Went on today, had a little welsh kid teaching me the controls and we climbed some massive tower thing with platform bits on. Then met a black physics teacher in the lobby, who managed to gain the attention of all the young uns, and any time one of them started being a little gobshite, the rest of the kids told them to stfu. It was actually really wholesome.
I have been play rec room for 2 years and all of the people that I have met have been so nice but I did not play rec room for a good year till I picked it back up again in 2020. also love this video.
If you haven’t yet take a makerpen class within the game, they will teach you the basics of creating rooms and it’s always a positive atmosphere. I play the game 4 hours on weekdays and about 8 on weekends, really addictive!
rec room is amazing in the fact there are so many communities for example the sword community which is very complex with its styles and its sword mechanics and strategies i personally recommend it for people to get in to if you like a challenge or something competitive
Awesome video. Sorry you had to see the low quality rooms on the feature list that get in the way of the good stuff. There are internal discussions and suggestions that are currently going on about moderating and managing these UGC rooms a lot more effectively. Overall the mod team and support and everyone who CAN help is trying to make a better experience without screaming kids shouting the n-word and we’re slowly getting there. The kids are what really reduced my play time in Rec Room and getting down-voted on reddit for saying to report cheaters just really cinched it. The community of Rec Room is the biggest hurdle for me which sucks because I really enjoyed it.
7 year old kids definitely hindered Rec Room's progress for awhile...if muting them isn't enough for you, my best advice is to tell friends to join (VR or non VR) or you can find some players that aren't children and friend them on Rec Room. Eventually you have a nice little index of friends to invite or join when you get on. You can even search recent players if you didn't get a chance to friend someone during the match, you can still add them by searching "recent" on your watch. Don't let the children win! Lol

Xd the ropes that u talked about on that stunt runner the thing is that if u can see you actually grab the purple wall u can see that u dont grab the rope

But if u do a bit of digging you can find some really awesome games and hangouts

I'm a girl and whenever im playing with my friend these kids walk up to him and start calling him a simp ( because he told them to please be chill and stop saying nasty stuff) and vote kicked him.. (This happens alot) and i rarely even talk to people but my friends .. sadly kids aren't the only ones being toxic this 20 year old (which sounded 20 and had 20 in his bio) was following me and my friends when when i blocked him and said some really nasty stuff just following us even when we left the room he still typed in the world we were at and followed us even when he was blocked.. rec room is not that fun anymore for me.. honestly just makes me depressed 😔

I think it was the vive controllers- tracking would push my scope all over the place when I tried to snipe people with those awful wands...
PS - While they are pricey, I highly recommend the index controllers. Not having to hold onto controllers is a HUGE step up in VR immersion.

Yes you can chat with others or mute your mic (or mute an individual if they are bothering you)
if you look under your watch and click it theres a quick chat feature i mainly see screen modes use it but i have seen vr users use it alot as well
I stopped playing two years ago because it was full of kids and I didn't encounter any adults anymore.

im new to vr ok so noob question , does htc vive do the teloporting or can htc vive use locomotion ?
The vive can do both! And most games now have the option for you to choose whichever movement type you prefer!

Oh yeah! A lot of user created rooms are specifically designed to just relax and talk with people (there's a big Christmas house, a bar, etc.)
