    What they did to Radovid in TW3 is the biggest disappointment of the whole game. They claim he's mad. We don't see that. We see a grim, brooding, merciless monarch. And probably the greatest Northern king of all time - I mean who else managed to unite the entire North? Radovid V *_the Great,_* I say.
    He blinded Philippa Eilheart? SHE MURDERED HIS FATHER, and tormented/humiliated him throughout his childhood. She is a traitor, conspirator, and assassin - in the Middle Ages they'd have her _drawn and quartered,_ not blinded.
    He goes after mages? So far as he knows, a conspiracy of mages killed two Northern monarchs, tried to kill a third, all in order to weaken the North for Nilfgaard. And in coordination with the Nilfgaardian invasion. Not only that, but going after these people will get him money he desperately needs to fight Nilfgaard. Insane? No.

      If you don't assassinate Radovid, he wins the war and Emyr gets shanked by his own people. But then Radovid starts burning people for being suspected of being mages, whether they be simple herbalists and healers, or even non-humans.

      dIRECT0R while I agree partially with you that his actions weren't all that crazy and they had a political importance....it's still better for the realm if he dies. If djikstra rules then industry prospers and its rpetty much the best north ending. If empire rules either emhyr rules and well....its a tyranny but not like radovids....its a tyranny with no people being burned just cause they eat herbs. And if ciri rules its the best choice since she is the best and kindest ruler but a rgeat political ruler too. so to put simple its like this: Ciri>djikstra>emhyr>redania in terms of the best for realm to least best. I know you like radovid(you post this comment on every radovid video for some reason) but a ruler who even after the war ends and he doesnt need the money STILL burns innocent people is not a ruler anyone needs for his realm.Radovid is the bigest asshole ever after the events of W2. I remember what a cool guy he was during W1 though.i really liked the bro there.

      Enel97 Yes, but what kind of precedent does it set when one can just assassinate a king and become the ruler? There's a reason why such things were abhorred: they're a recipe for instability. Radovid comes from a very ancient ruling house... But that whole Dijkstra ending is weird: how does he obtain power? They say he's chancellor then, but for WHOM? Etc.. As for Emhyr... he's among the biggest villains in the Witcher universe. He started no less than three unprovoked, extremely bloody wars, where his troops slaughtered civilians as a matter of policy. Do we want brutal conquerors to have their way? Maybe.. As for Ciri.. sure, she'd probably be the best ruler, being the perfect pretty princess with supernatural powers and all.. but even if she weren't as annoying and unrealistic as Daenerys from Game of Thrones - she rules by and through Nilfgaard! The murderous, scheming Black Ones, who killed Foltest etc.. No I'll go for Rado, thanks. Remember he has the strongest claim to the Temerian throne anyway, and at least he's a Northerner. Even if he's mad, he'll die eventually.

    • @Enel97
      @Enel97 9 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      dIRECT0R I agree about the Djikstra p[art even though you are missing that he is a chancelor of Redania(most non-book readers miss that so its not your fault). I mean okay he was chancellor but how does he manage to rule the north just like that? Come onnn. As for Radovid yeah in terms of the Temerian one he has the most right. He is the husband of the official daughter of the previous king(assuming you let adda live) and may even be the keeper of foltests illegitimate daughter too(depending on your actions in W2) so yeah TEMERIA SHOULD UNTIE WITH REDANIA for gods sake thats what should have happened. But ciri ruling from nilfgard being bad is idiotic. It's like saying that you don't like that the EU headquarters are germanic because the germans killed people in WW2. Stop thinking about past grudges mate. The world will never go ahead like that. Ciri is undoubtly best choice. But it's not good in the sense that ciri never really wanted that so geralt as a father should let her live her dream of being a witcher. So we are left with Emhyr....a cunnic tyrant who will do everything to obtain pwoer. Like you said the guy was the main villain of all the books plus oine of the main ones in the games....but that doesn't eman he is worse than radovid. On one hand ruthless leader who cruelly kills traitors and anyone who opposes him so he can ensure he can stay a leader and rule like he wants(pretty much the average ruler) and on the other hand a bigot who due to his grudge over revenge(philipa was a bitch) for his father has led him into slaughtering adn burning thousands of innocents just for his revenge pelasure. Nope sir. For shitheads like radovid even emhyr is better. If it wasn't for the witch hunts i w9ould undoubtly pick him. He is the best ruler the north has ever seen. He managed to unite the north against the greatest empire. But his revenge made him look unstable...and thats not good. He had a claim for temeria and deserved it...but he lost it when he started acting like a child. philipa is dead.the bitches who killed kings are dead. no need to slaughter herbalists just cause you consider them to be on the same league as the scum who killed your dad and other kings.

