy part. It's hard enough on a 25.5" Ibanez RG and I bet it's impossible on a multi-scale or a baritone
"insert cocky mad guitar skills comment here"
love this guy, he is so good live too
Well most people don't have a 6 fret reach so....
How can someone dislike this awesomeness
Hold my beer
you already know dis part, you on the way home!
but I 's could plays this songs no problems I likes to plays the notes and the scales
one the only people that still make me proud to play gibson
SO MUCH FUCKING GAIN, dat horrible annoying tone tho..
Thats what the rhythm track for all Dethklok songs sounds like
he ams a toneschaser..
Yeah it sounds great but that buzz is like.. w0w
***** Ah well, probably a shitey amp
Its a Marshall JCM800 the hell you mean shitty amp!
I'm just starting to play guitar, and I'm hoping that I will soon be able to move my fingers this fast. Brendan is a beast.
Holy crap - I have long fingers, but that stretch at the end is insane. Major respect.
This guy is good enough to win Guitarmageddon!
Dude, Brendon Small is my hero.
I'm so happy when I hear your music!!! way awesome everytime! Love yr style and attitude!! Thanks for sharing!!
that last stretch right before he quits play is fucking insane!
All these years later and I can still barely play this. It's helpful when he slows it down but that god damn stretch 🤘
My band got offered to open for them during that tour at their Milwaukee stop, I should have said yes damn it.
Dethsupport is definitely one of my favs
I learned a life lesson today, "Be nice to each other... Seriously."
I can do this. I'll learn these awesome songs now
I got this.
*plays Nothing Else Matter intro*
what's cool about this one is that his riff is actually musical lol...from a song. and the index to ring finger reach is something most people can't do for those chords
Bodacious, asbestos fingers Brendon!!! Jst finished watching "wizards Baker" that episode is all u mane! Ya'll are outrageous!!! That guitar though, amazing work dude!!!
this sounds better than the actual song i demand an instrumental version
you had me at "volcano made of evil badgers"- that may be the most original thing I have ever read. XD
I watched his first one and it ended with him saying 'Don't be cocky because no cares." and how he starts this one is pretty damn funny.
If anyone is bamboozled by the shredding this god has bestowed upon us, go to 1:06 and put the playback speed to .025. Godspeed guitarist.,
"Why you copies me!?" ;)
Im saving to buy a awesome guitar like you im inspired by you brendon small
Jeez, I physically cannot move my pointer like that, and I'm a lead guitarist in a death metal band. This guy is no joke.
Yeah, in a live setting, obviously. When recording the music for Dethklok songs, he does everything but the drums. There is such a difference as who's in the studio, and who's brought on for the live lineup.
@joey1364 not from the pickups, distortion pedal/gain from amp, he apparently wasn't using a noise gate.
those riffs are brutal brendon
Hear that guys? BE NICE TO EACHOTHER. Brendon has spoken.
Hey! I saw them on that tour!
holy crap brendons pushing the boundries of how far a human hand can stretch
Betcha can't stop me from playing this
I love the way his picking hand looks like a fist with 2 extra fingers coming off from it
Dat Robert Johnson delta blues stretch....I know where he learned that from.
How do i get rid of this amp buzz? I have the same problem as the video.
Definitely get what you mean. I would approach it the same way if I tackled his material. I believe he says 13/4 because he feels that first riff as one big figure. Either way though pretty interesting writing. Thanks for responding. Always happy to come across other technical minded musicians.

That poster in the back! I have shirt of it :)
Has do you do that fast gallop-like thing at 0:13 and other parts of the video as well..
those stretches tho! I love it!
i want that poster behind Brendon
You and I would get along nicely lol well done.
Brendon Small is so nice and awesome :D
knowledge is not the same as technical ability.
holy shit that's a work out thanks for sharing.
Parts sound like "Into The Void" when slowed down.
Acrually Opeth's "In my Arms you Hearse" and "Orchid" are the days when Opeth wasn't that progressive, however, you've got a point
I didn't realize the amount of odd meters that have been used in Dethklok's music.
HArd to get down but once you get it . . . YOU GOT IT!!!
he created that show, not sure if you were kidding or not.
Is there anyway to learn the triple picking like from the trooper, or run to the hill. I tried but it only last a.short while
Season F*** *** of Metalacolypse, F*** you Adult Swim, we wanted this & you killed it
@aaronmackguitar his band is called DETHKLOK... The t.v show he has is called Metalocalypse
Where can I find the Dethalbum 2 tab book?
Great to see a Rhythm piece as a BYCPT. However I feel pretty good about myself on this one cos I bet I could