    • @dIRECTOR259
      @dIRECTOR259 9 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Enel97 No, Dijkstra is not Chancellor when you meet him in the game. He used to be the regent and spy master, but by the time of Witcher 3 he's just a gangster (who may or may not have lost all his money). He becomes Chancellor if you side with him (I said that in my previous post) - but HOW and FOR WHOM? How can this crime lord now just grab control of redania? He was in exile for years, why would the nobles and the army obey him, etc.. And WHO is he "Chancellor" for? Who become king after Radovid? Women can't inherit in Redania... The rest is just you talking about your personal feelings.. whatever. The game gives us no reason to think Radovid would be a bad ruler in general. He will persecute mages and nonhumans, but that doesn't mean ordinary people will be worse off. Try not to patronize me..

      They were plotting to take his place; and the central figure of the Lodge, that manipulative cunt Philippa, had his father Vizimir killed, humiliated him during his youth and is responsible for the worst waves of chaos and unrest to ever plague the North when she caused the assassination of Demavend and Foltest (through Síle and the witchers from the School of the Viper, Letho and his friends). And I don't even need to mention how Philippa plotted to manipulate Saskia and forsake Triss when she was captured. Not only was Radovid in his full right to take revenge from them, but he also did the whole North a great favour by ridding the landscape of such filth.
      He went a bit too far in W3 though...

      @kwazooplayingguardsman5615 7 ปีที่แล้ว +41

      biggest gutting of all characters in fictional media. its akin to euron greyjoy's or stannis baratheon's character assasination in game of thrones
      besides the high-willed foltest, and the gregarious henselt, Radovid is known to be the shrewd, calculating, and the surprisingly proficient one amongst the northern monarchs. Vizimir the just was akin to tythus lannister "nice and friendly king but no one respected him" which also bore out to the young radovid where at teh start, no one respected Radovid and Redania due to Vizimir's legacy yet only after 4 years of his reign Redania became a massive political powerhouse.
      Witcher 3 was a good game but it was horrendous at dealing with established characters, they ruined roche, they ruined ves, they ruined radovid, they ruined triss, the white frost isn't supposed to be ciri's generation's problem, and Somehow they made emrhy the good guy when he's supposed to be ruthless and disturbingly adept at political coups, the whole 2nd niflgaard nordling war was made using a sorched earth tactic, butchering peasants and burning farms. vilgefortz didn't even received a cameo, when he's one of the most influential players in the political game, heck they didn't even dwell on the infamous butchering of the virheed brigade which caused the schism between niflgaard and the elder races. Djikstra was suddenly made the anti-hero when he also managed a mage pogrom after vizimir's assasination. heck they didn;t dwell on the lodge's history of murdering kings to the point that sile was scared of the arrogance that the lodge possess.

    • @masterexploder9668
      @masterexploder9668 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Actually while Vizimir was called the Just, he was also respected. If he really was harmless, useless and not competent, then why he would be the first one to be assassinated right when Thanedd coup was beginning? It severely weakened Redania and thus Nordlings, who were unable to make a united front against Nilfgaard, because he was the leading king in first war and main shotcaller.

      @@kwazooplayingguardsman5615 You realize the game happens after the events of the books so Vilgefortz is already dead unless you wanted someone to bring him back mysteriously. Secondly, while Emhyr is shrewd he's not downright genocidal and a maniac. In the books he even lets Ciri go with Geralt after going through all the trouble of trying to find her in the first place. Lastly I do agree with how they effed Radovid up making him into a mad king. I feel the whole 3rd Northern War and the politics were a little sidelined in favor of the main plot but overall, all things considered I still think it wasn't too bad. The whole "deciding the fate of the war" by killing radovid or declining to do so gave me heavy Mass Effect vibes and it followed on the footsteps of Witcher 2 albeit in a smaller way. Radovid would naturally hate mages and magic because of his childhood but they turned him into this genocidal maniac hell bent on killing every last mage and non human. Also the white frost would only even become a problem in the books a 100 years after the events of The Lady of the Lake if I recall correctly so yes it wouldn't be her generations problem.

      So he let Ciri go? What of it? So he finally realized what a piece of shit he was when he wanted to rape his daughter. He doesn't get brownie points for that. That should never have been a problem in the first place.

      well, if you're head of an organization that represented mages in the northern kingdom's courts, but also plotted to take over the northern kingdoms which resulted to the death of two soveriegn kings and plunging the entire north into disarray, you need to expect payback in some sort, just so happens that northmen were already suspicious of magic, and the recent events provided hard evidence of its danger to the realm. Radovid just wanted to enact revenge agaisnt philippa, destroy the lodge, and stabalize the north under threat of a big southern empire, he saw one of the smartest ways in doing so, achieve support of northmen by allying himself to their cause, all the while confiscating the goods and wealth of mages to support his army, and then making a campaign ridding the realm of the schemers.
